Meltdowns, shutdowns, and tantrums are very similar, yet different with how they are triggered. Mikko displays all three when she becomes frustrated and when she doesn't get her way, but lately it has been occurring more often. The most important thing we try and do is take our time with comforting her, working with her to understand more to avoid meltdowns, and also giving her time to express herself. In doing that, we hope to help her avoid shutting and melting down while allowing her to understand her emotions.
