Max Champion was born in 1882 in London’s East End and is thought to have been related to the great Victorian entertainer Harry Champion. As an up-and-coming performer he shared the stage with big stars such as Gus Ellen and Vesta Tilley, but his career (much like the Music Hall era itself) was cut short by the First World War, and his songs faded into obscurity. That is, until 2014, when Max Champion sheet music started to surface: first in Malta, then in England, and, intriguingly, in Belgium, where Max probably met his end in the trenches. By 2019, enough songs had been recovered for Joe Jackson to resurrect them with a 12-piece orchestra.

This song was the beginning for our project. I had written Outlanders in 2010 and asked Torsten to work on it, because the song had a different feel compared to my other songs.
I got my inspiration from Alan Parson’s songs “Return to Tunguska” and “L’Arc en Ciel” where David Gilmour plays the guitar. I wanted to create something similar, but to add my vocals to it. My own collaboration with Schiller for the song “Tired of Being Alone” planted the seed and I felt there was something else out there for me to try out.
I thought of using my voice as an instrument and why not, some spoken texts could fit into that relaxed mood.
Throughout many years I had also been inspired by author Paulo Coelho’s books, so I contacted Paulo to ask permission to use some of his texts for the song. I was willing to speak about following your dreams and who could do that better than Paulo.
When I wrote the song, at that time, I was still living in Buenos Aires where I had made friends with Argentinean guitarist Walter Giardino. I asked him to play on it and he did an amazing job.
When I had the song ready, with Torsten living in Antigua, Walter in Spain, Paulo in Switzerland and myself in Argentina, the name came as a sign and Outlanders the song, and therefore the project and concept was born.
CREATION OF THE VISUALIZER
I was visiting Antigua quite often at the time when we filmed this first visualizer for the project. It was way back in 2012 and I was pregnant. We decided to shoot images in The Outlook in English Harbour and on the beach nearby the place where I was staying and, in the ruins, just next to it. In this visualizer you can see a younger me reading Paulo Coelho’s inspiring quotes and feel the majesty of the ocean that surrounds the island of Antigua.

New Model Army are a band who continue to thrive outside of any singular genre. Throughout their long and storied career, they have taken the road less travelled, shunning fame and instead, with each successive album, pushing boundaries of creativity.
It is the same music-first approach that has led to this year’s “Sinfonia”. Recorded at Tempodrom, Berlin on July 15th 2022, with Sinfonia Leipzig and conducted by Cornelius During, it may seem like an obvious evolution, however, in true New Model Army style they have broken the barriers between band and orchestra, redefining that relationship and defying expectation. All songs have been arranged for orchestra by long-time friend and guest violinist Shir-Ran Yinon, who, in collaboration with the band, created something unique but staying true to New Model Army.
The show opens with the fully orchestral ‘Overture’, but from the initial notes of ‘Devil’s Bargain’ to the closing of ‘Wonderful Way To Go’, it is a journey through vital and visceral music, elevating the songs with power and sensitivity and resulting in an album subverting the expectations of the well-trodden path between rock bands and orchestras. New Model Army’s music lends itself perfectly to this fresh interpretation without losing its individuality. Experimentation without compromise is a hallmark of New Model Army, and one of the primary reasons they are respected and revered.
“Sinfonia” will become available as a double-CD hardcover Mediabook, triple 180g vinyl gatefold, digital download and streaming. All first print CD and vinyl LP editions will include the full show on DVD.
A strictly limited earBOOK edition with double CD, DVD, Blu-ray, 80-page book and an exclusive bonus CD with 8 songs from the band’s SO36 show in Berlin on July 17th 2022, as well as various bundles will become available via an exclusive direct to consumer web shop.

In 1971 did not only Apollo 14 land on the moon, but it was also the birthyear of Torsten Stenzel, half of the Outlanders.
1971 is Torsten’s composition. He had written the song some time ago and we decided it to add my voice and give to it the Outlanders treatment.
I thought it was a good idea to check what truly happened in the world on the day Torsten was born. I found an old cover of Argentinean Clarin newspaper and read the headlines of the day.
The Queen of the Sea and spring celebrations gave me the inspiration for the text of the song. This is another song where I am using my voice more like an instrument and Walter Giardino is colouring the song with his incredible guitar performance.
1971 was overall a pretty dark year with a raging Vietnam War and the song has an intentional darker undertone that gets carried from Walter’s spacy guitars too. We also added some Moog Synth baselines that gives a certain depth.
1971 comes in waves like the Ocean.
CREATION OF THE VISUALIZER
In 1971 visualizer we visit famous English Harbour in Antigua. Especially you see me strolling next to the houses in cultural heritage site of Nelson’s Dockyard. Every year the Sailing Week and Charter Yacht meetings are happening here. It’s a place worth to visit to learn some history of the island and enjoy a beautiful hike to Shirley Heights, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

which she met to welcome the season of flowers.
The parade that included a dozen carriages
was part of a warm and bright celebration
that happened in that evening in 1971.

It’s monstrous and definitely a stage song.”

Released in 1990, the album was the first release by Kai Hansen after leaving Helloween.
A curiosity: the very first edition of the album was attributed to Kai Hansen.
Inside a LP sized overcover, fans would discover the Gamma Ray name for the first time, through the cover we all know.
The album was remastered in 2015 and reissued as part of the “25 years of Gamma Ray” celebration with a second CD full of rarities.
The video has been restored and the audio is the most recent remastered version. Enjoy!

Since we started the project of Outlanders, I had always felt that “Mystique Voyage” would fit perfectly for it. When it was the time to put the album together, I wanted to revisit my song again.
Instead of singing the song in Finnish and Spanish like in the original song, I wrote English lyrics for it and wished the guitar to take over the main melody in the choruses.
As I truly admire guitarist Steve Rothery from Marillion, his sound and the way he plays, I asked him to take part.
I was very happy that he understood what I was looking for the song and he managed his guitar to sing with me. Now you can enjoy a new Mystique Voyage that will take you to another path of the same journey.

CREATION OF THE VISUALIZER
For the visualizer of Mystique Voyage we used images from Antigua’s classic yacht Regatta that happens every year. It is a major happening on the island.
There is a gunpowder house/museum in English Harbour where you can see me walking and singing around. It’s an interesting place for those seeking knowledge about Antigua’s history.
For thousands of years, the Atlantic’s waves have crashed into the east coast of Antigua creating a natural arch, or bridge. Numerous geysers and blowholes surround the arch as waves continually break against the coastal rocks. I was always stunned by the natural beauty and water’s power at Devil’s bridge.

‘Warm By The Fire’, the mini-movie is a collaboration between Lloyd Cole and Canadian film maker Doug Arrowsmith from Feltfilm. It was filmed on the shores of Lake Ontario, and features an interpretive performance by dance artist Nyda Kwasowsky from the National Ballet School of Canada; the video is further punctuated by a handful of Toronto skaters and global riot footage, interspersed with Lloyd’s AI generated images of LA.
Says Lloyd Cole: “I wanted skateboards. Doug found Nyda. We’ve ended up with a dance interpretive of something which may or may not be happening.”
Says Doug Arrowsmith: “We were looking for a way to create a kind of game-like repetition of images at the core of the video, fuelled by Kwasowsky’s celebration of the insurgency. Lloyd is very fast – the entire thing was shot and delivered in just under a week. And can I just add…. I MEAN COME ON!! IT’S LLOYD COLE! ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME!? His music has been massive for me. I remember hauling hordes of people back to my place from a university party to make them watch Lloyd perform on the David Letterman Show. Thirty kids huddled around a TV in the dead of Canadian winter. Amazing. Different works for different seasons, the songs are crucial. Always will be.”
On 23rd June ‘23 Lloyd Cole will release his twelfth album as a solo artist. Entitled ‘On Pain’, it features eight new Lloyd Cole songs, four of which are co-written by Commotions founding members Blair Cowan and Neil Clark, who also perform on the record. The album is produced by Chris Merrick Hughes and was recorded in Lloyd’s attic studio The Establishment in Massachusetts.

As for the last single for Outlanders before the album release, I was happy to revisit my own Oasis. The very first song that I wrote and that got released back in the days, which makes the song very close to my heart.
With Outlanders the song is reborn as we managed to take it to a different place which I could have never imagined when I wrote it just with my piano 16 years ago.
I decided to write English lyrics to make it special for Outlanders.
I was still living in Buenos Aires, Argentina when I asked my local friend, guitarist Walter Giardino to put his magic into A Peaceful Place (Return to the Oasis). Walter was the very first guitar player that helped us to start with Outlanders and he really captured the soul and idea of what we were looking for it with Torsten. In A Peaceful Place (Return to the Oasis) you can hear his amazing talent both with acoustic and electric guitars.
I hope my song can take you to a different journey and that you could find a peaceful place where you can feel safe and free.
CREATION OF THE VISUALIZER
There are few tiny islands close by Antigua and one of them is Great Bird Island that lies on the north coast and is part of the Antigua’s marine park.
I have had the pleasure to visit this picturesque island, only accessible by boat several times. The island is known from its extensive bird population and wonderful views.
We filmed the visualizer for “A Peaceful Place (Return to the Oasis)” there together with Torsten. The day was sunny and beautiful, and I remember that it was sometimes barely impossible to film, because of the heavy wind, but we managed. Our song needed a tranquil place away from people and The Great Bird island was a perfect spot for it.

Stratovarius - one of the most famous symphonic metal bands in the world, managed to establish themselves as one of the top names in the metal scene and have since influenced bands all over the world.
The Finnish band gained international success with albums like “Fourth Dimension” (1995), “Episode” (1996) and their epic project “Elements,Pt.1” (a peak in their Progressive and Symphonic style of Power Metal) and “Elements, Pt.2” - to name just a few of the band‘s milestones.
At the latest with their fifth album “Episode” Stratovarius had found their sound and followers like “Destiny” (1998) and “Infinite” (2000) helped expanding their fame and fan-base.
After 2005‘s “Stratovarius” the band released “Polaris” in 2009 - this at the time being their 12th studio album, but also a brand new start after guitarist and band leader TimoTolkki had left the band after ongoing fights. Instead of being a difficult re-start “Polaris” showed Stratovarius on top form and still able to captivate people all over the world: “Polaris“ became a hell of a comeback and charted higher than the previous releases around the globe. 2011 not only marked the release of the band‘s 13th, most successful and best album to date but also the announcement of long term member and drummer Jörg Michael‘s withdrawal who left the band after 15 years for personal reasons.
The news of Jörg‘s withdrawal in September 2011 was a shock for all Stratovarius fans.
To say goodbye to a friend, hero and member who characterized the band‘s sound for over a decade, the band headed to a 5 show spanning Farewell Tour in Finland in November.
Stratovarius released a 2h spanning live show filmed and recorded in Tampere, Finland, November 19th 2011. This is one of the very last shows with drummer and key-member Jörg Michael.

Marathon are approaching the finishing line step by step!
One month before the release of the band’s debut album “Mark Kelly’s Marathon”, on November 27th, the band around Marillion’s keyboard player Mark Kelly tackle the subject of modern and global love with the new single "This Time".
The song explores how in today's world long distance relationships regularly span thousands of miles in the absence of shared physical experience. When even time zones are different, these relationships must thrive online or whither and die.
It is a song about how both the times together and apart can be more meaningful.
Mixed by “Doves” producer Dan Austin, this Beatles influenced pop/rock song comes along with a brand new and very colourful music video.
Together with Oliver Smith (vocals), John Cordy (guitar), Pete “Woody” Wood (guitar), Henry Rogers (drums) and his nephew Conal Kelly (bass & Guitar), Mark Kelly turned his vision into reality. Marillion bandmate Steve Rothery also played lead guitar on the song “Puppets”.

“Carnival” was first released in September 2005, 25 years into New Model Army’s career.
“In the long history of New Model Army, it is the albums made between 2000-2009 that are usually the least feted.”, says band leader Justin Sullivan. “It was a strange period for us. Partly we were finding our feet after the departure (and later passing) of Robert (Heaton) and still absorbing the lessons of the long, costly, and less than satisfying ‘Strange Brotherhood’ era of the mid ‘90s. ‘Eight’ (released in 2000) was a simple reaction to the latter, a ‘primitive’ album, really just a set of demos, put together quickly by Michael (Dean), Dean (White) and myself. ‘Carnival’ was a different kind of project, ambitiously conceived as a swirling, eclectic fairground of sound as my new creative partnership with Michael began to develop, and with an endless stream of ideas from Nelson, Dean and Dave (Blomberg) being thrown into the mix.
We perhaps chose the wrong producer in Chris Tsangarides, who was not cut out to control and steer the chaos around him; and things were made more complicated by the frequent absence of Nelson and Dave (who was in the process of leaving the band for family reasons). We always felt that this was the one album where the recording, mixing and mastering didn’t bring the end result close to what we had originally intended. So, when earMUSIC declared their interest in licensing and reissuing the album, we discovered four associated tracks (B-sides and unreleased songs) to add to it and saw an opportunity to ‘reimagine’ the album as a whole.”
The band found all the original recordings and gave them to Lee Smith, co-producer and mixer of their recent albums, including last year’s “From Here” (their highest charting album ever, in both Germany and the UK) and “Carnival” has been reborn with a sound that is far sharper and more powerful and cohesive than the original.
The album still begins with a birth (‘Water’ leads with the ultrasound of Michael’s first son) and ends with a death in ‘Fireworks Night’ – a heartfelt and emotionally tangled tribute to Robert Heaton, who had left the band for health reasons in 1998 and died in November 2004, during the making of the record; but the running order has been altered to enhance the flow of the new dynamics and four newly added songs. ‘Rumour and Rapture 1650’ was originally written by Sullivan for the theatrical tour of “Freeborn John”, Rev Hammer’s English Civil War concept album, and tells the story of a disillusioned Parliamentarian soldier at the end of the war. ‘Caslen (Christmas)’ was originally a Nelson acoustic guitar instrumental but here has added words. ‘One Bullet’ and ‘Stoned, Fired and Full of Grace’ were previously known as live acoustic tracks but these are previously unreleased full-band versions.
Elsewhere the band cover their customary eclectic subject matter: the explosive ‘Red Earth’ inspired by their 2004 visit to South Africa, an early study of the refugee crisis in the hip-hop influenced ‘Another Imperial Day’ and the 2001 Bradford Riots told from the unusual point of view of an exhausted policeman (‘Carlisle Road’) and a wealth of musical invention from the orchestral strangeness of ‘Bluebeat’, fully realised at last, to the pounding rhythms of ‘Too Close to the Sun’, ‘BD3’ and ‘Island’.

“We are aware that it is very dangerous for a band to ‘go back’”, says Sullivan, “so we made one absolute rule, that we wouldn’t re-record anything and we’d ask Lee to remix it using only the original multi-tracks, without too much involvement from us. Some songs have changed very little, others quite a lot. And to our minds, this has worked well and has enhanced the album’s principle qualities, particularly the wealth of original musical ideas, at last arranged in a sonically satisfying way. We hope you enjoy it.”
The album will become available on November 20th, 2020 as a Limited CD Hardcover Media Book Edition as well as for the first time ever on vinyl - as a Strictly Limited Heavyweight Double LP Gatefold Edition on White Vinyl.

Stratovarius - one of the most famous symphonic metal bands in the world, managed to establish themselves as one of the top names in the metal scene and have since influenced bands all over the world.
The Finnish band gained international success with albums like “Fourth Dimension” (1995), “Episode” (1996) and their epic project “Elements,Pt.1” (a peak in their Progressive and Symphonic style of Power Metal) and “Elements, Pt.2” - to name just a few of the band‘s milestones.
At the latest with their fifth album “Episode” Stratovarius had found their sound and followers like “Destiny” (1998) and “Infinite” (2000) helped expanding their fame and fan-base.
After 2005‘s “Stratovarius” the band released “Polaris” in 2009 - this at the time being their 12th studio album, but also a brand new start after guitarist and band leader TimoTolkki had left the band after ongoing fights. To say goodbye to a friend, hero and member who characterized the band‘s sound for over a decade, the band headed to a 5 show spanning Farewell Tour in Finland in November.
Stratovarius released a 2h spanning live show filmed and recorded in Tampere, Finland, November 19th 2011. This is one of the very last shows with drummer and key-member Jörg Michael.
