The Lord uses the metaphor of rain coming to cause growth in the field for the food of the farmer in order to describe His Word. The Word of salvation in Christ Jesus certainly does cause growth in us. It transforms our deadness in sin into new life, much as rain can transform a barren land into a flourishing farm. The fruits of the faith continue to nourish us as we live in this world and allows us to do the work that is needed of us. We The fruit of the Word is not for us alone but for all people. We are to cultivate the world by spreading the Word of Christ that all might be forgiven their sins and come to knowledge of the Truth.
