Rinu's Englishpedia A saga of adventure and courage where grit and determination helped a father to fight the odds and save his family. It reveals how unity and optimism keeps a family together and helps in overcoming direct stress. The video talks about the exemplary courage showed by two young children - Suzanne and Jonathan and the cheerfulness of Larry Vigil and Herb Seigler, the two crewmen who did not lose their spirits till the end. Also the crucial support extended by Mary to her husband - Gordon Cook (the narrator), offers important instances of the unity which kept the family safe.
In order to duplicate the 200 year old journey by James Cook, Gordon Cook and his family spent every leisure moment perfecting the seafaring skills for 16 years. They built a sturdy boat 'Wavewalker' and practised in the roughest seas. Finally they set out but during the second leg of their journey, they encountered a ferocious storm which not only almost destroyed their boat but they also managed to lose a lot of important equipment.
However the family did not give up and fought the storm and finally reached Ile Amsterdam - a French Scientific Base
It was after this incident that it was discovered that Suzzane's headbump which had been almost overlooked, required 6 minor operations to remove the recurring blood clot in between the skull and the skin.
Jonathan's words - we're not afraid to die if we can all be together, played a significant role in encouraging the father to not give up and hence the significance of the title.
