Fill Me Up (spontaneous worship)
Erin Cheney I recently discovered I have something called Torus Palatinus. It's a benign bony growth all along the roof of my mouth. I've always struggled with singing in head voice, as well as staying on pitch. I just have never been able to feel resonance like it seems other singers can... and now I know why. My instrument feels defective. To be honest, I've felt super discouraged...and have cried out to God multiple times. "Why Lord, when all I want to do with this life is sing to You, why does it feel especially difficult for me?"
"My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in your weakness." These words from 1 Corinthians chapter 12 have gently come to mind each time I've cried out.
This season is hard- for most of us. Being sheltered in place with nowhere else to turn has forced us to come face to face with our weaknesses and our faults. But what if the trial was purposed to draw us deeper? What if the storm is meant to strip away all the excess and reveal our deepest need? We were never meant to be perfect. We were simply created to worship the perfect one.
