media:description>Yes, presenting Music Composition Number 50!
It has definitely been a joy and journey writing music for the Psalm. As I’ve said in previous video description boxes, on Sundays, the Psalm is normally sung or chanted, but on Mondays to Saturdays it’s normally recited. In the latter case, I’ve written music for a lot of those psalms, although I’ve also written my own version for the Sunday psalms. From the very first psalm I wrote music to, back in March 2018, here is #50, written in November, 2023 :)
Psalm 105:2-3, 36-37, 42-43
for the 32nd Saturday in Ordinary Time, Year I
Parish of Our Lady of Good Counsel - San Leandro, California
Saturday, November 18, 2023
Closing Mass for the Advent Retreat with The Filipino Cursillo Community of the Diocese of Oakland
Response
Remember the marvels the Lord has done!
1.
Sing to him, sing his praise,
proclaim all his wondrous deeds.
Glory in his holy name;
rejoice, O hearts that seek the LORD!
2.
Then he struck every firstborn throughout their land,
the first fruits of all their manhood.
And he led them forth laden with silver and gold,
with not a weakling among their tribes.
3.
For he remembered his holy word
to his servant Abraham.
And he led forth his people with joy;
with shouts of joy, his chosen ones.
Thank you so much!
Thank you Lord!

1.
When she heard the voice of God
calling her to be
the instrument he needed
to bring our world the King of Kings,
she could not understand
the wisdom of God’s plan, but still she answered:
“Let it be. Let it be done unto me.”
2.
When he heard the voice of God
calling him to stand
and take the virgin as his wife
and teach her child to be a man,
he could not understand
the wisdom of God’s plan, but still he answered:
“Let it be. Let it be done unto me.”
Refrain
And we say: “Yes, Lord,
we’re ready to receive.
Yes, Lord, we’re ready to believe.
Let it be. Let it be done unto me.”
3.
When we hear the voice of God
calling out our names,
Lord, we pray you give us faith
to answer you in anything.
And we may not understand
the wisdom of your plan, but we will answer:
“Let it be. Let it be done unto me.”
Refrain
Amen!

Livino R., cantor
1.
Father, we thank thee, who hast planted
Thy holy name within our hearts.
Knowledge and faith and life immortal
Jesus, thy Son, to us imparts.
Thou, Lord, didst make all for thy pleasure,
Didst give man food for all his days,
Giving in Christ the Bread eternal;
Thine is the pow’r, be thine the praise.
2.
Watch o’er thy Church, O Lord, in mercy,
Save it from evil, guard it still;
Perfect it in thy love, unite it,
Cleansed and conformed unto thy will.
As grain, once scattered on the hillsides,
Was in this broken bread made one,
So from all lands thy Church be gather’d
Into thy kingdom by thy Son.
Thank you!

1.
O God of loveliness,
O Lord of heav’n above,
How worthy to possess
My heart’s devoted love.
So sweet thy countenance,
So gracious to behold,
That only glance were bliss untold.
2.
Thou art blest Three in One,
Yet undivided still;
Thou art that one alone
Whose love my heart can fill.
The heav’ns and earth below,
Were fashioned by thy word;
How great thou art, O holy Lord!
3.
O Loveliness supreme,
And Beauty infinite!
O everflowing stream
And ocean of delight!
O Life by hich I live,
My truest life above,
I give thee undivided love.
Busy busy, but thank you for you kind words, thoughts, and well wishes!

For the Feast of the Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary - May 31
Isaiah 12:2-3, 4bcd, 5-6
I wrote this a few days before May 31 for a Funeral that was on that same date, but it didn’t get recorded since I failed to recharge my camera and battery! Sheesh! =D
Recorded instead on Saturday, June 03, 2023 :)

Response
Among you is the great and Holy One of Israel.
1.
God indeed is my savior;
I am confident and unafraid.
My strength and my courage is the LORD,
and he has been my savior.
With joy you will draw water
at the fountain of salvation.
2.
Give thanks to the LORD, acclaim his name;
among the nations make known his deeds,
proclaim how exalted is his name.
3.
Sing praise to the LORD for his glorious achievement;
let this be known throughout all the earth.
Shout with exultation, O city of Zion,
for great in your midst
is the Holy One of Israel!
God bless you!

media:description>This is the Theme Song of the Diocese of Oakland English Women’s Cursillo #349 weekend, which was held September 21 to 24 at Saint Elizabeth Seton Parish in Pleasanton. I was unable to join in their Clausura Mass since I served at the Diocese of Oakland Filipino Men’s weekend, the same weekend in Aptos.
As we build community, Who Am I was done during Communion of the English Men’s weekend, which I was grateful to serve at; it was held the previous weekend, September 14 to 17. This was recorded at the Men's Clausura Mass on September 17 :)
Thanks so much, God bless you, and de colores!

1.
Who am I,
that the Lord of all the earth
would care to know my name,
would care to feel my hurt?
Who am I,
that the Bright and Morning Star
would choose to light the way
for my ever wan-d’ring heart?
Not because of who I am,
but because of what You’ve done.
Not because of what I’ve done,
but because of who You are.
Chorus:
I am a flower quickly fading,
here today and gone tomorrow.
A wave tossed in the ocean,
a vapor in the wind.
Still You hear me when I’m calling.
Lord, You catch me when I’m falling.
And You’ve told me who I am.
I am yours.
I am Yours.
2.
Who am I,
that the eyes that see my sin
would look on me with love
and watch me rise again?
Who am I,
that the voice that calmed the sea
would call out through the rain
and calm the storm in me?
Not because of who I am,
but because of what You’ve done.
Not because of what I’ve done,
but because of who You are.
Bridge:
Whom shall I fear
whom shall I fear.
I am Yours.
I am yours.
I am Yours.

1.
Godhead here in hiding
Whom I do adore,
Masked by these bare shadows,
Shape and nothing more,
See, Lord, at thy service
Low lies here a heart
Lost, all lost in wonder
At the God thou art.
2.
Seeing, touching, tasting
Are in thee deceived;
How says trusty hearing?
That shall be believed;
What God’s Son has told me,
Take for truth I do;
Truth himself speaks truly
Or there’s nothing true.
3.
On the cross thy Godhead
Made no sign to men;
Here thy very manhood
Steals from human ken:
Both are my confession,
Both are my belief,
And I pray the prayer
Of the dying thief.
4.
I am not like Thomas,
Wounds I cannot see,
But I plainly call thee
Lord and God as he:
This faith each day deeper
Be my holding of,
Daily make me harder
Hope and dearer love.
5.
O thou, our reminder
Of the Crucified,
Living Bread, the life of
Us for whom he died,
Lend this life to me, then;
Feed and feast my mind,
There be thou the sweetness
man was meant to find.
6.
Like what tender tales tell
Of the Pelican,
Bathe me, Jesus Lord, in
What thy bosom ran,
Blood that but one drop of
Has the pow’r to win
All the world forgiveness
Of its world of sin.
7.
Jesus, whom I look at
Shrouded here below,
I beseech thee, send me
What I thirst for so,
Some day to gaze on thee
Face to face in light,
And be blest forever
With thy glory’s sight.
Amen.
Thank you!

Refrain
Ubi caritas et amor,
Deus ibi est.
Ubi caritas et amor,
Deus ibi est.
1.
We gather together in the love of Christ;
let each one be glad in him and rejoice.
Our God is alive, the God of love is near;
so love one another with a heart sincere.
2.
We, the many, become one body
as the Spirit binds,
and we seek to be one in Christ
and one in heart and mind.
Let all quarrels, all division,
all our conflict cease;
then will Christ truly dwell among
us as our Lord of Peace.
Refrain
3.Instrumentally played…
Then, joined with the blessed,
filled with hope and grace,
dear Lord, in great glory
may we see your face.
Our joy none can measure,
joy that knows no end,
resounding from endless
age to age. Amen.

HARMONIZATION: Anonymous
1.
To Christ, the prince of peace,
And Son of God most high,
The father of the world to come,
Sing we with holy joy.
2.
Deep in his heart for us
The wound of love he bore,
That love where-with he still inflames
The hearts that him adore.
3.
O Jesus, victim blest,
What else but love divine
Could thee constrain to open thus
That sacred heart of thine?
4.
O fount of endless life,
O spring of water clear,
O flame celestial, cleansing all,
Who unto thee draw near!
5.
Praise to the Father be,

Praise, holy Paraclete, to thee,
While endless ages run.

Response
Remember the marvels the Lord has done!
1.
Sing to him, sing his praise,
proclaim all his wondrous deeds.
Glory in his holy name;
rejoice, O hearts that seek the LORD!
2.
Then he struck every firstborn throughout their land,
the first fruits of all their manhood.
And he led them forth laden with silver and gold,
with not a weakling among their tribes.
3.
For he remembered his holy word
to his servant Abraham.
And he led forth his people with joy;
with shouts of joy, his chosen ones.
Thank you so much!
Thank you Lord!

1.
When she heard the voice of God
calling her to be
the instrument he needed
to bring our world the King of Kings,
she could not understand
the wisdom of God’s plan, but still she answered:
“Let it be. Let it be done unto me.”
2.
When he heard the voice of God
calling him to stand
and take the virgin as his wife
and teach her child to be a man,
he could not understand
the wisdom of God’s plan, but still he answered:
“Let it be. Let it be done unto me.”
Refrain
And we say: “Yes, Lord,
we’re ready to receive.
Yes, Lord, we’re ready to believe.
Let it be. Let it be done unto me.”
3.
When we hear the voice of God
calling out our names,
Lord, we pray you give us faith
to answer you in anything.
And we may not understand
the wisdom of your plan, but we will answer:
“Let it be. Let it be done unto me.”

2.
Blessed are you in the temple of your holy glory,
praiseworthy and glorious above all forever.

Livino R., cantor
1.
Father, we thank thee, who hast planted
Thy holy name within our hearts.
Knowledge and faith and life immortal
Jesus, thy Son, to us imparts.
Thou, Lord, didst make all for thy pleasure,
Didst give man food for all his days,
Giving in Christ the Bread eternal;
Thine is the pow’r, be thine the praise.
2.
Watch o’er thy Church, O Lord, in mercy,
Save it from evil, guard it still;
Perfect it in thy love, unite it,
Cleansed and conformed unto thy will.
As grain, once scattered on the hillsides,
Was in this broken bread made one,
So from all lands thy Church be gather’d
Into thy kingdom by thy Son.
Thank you!

1.
O God of loveliness,
O Lord of heav’n above,
How worthy to possess
My heart’s devoted love.
So sweet thy countenance,
So gracious to behold,
That only glance were bliss untold.
2.
Thou art blest Three in One,
Yet undivided still;
Thou art that one alone
Whose love my heart can fill.
The heav’ns and earth below,
Were fashioned by thy word;
How great thou art, O holy Lord!
3.
O Loveliness supreme,
And Beauty infinite!
O everflowing stream
And ocean of delight!
O Life by hich I live,
My truest life above,
I give thee undivided love.
Busy busy, but thank you for you kind words, thoughts, and well wishes!

Among you is the great and Holy One of Israel.
1.
God indeed is my savior;
I am confident and unafraid.
My strength and my courage is the LORD,
and he has been my savior.
With joy you will draw water
at the fountain of salvation.
2.
Give thanks to the LORD, acclaim his name;
among the nations make known his deeds,
proclaim how exalted is his name.
3.
Sing praise to the LORD for his glorious achievement;
let this be known throughout all the earth.
Shout with exultation, O city of Zion,
for great in your midst
is the Holy One of Israel!
God bless you!

1.
Who am I,
that the Lord of all the earth
would care to know my name,
would care to feel my hurt?
Who am I,
that the Bright and Morning Star
would choose to light the way
for my ever wan-d’ring heart?
Not because of who I am,
but because of what You’ve done.
Not because of what I’ve done,
but because of who You are.
Chorus:
I am a flower quickly fading,
here today and gone tomorrow.
A wave tossed in the ocean,
a vapor in the wind.
Still You hear me when I’m calling.
Lord, You catch me when I’m falling.
And You’ve told me who I am.
I am yours.
I am Yours.
2.
Who am I,
that the eyes that see my sin
would look on me with love
and watch me rise again?
Who am I,
that the voice that calmed the sea
would call out through the rain
and calm the storm in me?
Not because of who I am,
but because of what You’ve done.
Not because of what I’ve done,
but because of who You are.
Bridge:
Whom shall I fear
whom shall I fear.
I am Yours.
I am yours.
I am Yours.

1.
Godhead here in hiding
Whom I do adore,
Masked by these bare shadows,
Shape and nothing more,
See, Lord, at thy service
Low lies here a heart
Lost, all lost in wonder
At the God thou art.
2.
Seeing, touching, tasting
Are in thee deceived;
How says trusty hearing?
That shall be believed;
What God’s Son has told me,
Take for truth I do;
Truth himself speaks truly
Or there’s nothing true.
3.
On the cross thy Godhead
Made no sign to men;
Here thy very manhood
Steals from human ken:
Both are my confession,
Both are my belief,
And I pray the prayer
Of the dying thief.
4.
I am not like Thomas,
Wounds I cannot see,
But I plainly call thee
Lord and God as he:
This faith each day deeper
Be my holding of,
Daily make me harder
Hope and dearer love.
5.
O thou, our reminder
Of the Crucified,
Living Bread, the life of
Us for whom he died,
Lend this life to me, then;
Feed and feast my mind,
There be thou the sweetness
man was meant to find.
6.
Like what tender tales tell
Of the Pelican,
Bathe me, Jesus Lord, in
What thy bosom ran,
Blood that but one drop of
Has the pow’r to win
All the world forgiveness
Of its world of sin.
7.
Jesus, whom I look at
Shrouded here below,
I beseech thee, send me
What I thirst for so,
Some day to gaze on thee
Face to face in light,
And be blest forever
With thy glory’s sight.
Amen.
Thank you!

Ubi caritas et amor,

1.
We gather together in the love of Christ;
let each one be glad in him and rejoice.
Our God is alive, the God of love is near;

and we seek to be one in Christ
and one in heart and mind.
Let all quarrels, all division,
all our conflict cease;
then will Christ truly dwell among
us as our Lord of Peace.

1.
My Shepherd will supply my need:
The Lord God Is His name:
In pastures green He makes me feed,
Beside the living stream.
He brings my wan-d’ring spirit back,
When I forsake His ways;
And leads me, for His mercy’s sake,
In paths of truth and grace.
2.
When I walk through the shades of death
Thy presence is my stay;
One word of Thy supporting breath
Drives all my fears away.
Thy hand, in sight of all my foes,
Doth still my table spread;
My cup with blessings overflows,
Your oil anoints my head.

Fly like a bird to the Lord, my soul.
I want to soar like an eagle.
Though I may journey far away from home,
I know I’ll never be alone.

Lord, let your mercy be on us,
as we place our trust in you.
1.
Exult, you just, in the LORD;
praise from the upright is fitting.
Give thanks to the LORD on the harp;
with the ten-stringed lyre chant his praises.
2.
Upright is the word of the LORD;
and all his works are trustworthy.
He loves justice and right;
of the kindness of the LORD the earth is full.
3.

Lord Jesus, think on me,
With care and woe oppressed;
Let me thy loving servant be,
And taste thy promised rest.
3.
Lord Jesus, think on me,
Amid the battle’s strife;
In all my pain and misery
Be thou my health and life.
Thank you!

The reason this video faded out as I was still playing: the Procession took a little longer than I anticipated, and I wasn't ready to play and sing Verse 3, so I ended with instrumental music. That's also why I played and sang the Refrain twice after Verse 2... :)
Refrain
Save us, O Lord, carry us back.
Rouse your power and come.
Rescue your people; show us your face.
Bring us back.
1.
O Shepherd of Israel, hear us.
Return and we shall be saved.
Arise, O Lord; hear our cries, O Lord:
bring us back!
2.
How long will you hide from your people?
We long to see your face.
Give ear to us. Draw near to us.
Lord God of hosts!
Thank you!

The Resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ
1a.
To the Paschal Victim
Give thankful praise!
Christ, ever sinless,
his sheep now he saves.
1b.
Death and life contended
In dreadful strife;
Death did not hold him,
immortal his life.
Refrain
Alleluia, his triumph we sing!
Christ is arisen, the Victor, the King!
2a.
Mary, speak, confessing
What you have seen.
“Christ’s tomb lies empty
where once he had been;
2b.
Angels bright, confirming;
Shroud laid aside;
He goes to Galilee,
he lives though he died.”
Refrain
3a.
Christians, sing his glory
With ev-’ry breath;
Sing of his kingdom,
victorious o’er death!
3b.
Jesus, grant us mercy:
New life from heav’n!
Christ ever reigns!
Alleluia! Amen!
Happy Easter! He is Risen!
Thank you!

Refrain
Bread of life, hope of the world,
Jesus Christ, our brother:
feed us now, give us life,
lead us to one another.
1.
As we proclaim your death,
as we recall your life,
we remember your promise
to return again.
2.
The bread we break and share
was scattered once as grain:
just as now it is gathered,
make your people one.
3.
We eat this living bread,
we drink this saving cup;
sign of hope in our broken world,
source of lasting love.
4.
Hold us in unity,
in love for all to see;
that the world may believe in you,
God of all who live.
5.
You are the bread of peace,
you are the wine of joy,
broken now for your people,
poured in endless love.
Thank you!

1.
Jesus Lover of my soul,
Let me to thy bosom fly,
While the nearer waters roll,
While the tempest still is high:
Hide me, O my Saviour, hide,
Till the storm of life be past;
Safe into the haven guide,
O receive my soul at last.
God bless you abundantly!

Refrain
Save your people, O Lord.
Show us the way to come home.
We have been wandering far from your love.
Save your people, O Lord.
1.
One thing I ask, O Lord, this I seek:
to dwell forever in your house,
that I may gaze on your loveliness
all the days of my life.
2.
For you will hide me in the shelter of your wings
and from the arrows of my foes.
You set me high on a mountain top,
saved me from my distress.
Thank you kindly!

The Lord is my shepherd; there is nothing I shall want.
1.
The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.
in verdant pastures he gives me repose;
Beside restful waters he leads me;
he refreshes my soul.
He guides me in right paths
for his name sake.
2.
Even though I walk in the dark valley
I fear no evil; for you are at my side
With your rod and your staff
that give me courage.
3.
You spread the table before me
in the sight of my foes;
You anoint my head with oil;
my cup overflows.
4.
Only goodness and kindness follow me
all the days of my life;
And I shall dwell in the house of the Lord
for years to come.

1.
O God beyond all praising,
We worship you today
And sing the love amazing
That songs cannot repay;
For we can only wonder
At ev-’ry gift you send,
At blessings without number
And mercies without end:
We lift our hearts before you
And wait upon your word,
We honor and adore, you,
Our great and mighty Lord.
2.
The flow’r of earthly splendor
In time must surely die,
Its fragile bloom surrender
To you, the Lord most high;
But hidden from all nature
Th’e-eternal seed is sown,
Though small in mortal stature,
To heav-en’s garden grown:
For Christ the man from heaven
From death has set us free,
And we through him are given
The final victory.
Thank you!

If today you hear his voice, harden not your hearts.
1.
Come, let us sing joyfully to the LORD;
let us acclaim the Rock of our salvation.
Let us come into his presence with thanksgiving;
let us joyfully sing psalms to him.
2.
Come, let us bow down in worship;
let us kneel before the LORD who made us.
For he is our God,
and we are the people he shepherds, the flock he guides.
3.
Oh, that today you would hear his voice:
“Harden not your hearts as at Meribah,
as in the day of Massah in the desert,
Where your fathers tempted me;
they test me though they had seen my works.”

Lord, let your mercy be on us,
as we place our trust in you.
1.
Upright is the word of the LORD;
and all his works are trustworthy.
He loves justice and right;
of the kindness of the LORD the earth is full.
2.
See, the eyes of the LORD are upon those who fear him,
upon those who hope for his kindness,
to deliver them from death,
and preserve them in time of famine.
3.
Our soul waits for the LORD,
who is our help and our shield.
May your kindness, O LORD, be upon us
who have put our hope in you.
