Predaval bo Shuhei Sato, naslov predavanja je ''Zgodovina gorskih zaselkov na Japonskem od 1960-ih let dalje: Osredotočanje na upadanje števila prebivalcev in obvladovanje naravnih nesreč." Predavanje bo v angleškem jeziku.
Predstavil bom zgodovino okrožja Fudo v prefekturi Niigata, ki ga sestavljajo trije zaselki, kjer ljudje živijo na goratem, plazovitem in zasneženem območju. Najprej bom opisal generacijo, rojeno med letoma 1946 in 1955, ki je prebivala v svojih zaselkih in jih vzdrževala. Drugič, razložil bom, da so javna dela, namenjena preprečevanju zemeljskih plazov, tej generaciji zagotovila zaposlitvene možnosti. The lecture will be given by Shuhei Sato, and the title of the lecture is "The history of mountainous hamlets in Japan since the 1960s: Focusing on population decline and disaster control". The lecture will be in English.
I will present the history of the Fudo district in Niigata prefecture, consisting of three hamlets where people live in a mountainous, landslide-prone, and snowy area. First, I will describe the generation born between 1946 and 1955, residing in and maintaining their hamlets. Second, I will explain that public works aimed at preventing landslides provided employment opportunities for this generation. Finally, I will discuss how the reduction in employment opportunities, such as public works, and the aging of this generation may lead to the disappearance of hamlets in mountainous areas in Japan.
