Montezuma's Revenge. Penny has collected all of the sunstones, so Tabatha is in desperate need of a plan - the only thing for it now is to take Diggory hostage and hold him for ransom. Is anyone going to manage to harness the power of the sun, or will the stones be destroyed forever? And who exactly can fly the T-Room spaceship thing? This episode, the final one in the series, was originally broadcast on Monday, 9th March, 1992.

I know that T-Bag fans everywhere hold Jennie Stallwood (Debbie) and Kellie Bright (Sally) in especially high esteem - and rightly so, as they were most prolific of the young questors - but I just want to say that Evelyn Sweeney really isn't too far behind them at all. As her series wore on, she definitely grew into the role of Penny, and ultimately was very, very good indeed as the feisty and resourceful protagonist. So much so, in fact, that although her character wasn't to return, Evelyn returned for a one-off performance in the final series. I'm just saying this because she never seems to get a mention in despatches, which I can't help feeling is more than a little unfair. What's even sadder is that her IMDB entry doesn't list anything after a 1999 part in The Bill, and she didn't get involved with the Reunion Documentary - I wonder what in the world became of her. Are you out there, Evelyn...?

Back to the episode at hand, and once you've finished marvelling at the state-of-the-art flying saucer special effects on show, I'm sure you'll agree that it's a brilliant end to the series. Without spoiling anything, the "Where's Penny? Where's my daughter?"/"One question at a time, please" exchange definitely gave me a chuckle as I like people saying daft things without realising how confused it makes them look, while I fully intend to use "There's more than one way to milk a duck" myself as and when the opportunity presents itself. There's also a nice Doctor Who reference, as I gather at least one of the writers is a big fan. One minor directorial quibble is that, once those who are trapped get free of the cage, it sort of looks like Penny, her dad, and T-Shirt proceed to sprint headlong straight into the fiery pit - let me know if you think the same thing, or if I'm going mad. We also finally get to see a different room on the flying cup and saucer besides the T-Room. And it totally *is* a different room, and not exactly the same one with seats and a steering wheel added.

We haven't mentioned Christopher Bramwell yet, in the role of Diggory. He doesn't have a particularly long IMDB entry, but we can point to three appearances in Mike and Angelo as Richard Hope. Keep an eye too out at the beginning and end for some Children's ITV continuity presented by Tommy Boyd - the subtlety of the episode title is lost the instant he explains the joke before it even starts.

Many thanks to Grant for providing this recording.
