SCOTTISH football has lost a legend after Morton and Hibs legend Allan McGraw died at the age of 83.
The Greenock side revealed that their all-time club great had passed away just weeks after they named the main stand in his honour.
McGraw rewrote goalscoring records during his playing days at Cappielow - helping the club to win promotion to the top flight in 1964.
Taken to Hibs by Bob Shankly, he then played in a successful Easter Road side which graced European football during the late 1960s.
While he was loved as a player, for those of a younger vintage it is McGraw the manager who will be fondly remembered.
He served the club as manager for more than a decade, a period which co-incided with their last period in the top flight and blooding youngsters such as Derek McInnes, Alan Mahood, David Hopkin and Brian Reid and his son Mark.
He later helped save the club when former owner Hugh Scott threatened to close the club down "like the shipyards" - then had involvement as Morton moved towards fan ownership via the Morton Club Together group.
A Morton statement read: "Everyone at Greenock Morton is deeply saddened to learn of the passing of club legend, Allan McGraw.
"Known as 'Mr Morton', Allan has been a huge part of our club’s history, with the main stand at Cappielow recently named in his honour.
"Rest in peace Allan."
