This sermon will make you hungry. Guest speaker Reverend Jon Visitacion, Spiritual Care Counselor of Hospice of Santa Cruz County tells us that he loves to cook. And he loves to create something new, unique, and tasty from leftovers. He likens this to today’s scripture from Luke 17, verses 5-10. The writer of Luke likely had access to the previously written gospels of Mark and Matthew. From these he creates a new narrative, expressly prepared for a gentile audience, using bits and pieces of various parables. As we, and our churches, grow older, it’s tempting to hearken back longingly to some past heyday – especially in times of uncertainty and transition. But Rev. Jon says that we can make new and exciting things for now and our future by staying hungry for ministering, creating, and loving in faith.
