Literally took almost 2 years for someone to call me out on my uneducated caveman ways. Thanks Spiccoli Rocks mentioning the tool that was specifically made to drive these inserts! I had no idea... Consider me, and anyone else who checks out this video, educated.

Threaded inserts are the perfect addition to a project if you have any items you plan on removing repeatedly, such as a panel. I purchased these inserts for a mirror project I am currently working on:
E-Z Lok Threaded Insert, Brass, Knife Thread, #8-32 Internal Threads, 0.375" Length (Pack of 25) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B002WC8TPW/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_0zwdzbG5BSF7Q
The problem with these inserts is that they were designed to be driven into the wood by a flathead screw driver. I tested using a flat head the first few times on a spare piece of wood. I found that it was extremely easy to damage or destroy the insert.
The technique shown is what I found to be the most beneficial. Most people working with these type of inserts should be able to use this method without issue.
