Today I'll be going over my Block II M4 setup, as well as going over my experience using a real Block II while I was in the 75th Ranger Regiment.
The Block II was the first weapon I was issued when I got to Ranger Batt, and was the first weapon I seriously trained on/deployed with, prior to becoming a SAW gunner.
Since getting out of the Army, I always wanted a rifle setup that was similar to the rifle I was issued, which is a common thing amongst veterans. DESIRE TO ACQUIRE M249 INCREASES (with fun mode).
I always liked the rifle, largely due to its beefy RIS II rail, and its reliability in the field. Also, I primarily like to run Aks (and lift weights), so the added weight of the RIS II rail was almost of no concern to me, with it's ruggedness outweighing it's actual weight.
All of these factors are what drew me to acquiring this setup, as opposed to other lightweight AR15 options with MLOK (Also, AR15s are generally kind of uninteresting to me)
All I did was get a Daniel Defense M4A1 upper, and slap it on the Brownells M16A1 lower I was previously using on my Retro Middy.
This isn't a "clone correct" Block II, as that would require me to obtain parts from Colt, and other things I could care less about, but the rifle is functionally the same (if not better) as the rifle I used while I was in.
