GemsOnVHS We're looking back today at @LemonCello - They're a wonderful Irish duo comprised Laura Quirke (on guitar here) and Claire Kinsella (on the cello). This field recording was captured in Dublin on the last Gems trip out there. The tune is called "Always Neighbors".
Tomorrow we've got a new field recording of theirs releasing, but for now I just want to revel in this song. It's one of my all-time favorite sessions, unabashedly. They had this to say: "To us, Always Neighbors is an ode to the cyclical nature of love and life. A reminder that in order to be free, we must let the past go while knowing it is what has given us the resilience to march on.”
This one has grown on me over the listens, I find myself singing it around the house and reflecting on the deep sentiment of estranged lovers growing together in place but apart in mind.
