This is the first of a four-chapter unit dealing with the fall of Judah and Jerusalem. Chapter 20 begins with elders going to Ezekiel to request an audience with God through him. God clearly tells them that, not only does he not want to speak to them, but he will not speak to them. Verses 1-4 of Chapter 20 hold great significance for me. In my personal study of Ezekiel, I came to understand that, even though they were God's chosen people, they had no relationship with him a very detestable form of apostasy. God makes his intentions of judgement very clear throughout the chapter and it closes with promises of restoration.
