Elon Musk FINALLY REVEALS Release Date Of Tesla’s Cheapest Car At $15k!
Tesla investors who were hoping Elon Musk would introduce the reasonably priced Model 2, which they also anticipated to be unveiled during Investor Day, were let down once more. Elon didn't officially introduce Tesla's first mass market budget-friendly EV, but he did imply that new models are currently being "built" and "designed," which might mean that the eventual Model 2 is already in the early technical verification stages. There will soon be a brand-new, high-volume Tesla. That appears to be true.
Elon Musk recently made this point clear, which led to rumors regarding the $15,000 car he mentioned earlier.
At the 2023 Annual Shareholder Meeting, Musk revealed the "new product" as a silhouette and stated the following:
“I just want to emphasize that we are actually building a new product...we are actually designing a new product...we're not sitting in our hands.”
When production is completely scaled up, the two new models will "probably" sell 5 million units yearly, proving that they are really mass market electric vehicles. Tesla even went so far as to tease the general shape of one of its upcoming new models once more, although it didn't reveal anything that hadn't already been hinted at in promotional videos or presentations. The silhouette is quite unremarkable, however the Model 2 was last said to resemble a smaller Model Y, and during Elon Musk's speech, something that looked like such a silhouette was displayed on the screen.
Tesla displayed an infographic with two new mystery vehicles it has in development during Investor Day. The 2023 shareholder meeting included a second appearance of the same infographic on stage. It featured a single huge model from the Cybertruck's van and pickup category as well as a brand-new category with the number 700,000,000 written on top of it. The second type is considerably smaller than the Cybertruck-class model, and Tesla seems to believe that it will sell almost twice as many units as the Model 3 and Model Y combined.
This can only imply that this is Tesla's first inexpensive electric vehicle, the base model of which is said to start at around $15,000 before subsidies. These two new mass market EVs from Tesla will be "head and shoulders above everyone else," hinted Musk about their design and production.
Elon Musk revealed that the new Gigafactory in Mexico will be a key part of the manufacturing puzzle that will enable Tesla to attain the coveted output number of 20 million vehicles per year, adding further fuel to that specific rumor mill. A PowerPoint showing the Giga Mexico teaser was used to make the assertion that Tesla's future facility in Nuevo León would be "manufacturing [the] next gen vehicle."
The Mexican Gigafactory is allegedly planning to start producing as early as next summer and increase its capacity to 2 million units per year, according to a rumor that was spread along with the assertion that the alleged Model 2 will actually be a smaller, less expensive version of the Model Y rather than the Model 3.
Elon Musk did confirm that special launch events will be held for Tesla's forthcoming mass-market electric automobiles.
