HOW GOD SEES YOU?

YOUR IDENTITY IN CHRIST: HOW GOD SEES YOU?

*Identity refers to the personality, expressions, and beliefs that make a person and can be either positive or destructive.

*Why is an identity important?
Having an identity can give you a sense of belonging, which is important to your wellbeing and confidence. You might make friends with others who have similar interests to you. This will make you both more optimistic and also more open to people from different backgrounds.

* If you base your identity on things like success, wealth, power, physical appearance, and so on, you are setting yourself up for great disappointment
*God, however, is unchanging. He is reliable. He is the same yesterday, today and forever. If you find your identity in Him, you will never ultimately be let down because He has proven time and time again to be trustworthy.
*Understanding your identity in God starts with understanding who He is, what He says about Himself, and what He says about you. Your identity can be defined by who God is making you to be in His image.

*How God Sees His Children
To be able to understand your identity as a follower of Christ, you need to understand how He sees you.
*Your true identity is ultimately based on what God has done for you.

What He says about you?
1. You are Loved (John3:16)
In Christ, you are loved. You were created with a purpose. You are not just a convenient carbon copy of someone else. You were created uniquely and with intention. God lovingly designed every detail of your person.

2. You Are Chosen (Eph1:4)
In Christ, you are not only loved but chosen. God sent His own Son to earth to die in your place so that you could be included in His family.
You are no mistake. You are chosen and wanted.

3. You Are Forgiven (Eph1:7)
What you’ve done wrong is not counted against you, and all that Christ did right is counted for you. This forgiveness allows you to be considered a child of God.
From His perspective, you are without sin. It’s not that you won’t sin, but when He looks at you, He calls you forgiven.

4. You Are Redeemed
When God looks at you, He does not see a former sinner. He does not see you in light of who you once were. He sees you as redeemed: a new creation that has been made whole.

5.You Are Adopted - Eph1:5
You are considered a legitimate child of the God of the universe, having all the rights and standing of Jesus His Son.

*You are His child, and He will never take that away.
Conclusion: In Christ, you are loved. Your identity is a child of God.
