Whisky.com reviews the Dictador Rum XO Platinum. The Colombian producer of Gin, cigars and coffee is best known for its rum. Dictador was founded in 1913 in Cartagena on the northern coast of Colombia. Great importance is attached to careful production and well-kept recipes, which are continued today by the third generation of the Parra family. The basis of the Dictador Rum XO Platinum consists of fermented sugar cane honey, which is then distilled in a stainless steel tank. The rum is matured in high-quality, used oak barrels from the Andalusian Jerez. The rum is then finished in port wine barrels that have been burnt out again, giving the liquid sweet aromas of caramel and oak.
