Audi presented the sports utility vehicle RS6 Avant GT.
Audi showed the sports utility vehicle RS6 Avant, which can accelerate to 100 km/h in just 3.2 seconds.

The Audi RS6 Avant Performance super wagon is already almost perfect, because it has a V8 engine with a capacity of 621 horsepower, acceleration to "hundreds" in 3.3 seconds and space for five people with luggage. Now, however, Audi has upped the ante with the ultra-fast GT model.

Audi designers drew inspiration for the exterior design from the legendary Audi 90 Quattro IMSA GTO racing car. Audi's iconic red, white and black racing livery and 22-inch wheels are actually taken from the 90 Quattro. This look will be the only choice for US buyers. Other markets will have a choice of paint options.

For the first time, the RS6 Avant GT received a carbon fiber hood that can be partially or fully opened. A new fender design opens the exhaust vents behind the front wheels for better airflow, and the exterior is dotted with GT badges.

The interior is finished in black leather and Alcantara with red quilted stitching on the seats. There are new carbon-padded sport bucket seats and a limited-edition badge on the center console that indicates just how rare this wagon is. And it will be very unique.

The Avant GT uses the same 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine as the Avant Performance, producing 621 horsepower and 847 Nm of torque. But with some tuning, the GT accelerates to 100 km/h in 3.2 seconds – one-tenth of a second faster than the standard model. The GT takes 11.5 seconds to hit 200 km/h – 1.5 seconds quicker than the Performance – and has a top speed of 305 km/h.

However, the RS6 GT is driven by more than straight-line speed, thanks to a 10-millimeter reduction in ground clearance via mechanically adjustable suspension. The GT also gets stiffer anti-roll bars, three-way electronically adjustable shock absorbers and a revised rear differential with more camber, along with grippier Continental Sport Contact tires.

Audi plans to produce only 660 examples of the RS6 GT worldwide. Each of these cars will be partially hand-built, with the carbon hood, wings, bumper, spoiler, suspension and exterior cladding created by designers and engineers in Germany. Only 85 units will go to the US and only 7 to Canada.
