Ampere Altra Developer Platform / AVA Developer Platform are two of the few Arm-based workstations complying with a set of hardware and firmware standards to provide a seamless development experience. By doing so, both support generic off-the-shelf operating systems, specifically Windows11, Linux, VMware, and BSD environments, and subsequent layers of software, to work right out of the box. One thing holding Windows on Arm back right now was a lack of great hardware—the new platforms fill the market gap. Both Ampere Altra-based platforms provide premium performance from a cloud-to-edge infrastructure, while keeping an extremely low thermal envelope, lower TCO, and significantly lower power consumption than x86 designs.
