UPPER DECK TAPS ARTIST DAN DOS SANTOS FOR NEWEST MARVEL MASTERPIECES TRADING CARD SET
Upper Deck invites trading card collectors to experience iconic Marvel characters in an entirely new style, commissioned by a true master.
CARLSBAD, CA (June 21, 2023) – Upper Deck, a worldwide leader in sports and entertainment collectibles, today announced the return of Marvel Masterpieces trading cards, a collector-favorite, unveiling the set’s artist, Dan dos Santos, an American speculative fiction artist.
The Marvel Masterpieces Collection was first introduced in 1992 by SkyBox International, and Upper Deck re-introduced the Marvel Masterpieces brand in 2007. In 2016, Upper Deck began releasing editions of Marvel Masterpieces that featured a singular well-known artist. Now, Upper Deck is adding a new iteration of these rare trading cards by working with Dan dos Santos to create an all-encompassing trading card set that taps into the fantasy of Marvel characters.

As a five-time nominee of the “Hugo Award” for best artist and his illustrations landing on the #1 spot of the New York Times Best Sellers List, Dan dos Santos’ work has reached worldwide audiences and has influenced artwork across the Fantasy market. He brings his own creative process and composition style to offer fans a unique look at Marvel. As fans unbox these premium cards, they will get an inside look at dos Santos’ style as it showcases a multitude of Super Heroes, including Spider-Man, Black Panther, and Captain America.
“The original Marvel Masterpiece set is one of the major reasons I began painting in the first place. The 2023 edition of Marvel Masterpieces is set to release in July. This set will include popular trading card inserts like Battle Spectra, Preliminary Art, Mirage and Gallery cards. Collectors will be able to find these cards at Certified Diamond Dealers, Authorized Internet Retailers (AIRs), and via Upper Deck e-Pack. Upper Deck plans to share more information and previews of the cards through various channels as they approach the product’s release.
