C: Through him all things were made, without him nothing was made that was made.
L: In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind
C: The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, Jesus Christ, full of grace and truth.

Prayer of Confession
Almighty God, you are rich in mercy to all who call upon your name. Hear us as we come to you humbly confessing our sins and seeking your forgiveness. We have broken your holy laws by our deeds and word, by the sinful affections of our hearts. Grant us O Lord, a heart that is set free from selfish desires, and a mind to hear and speak your true life-giving Word, to ourselves and to one another. Your Word, O Lord, is a lamp unto our feet and a light unto our path. Be our strength in weakness, our light in darkness, and our wisdom in uncertainty. We ask all this in Jesus’ name. Amen.
