Darren Myatt, who runs the channel Hamza's Den, claims that he has destroyed Christianity in under a minute using only one verse from the Gospel of John. He says that John 17:3 proves that the Father alone is God. But that's not what the verse says. Jesus said the Father is the Only True God. Trinitarians agree. But those who believe in the Trinity will also say that the Son is the only true God and that the Holy Spirit is the only true God. The reason why we can say that is because we believe they are all the same God. There is not three Gods, only one God and each member of the Trinity can be identified as the only true God. John 17:3 is commonly used to attack the doctrine of the Trinity but the argument people use assumes a definition of God that is inconsistent with the teaching of the bible. If we view the passage through the lens of the Trinity, then the difficulty disappears. Christians take the totality of scripture into consideration instead of cherry picking certain verses.
