La Boheme. Sally finds herself in Paris, and the next silver spoon is in the hands of a renowned art critic. Will the friendship she strikes up with a struggling young painter help her in her quest to collect them all? Meanwhile, Tallulah is less than enthusiastic about venturing outdoors due to a calendar-related superstition. This episode was first broadcast on Tuesday, 21st February, 1989, and there's some nice Children's ITV continuity featuring Mark Granger and Scally at beginning and end.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: words simply cannot convey just how much I used to love this show way back when. And, while I've got nothing at all against the wonderful Georgina Hale (who took over the lead role after this series), Elizabeth Estensen is the T-Bag many of us fell in love with in the first place. Or loved to hate, anyway. Or did we hate her? No: we *did* love T-Bag, but we sort of loved at her rather than with her, if you get my drift. She was a supremely evil character who thought nothing of tormenting children for her own gain, but there's something funny to the point of being endearing about a character who's just so irrationally angry at all times. And the on-screen chemistry between her and T-Shirt - played by John Hasler - has never been bettered in children's television. Ever.

Anyway, there's a fine turn by John Savident in this episode, playing Monsieur Claude. Keep your ears open, too, for some puns and wordplay that you just can't help but roll your eyes at. A painter named Vincent Van Driver? His address being on the Rue de Noys? Honestly! At least he gets to live in a studio so tall it looks *down* on the Eiffel Tower, thanks to the set backdrop. All part of the charm of the show! (And that's not to mention the 'Allo 'Allo reference, the clever plotting resulting in crossed purposes, and Tallulah's cartoonish over-reactions to even the thought of something going wrong.) Incidentally, I can't seem to find out much about the other guest star, Peter Ledbury - anyone?

Many thanks to Lee for providing this recording.
