Sölden is one of the most popular ski regions in Austria. At an altitude of 3000 m there is a mountain station for the tourists. As it is built on permafrost stone that can shift, it stands on a hydraulic base that adapts to the moving ground. In 2010, one of the most modern cable cars in the world was built to bring guests to the station. Michael Gritsch is responsible for maintaining the cable cars. In his revision he checks every reel, every rope – whilst standing on a moving cable car. The most important requirement for the job: a head for heights.
