In this teaching, we will delve deep into Scripture to extract spiritual rules and standards for evaluating the people and ideas we choose to follow. For example, Scripture dictates that those who follow vain people will be overwhelmed by poverty (Proverbs 28:19). Additionally, Scripture states that those who follow vain people lack understanding (Proverbs 12:11). These scriptures, along with many others, establish the criteria for assessing those whom we intend to follow, particularly in matters pertaining to God. The apostle Paul instructed the saints to focus on spiritual matters rather than superficial concerns (2 Corinthians 4:18). Without making our Bibles the standard for assessment, we cannot determine who is truly of God and who is not. Often, our decisions are influenced more by our emotions and the personalities of others than by the spirit of God.
