L: Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever.
C: Those who run after other gods will suffer more and more. I will not offer sacrifices to such gods or take up their names on my lips.
L: The Lord is with me; I will not be afraid. What can mere mortals do to me?
C: The Lord is my strength and my defence; he has become my salvation.
L: I will give Him thanks, for He answered me; He has become our salvation.
C: Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever.

Prayer of Confession
Almighty God, you are a compassionate and gracious God. Slow to anger, abounding in love, faithful in all your promises. We confess we have not been faithful to you in the ways you have been faithful to us. We have not loved you with all our hearts, minds, and strength; nor our neighbours as ourselves. Our hearts are prone to wander. We have chased after other gods to serve our own self-interest. Forgive us, O Lord. Deliver us from the enslaving power of in-dwelling sins. Enable us to repent truly, lament and forsake our sins fully, and obey you completely, as we seek to be remade day-by-day into the image of your Son, Jesus. We ask all this in His name, Amen.
