I believe that we are seeing a concerted plan on behalf of the powers that be to collapse the financial system, and then present their solution to the desperate masses. I think the goal is to crash the global economy, in what could be a recession worse than the 2008 one and to then offer CBDC's to save the day. They might even call them "freedom coins." The central bankers have had this planned all along. They have devalued the dollar and we have unsustainable levels of debt.
The big banks are now benefiting from special protections that small and regional banks do not. How is that for a free market?
