A soft babbling waterfall trickles gently over the smooth stone as it cascades into the pond below. A school of orange and black Koi fish circle lazily beneath the rippling surface. Lily pads bask in the sunlight above while cherry blossom flowers float delicately around the edges of the pond. Wind nudges the leaves on the trees causing the beams of warm, evening light to shift effortlessly across the gardens. Everything is at peace.
This is the exact intention of this week's cocktail recipe. Life moves fast and sometimes it's hard to find peace in all of it. Hopefully, this recipe that Sharon came up with can offer up just a little bit of zen from the chaos around us.
Combining the beautiful and rich notes of Japanese Whisky with the sweet and tart flavors of gin made with sloe berries, the "Koi Pond" delivers the perfect amount of sweetness and spice while transporting you to the edge of the serenity of a Japanese garden's deep in the foothills of Mt. Fuji.
INGREDIENTS:
► 2 oz Suntory Toki Japanese Whisky
► ¾ oz Hayman's Sloe Gin
► 1½ oz fresh-squeezed lime juice
► ½ oz honey simple syrup
► 2-4 dashes of Fee Foam (or egg white)
INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Grab your cocktail shaker
2. Combine whisky, sloe gin, lime juice, simple syrup, and Fee Foam in a shaker.
3. Dry shake (no ice).
4. Add ice & shake.
5. Double strain into a coupe glass.
