This year in October we participated in the global "Day of prayer for the peace of Jerusalem" (https://daytopray.com), initiated by Robert Stearns. For this event we wrote the Song "Shalom - Pray for the peace of Jerusalem" inspired by Psalm 122.
After the day of prayer we still spent a whole week in the streets of Jerusalem with our GERMAN street-music project "Israel, we stand with you" by https://friends-of-jesus.de/. Since about 10 years we come to Israel with original Hebrew songs and a statement of love and support for Israel and the Jewish people - and a strong statement against anti-semitism. We were still in Jerusalem when the war broke out on October 7, 2023 and the song suddenly had an even greater relevance for this hour and in the midst of all the grieve and alarms.
Only one day after the horrible attack we went out to the streets of Jerusalem again ... this time we did not take the drum-set, piano and electric guitar, but only our acoustic guitar, our handwritten postcards and our banner with the message of love and support. The streets were almost empty but the encounters we had were very special to us. Tears and deep talks!
As our flights had been cancelled we were offered to take a sailing ship from Akko to Cyprus by a Swedish crew (https://elida.se/en/). A few hours later, in the middle of the night, we found ourself and all our instruments and luggage on rubber boat on our way to the majestic Elida V and their awesome crew. Now we are back in Germany, united with our Families.
We must say: in all the years we come to Israel we never experienced our Jewish friends so heavily burdened. In this dark hour we want to be here for them. That's why we decided to keep praying, staying in personal touch, making statements against anti-semitism here in Europe and recording this song.
We hope it will be an encouragement for many. A message of love and support for the Jewish people and call to prayer for many in the nations.
