I’m continuing my Walk along The Hogsmill River in Surrey and picking it up at Old Malden near the A3. Starting from its source in Ewell, the River is a Chalk Stream Tributary that flows into the River Thames at Kingston and used to be a hive of Industrial activity with many Mills along the Route (including Gunpowder Mills) until 1875 when they couldn’t meet new Safety Legislations. Along this part of the Route, I’m also looking for the spot where Pre-Raphaelite Artist Sir John Everett Millais did the Background Plates and Sketches for his Painting 'Ophelia' the Tragic Heroine from William Shakespeare's play HAMLET. The Painting is now in The Tate Gallery in London.
