But this trip is special, we're getting married in a few days time and have brought our families here to show them Bali! We start off with a trip into Canggu for breakfast before heading to Seminyak to our favourite place for a massage - Spring Spa. Lunch was a fancy one at Mamasan - expensive, but delicious and like Stace said in the vlog, it's definitely a gateway asian meal haha. We're the type to go to a local warung, but we thought it would be a good idea to ease our families into that and also just show them how great the food and service is/can be in Bali. A trip to Uluwatu is a must, and after some exploring we took the fam to Sundays beach club for some legit VIP service. Again, pricey, but the experience is awesome. The beaches are next level, the them parks are awesome and obviously Surfers Paradise is a real drawcard as well... but this time we were tasked with something different entirely. Just how special is the Gold Coast beyond Surfers Paradise? In short it's legitimately bloody awesome. Like we haven't stopped looking at moving there since we left and we miss it already. The Gold Coast is a dream - the weather, the people, the food, the coffee, the things to do, the lifestyle, it's goals. First stop was Kool Bike Hire to cruise the coast and check out the beaches. - Then on to Paddock Bakery which is 25 minutes down the road in Burleigh Heads, famous for their wood-fired bagels, creÌ€me brulee donuts and dippy eggs! The start of an incredible time with food and cafe experiences on this trip! - The Dorsett Gold Coast was our home during the stay and it was modern, close to the beach, casino and shopping and with an epic pool as well. - Tarte Beach House in Currumbin was delicious and the best coffee we had on the whole trip! - Jellurgal Walkabout was so interesting, the more we travel the more we love feeling connected to our experiences and understanding the aboriginal connection is key. - Burleigh Pavilion is a vibe for sure, great cocktails, seafood and views over the beach. Apparently some pretty cool gigs here too. - If you've ever wanted to learn how to ski, wakeboard or kneeboard then GC Wake Park is the spot. Well setup so that even if you're not getting involved on the water it's still a good place to hang, listen to the music and grab some food/drink - The Hinterland is a must! Cedar Creek Lodges caters to all sorts of different budgets as well, even down to camping if that's your thing, super family friendly with the activities on site but lots of space for adults to hang too - Tamborine Rainforest Skywalk is another must and honestly a good time to slow down a bit, breath and take in the rainforest surroundings - St Bernardâ€™s Hotel to finish was a treat! We love it here and have filmed looooads of travel vlogs over the years of living here, traveling and doing the digital nomad thing. But this trip is special, we're getting married in a few days time and have brought our families here to show them Bali! We start off with a trip into Canggu for breakfast before heading to Seminyak to our favourite place for a massage - Spring Spa. Lunch was a fancy one at Mamasan - expensive, but delicious and like Stace said in the vlog, it's definitely a gateway asian meal haha. We're the type to go to a local warung, but we thought it would be a good idea to ease our families into that and also just show them how great the food and service is/can be in Bali. A trip to Uluwatu is a must, and after some exploring we took the fam to Sundays beach club for some legit VIP service. Again, pricey, but the experience is awesome. A quick stop for some shopping on another day before heading up towards our wedding venue, via Tannah Lot temple. Enjoy this random, raw and family style vlog! The beaches are next level, the them parks are awesome and obviously Surfers Paradise is a real drawcard as well... but this time we were tasked with something different entirely. Just how special is the Gold Coast beyond Surfers Paradise? In short it's legitimately bloody awesome. Like we haven't stopped looking at moving there since we left and we miss it already. The Gold Coast is a dream - the weather, the people, the food, the coffee, the things to do, the lifestyle, it's goals. But if you're heading there for a weekend or a holiday we've got you covered, and definitely check out how cheap these airfares are direct to the Gold Coast airport here: https://bit.ly/3Sxejwi - Within minutes of landing we were already at the beach in Coolangatta - it's all about the beach, surfing, amazing restaurants, and a slower pace with a down-to-earth vibe. First stop was Kool Bike Hire to cruise the coast and check out the beaches. - Then on to Paddock Bakery which is 25 minutes down the road in Burleigh Heads, famous for their wood-fired bagels, crème brulee donuts and dippy eggs! The start of an incredible time with food and cafe experiences on this trip! - The Dorsett Gold Coast was our home during the stay and it was modern, close to the beach, casino and shopping and with an epic pool as well. - Tarte Beach House in Currumbin was delicious and the best coffee we had on the whole trip! - Jellurgal Walkabout was so interesting, the more we travel the more we love feeling connected to our experiences and understanding the aboriginal connection is key. - Burleigh Pavilion is a vibe for sure, great cocktails, seafood and views over the beach. Apparently some pretty cool gigs here too. - If you've ever wanted to learn how to ski, wakeboard or kneeboard then GC Wake Park is the spot. Well setup so that even if you're not getting involved on the water it's still a good place to hang, listen to the music and grab some food/drink - The Hinterland is a must! Cedar Creek Lodges caters to all sorts of different budgets as well, even down to camping if that's your thing, super family friendly with the activities on site but lots of space for adults to hang too - Tamborine Rainforest Skywalk is another must and honestly a good time to slow down a bit, breath and take in the rainforest surroundings - St Bernard’s Hotel to finish was a treat! Insane views, friendly staff, great food and DOGS. So is the Gold Coast a winner even outside of Surfers? We're in Cusco and hiking our way towards Machu Picchu, the gem of Peru travel. We're doing a portion of the Lares Trek, which is typically done over 3-5 days, wrapping up with the final day at Machu Picchu. The Lares Trek passes through Andean communities which have remained unchanged over centuries, you don’t just get to hike part of the Inca Trail system, you actually get to meet the descendants of those people who built the Inca Trails and Machu Picchu. Rivers, lakes, waterfalls, snowwy peaks, this hike had it all! The campsite we slept at was built by G Adventures, as part of staying there they pay a fee per person to support the locals and help the community thrive. We're doing a portion of the Lares Trek, which is typically done over 3-5 days, wrapping up with the final day at Machu Picchu. The Lares Trek passes through Andean communities which have remained unchanged over centuries, you don’t just get to hike part of the Inca Trail system, you actually get to meet the descendants of those people who built the Inca Trails and Machu Picchu. Rivers, lakes, waterfalls, snowwy peaks, this hike had it all! The campsite we slept at was built by G Adventures, as part of staying there they pay a fee per person to support the locals and help the community thrive. So naturally, on our first day in the county on our G Adventures tour we all booked a tour to Sayta Ranch in Salta to ride horse, drink malbec wine and taste a classic local barbecue. No word of a lie, even though we were tipsy/drunk in the vlog, we still dream of this food today. I LOVE steak any day of the week, but the meat we experienced was out of this world, every single cut. As part of the tour we stopped at Sepilok Orangutan Rehab Centre to see how they’re being prepared to go back into the wild, to increase their numbers and keep them thriving. Then it was time to head onto the boat and make our way 2.5 hours up into the rain forest to Sukau rainforest lodge, an award winner and the only National Geographic Unique Lodges of the World in Malaysia! In this vlog we're showing Amari Koh Samui on Chaweng Beach, it's an ahhhhmazing luxury resort right on the beach front with two different swimming pools. We fortunately skipped what looks like a Thailand tourist trap and despite the organised chaos of it all, this was still an awesome day in Khao Sok National Park ... We think we got a bit lucky today - given how last minute we booked our Khao Sok National Park tours we weren't able to book one of the floating hotels / overwater bungalow type places on Cheow Lan Lake. In this vlog we take a half day private Cheow Lan Lake tour and to keep things positive first, WOW. Khao Sok National Park as a whole is stunning, it's wild, unkept, raw and bloody enormous. There's so much to see and explore, but a tour seems pretty vital to see the best of the best. Taking the good with the bad though means putting your trust in someone sorting all that for you. Our tour was actually heaps of fun, despite a serious lack of communication and information on what, where and when we were doing anything! The tourist trap really was with the on-lake accommodation though (at least the one we went to) - the prices are silly, the food is crap, the staff were rude and lots of people just looked bored and trapped there. BUT - we're always open to hearing another opinion. Have you stayed on the lake? Was it good? Did we just go to a sh*t one? ··· ··· ··· ··· This is Khao Sok National Park in Thailand, one of the oldest rainforests in the world and often overlooked for Thailand travels! This is Khao Sok National Park, one of the oldest evergreen rainforests in the world, even older than the Amazon Rainforest, covering close to 740 square kilometres. The national park is home to caves, waterfalls, dense rainforest and animals like elephants, leopards and tigers - though you'd be lucky (or unlucky?) to come across them all. What we did do, is book two of the best things to do in Khao Sok National Park - the elephant sanctuary tour and bamboo raft tour! We booked our elephant tour through Our Jungle Camp, it was pricey, but turned out to be a fun day. From what we can tell, the elephants were well looked after but we were pretty hesitant to be honest, worried that they weren't going to be cared for or we'd see some kind of abuse - but it was an amazing day and they looked free range AF! The bamboo cruise is one of the other best known things to do, but it's honestly pretty random! We'd still recommend it, but not sure it's quite worth as much money as we paid.
