Learn German with our street interviews: In this episode we meet Deniz in Müllheim, a town in the south of Germany, near the Swiss border. She speaks Alemannic, a dialect group spoken mainly in the southwest, which includes Swiss German dialects. We compare words in standard German and Alemannic and learn, among other things, how to greet each other in Alemannic, what "Grummbiere" are, and why "Schmutz" is not the same as "dirt" in standard German. Finally, Cari takes the test: Can she understand an entire poem in Alemannic?
Lernt Deutsch mit unseren Straßeninterviews: In dieser Episode treffen wir Deniz in Müllheim, eine Stadt im Süden von Deutschland, nahe der Schweizer Grenze. Sie spricht Alemannisch, eine Dialektgruppe, die hauptsächlich im Südwesten gesprochen wird und zu der auch die schweizerdeutschen Dialekte gehören. Wir vergleichen Wörter im Standarddeutschen und Alemannischen und lernen dabei unter anderem, wie man sich auf Alemannisch begrüßt, was "Grummbiere" sind und warum "Schmutz" nicht gleich "Schmutz" ist. Zum Schluss macht Cari den Test: Kann sie ein ganzes Gedicht auf Alemannisch verstehen?
