He told a press briefing in Kampala today that the majority of African economies in this situation should be targeting growth levels of about 7 percent from 5 percent if they are to attain aspirations of reducing poverty. According to a recent Bank of Uganda report, "In February 2024, the weakening of the Uganda Shilling during the period was due to offshore exit due to more attractive yields in competing markets, strong domestic demand partly as a hedging mechanism against future depreciation, and seasonal factors." ··· ··· ··· ··· Opposition leaders may choose instead to concentrate on attacking the government through the media, where they reach a larger audience. They have a constant dilemma in that they need to criticize ministers while also projecting themselves in a statesmanlike light as a government in waiting. The leader of the opposition does, however, have certain opportunities to hold the government to account. Opposition parties are not in a strong position to hold the government to account in Parliament unless its majority is small. In Uganda, the trend is shifting, with the NRM accused of buying opposition support, which has almost led to the drain of opposition parties. Recently, the NUP has been rowdy in allegations of the attempted change of allegiance of NUP councilors to the NRM. Is this the end of the opposition? #NTVNews #NTVTonight #NTVWeekendEdition Subscribe to Our Channel For more news visit http://www.ntv.co.ug Follow us on Twitter http://www.twitter.com/ntvuganda Connect with us on Messenger via m.me/NTVUganda

31:: Court halts sale of muslim property in Kampala amid fraud dispute

01.01.1970 · 01:00:00 ··· 14.12.2023 · 10:30:19 ··· ···
··· ··· ··· ··· The Court of Appeal in Kampala has issued an injunction, temporarily halting the sale of prime Muslim property in Kampala city. The decision follows an application by the Uganda Muslim Supreme Council, which aimed to prevent businessman Justus Kyabahwa from auctioning their property. The council owed Kyabahwa 19.2 billion shillings due to a fraudulent land transaction. The three presiding justices, Deputy Chief Justice Richard Buteera, Geoffrey Kiryabwire, and Irene Mulyagonja, granted the application but reserved the detailed reasons for overturning their colleague Justice Christopher Gashirabake's decision for a later date. The Uganda Muslim Supreme Council, dissatisfied with Justice Gashirabake's ruling, appealed before a panel of three justices. This temporary relief means Kyabahwa cannot attach the Muslim property until the final hearing and disposal of the appeal challenging the commercial court's judgment. The judgment had condemned the Uganda Muslim Supreme Council to pay Kyabahwa 18.9 billion shillings for failing to provide vacant possession of a piece of land sold to him in Ssembabule. #NTVNews #NTVTonight #NTVWeekendEdition Subscribe to Our Channel For more news visit http://www.ntv.co.ug Follow us on Twitter http://www.twitter.com/ntvuganda Connect with us on Messenger via m.me/NTVUganda

01.01.1970 · 01:00:00 ··· 14.12.2023 · 07:16:08 ··· ···
··· ··· ··· ··· Film-induced tourism is currently one of the fastest-growing segments in the tourism industry. It gained prominence in the 1990s, evolving into a significant driver of tourism. Before this, there were only fleeting mentions of film tourism by academics and in anecdotes. In the latter half of the 20th century, the influence of cinema on destination choice was spontaneous and unplanned. However, since the last decade of the century, this influence has been acknowledged. Nowadays, the impact of audiovisual productions on a destination's image is widely recognized. To explore various aspects of this phenomenon, we are joined by Christopher Tourneur, a filmmaker and Head of Yavanti (Production house), Pierre Gatignol, a still photographer, and Mercy Twinomujuni, a filmmaker and employee at the Embassy of France in Uganda. #NTVNews #NTVTonight #NTVWeekendEdition Subscribe to Our Channel For more news visit http://www.ntv.co.ug Follow us on Twitter http://www.twitter.com/ntvuganda Connect with us on Messenger via m.me/NTVUganda

The focal point of COP28 was the Global Stocktake (GST), an assessment process designed to evaluate global progress towards achieving the climate goals set by the 2015 Paris Agreement, which concluded at COP28. The climate summit of 2023, occurring at the conclusion of the hottest year on record, once again brought urgency to the forefront of climate action discussions. However, less discussed are the intersections of gender equality, climate justice, and education, as well as the disproportionate impact of the climate crisis on youth.
