Keith Sweat was born on July 22, 1961, in Harlem, New York City, as Keith Douglas Sweat. Growing up in a challenging environment, Keith was raised by his mother, Juanita Thompson, after his father passed away when he was just 12 years old. Despite the hardships, his mother instilled in him the importance of hard work and determination. Keith attended City College of New York, where he earned a degree in communications. From a young age, Keith had a passion for music, which he pursued while working as a brokerage assistant on Wall Street.
Biography and Career
Keith Sweat's musical journey began in the late 1970s when he joined a Harlem band called Jamilah. His unique voice and charismatic presence quickly made him a standout member. However, it wasn't until the mid-1980s that Keith's solo career took off. In 1987, he signed with Vintertainment Records and released his debut album, "Make It Last Forever." The album was a massive success, selling over three million copies and earning him his first hit single, "I Want Her." This song reached number one on the R&B charts and made its mark on the Billboard Hot 100.
