News Central TV Kenyans are preparing to start paying new taxes in July of this year. Despite claims that it will burden already struggling citizens even more, President William Ruto has signed a contentious Bill raising taxes on a variety of goods into law.
The new tax package, which was adopted by parliament last week, includes raising the gasoline tax from 10% to 16% and enacting a new housing fee, both of which are anticipated to have an impact on the inflation rate in the nation.
Additionally, income tax rates will increase from the existing 30 percent to 32.5 percent for people making Ksh500,000 ($3,600) a month and to 35 percent for those making Ksh800,000 ($5,700).
