But...did you know that Race Tech has an amazing engine machining program? Located at the company headquarters in Corona, California, the technology, machinery, and equipment inside the Race Tech Engine Department is quite impressive, to say the least. We stopped by for a tour of the facility a few weeks ago and included it in the Life on Two Wheels Vlog, but decided that this deserved a post on its own. Based on that philosophy, I gave it a 200% effort last week as I couldn't stay off the ground. I guess I'm finally starting to feel normal again after breaking my hand last winter, and that's a good thing with 2025 new bike season already upon us. Last week, we tested the 2025 KTM 350 and 450 SX-F bikes and they were super impressive. I was still super rusty and tentative when we got the 2024 Factory Edition bikes, so I don't think I was able to really enjoy what the new chassis had to offer. On another note, I've been pedaling a new Specialized Turbo Kenevo SL2, which is the lightweight (40 lbs. vs. 50+ for a full-powered e bike) pedal assist bike in Specialized's catalog. It is amazing! With more torque than the original, I've found that you can utilize the eco setting and get a great workout, whereas the original KSL was harder to pedal than an analog bike in eco. With no frame, geometry, or suspension changes, the KSL2 is an awesome all-around mountain bike!/media:description> media:community> media:starRating count="94" average="5.00" min="1" max="5"/> media:statistics views="3592"/> /media:community> /media:group> /entry> entry> id>yt:video:0DUYnHsX7zA/id> yt:videoId>0DUYnHsX7zA/yt:videoId> yt:channelId>UCmnJOmREwf8XlLBumqUd_pw/yt:channelId> title>The Tools that will make a Dirt Bike Look NEW!/title> link rel="alternate" href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0DUYnHsX7zA"/> author> name>Swapmoto Live/name> uri>https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCmnJOmREwf8XlLBumqUd_pw/uri> /author> published>2024-06-20T17:16:19+00:00/published> updated>2024-06-23T20:42:50+00:00/updated> media:group> media:title>The Tools that will make a Dirt Bike Look NEW!/media:title> media:content url="https://www.youtube.com/v/0DUYnHsX7zA?version=3" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="640" height="390"/> media:thumbnail url="https://i1.ytimg.com/vi/0DUYnHsX7zA/hqdefault.jpg" width="480" height="360"/> media:description>Presented by Moose Racing Welcome to the latest episode of In The SML Garage, presented by Moose Racing. This weekend’s race will wrap up the opening stretch of the summer series and is the first of many motos that’ll happen on the East Coast over the next few months. The regional shift has had a massive impact on the rider turnout, and today’s entry lists sees 94 names in the 450 Class and 82 in the 250 Class, for a grand total of 176 competitors. We’re back on a normal schedule this weekend, with 250 Moto One slated to start around1PM, a half-hour half-time in the midafternoon, and the final laps of 450 Moto Two finishing by 5. Here’s how riders are ranked in points going into the day. Haiden Deegan has extended his advantage in the 250 Class and now has 144 points, Chance Hymas and Tom Vialle are tied for second with 121, Levi Kitchen is fourth with 119, Jo Shimoda fifth with 99, Jalek Swoll sixth with 93, Pierce Brown seventh with 84, Julien Beaumer eighth with 73, Ty Masterpool ninth with 69, and Joey Savatgy tenth with 60. Hunter Lawrence has the red plate for the first time in his 450 Class career with 129 points, Chase Sexton is second with 123, Jett Lawrence third with 113, Justin Cooper fourth with 109, Aaron Plessinger fifth with 100, Jason Anderson sixth with 97, Justin Barcia eight with 95, Dylan Ferrandis eighth with 89, Malcolm Stewart ninth with 87, and Fredrik Noren tenth with 68. Round four of the reformed WMX series was featured as part of Friday’s program at High Point. Kyleigh Stallings and Jordan Jarvis put on a show in both motos, and 1-1 results by Stallings helped her chip away at the points lead that Sophia Phelps has on the competition. The WMX riders will line up again at the Ironman National in late August. We stopped by for a tour of the facility a few weeks ago and included it in the Life on Two Wheels Vlog, but decided that this deserved a post on its own. Enjoy!

5:: Crashing Season Has Arrived | LOTW Vlog

01.01.1970 · 01:00:00 ··· 21.06.2024 · 19:09:46 ··· ···
··· ··· ··· ··· When I was a kid, my dad told me that if I wasn't crashing once in a while I wasn't trying hard enough. With no frame, geometry, or suspension changes, the KSL2 is an awesome all-around mountain bike!

This weekend’s race will wrap up the opening stretch of the summer series and is the first of many motos that’ll happen on the East Coast over the next few months. ··· ··· ··· ··· It was miserable while we were there, but now that we're home warm and dry at home; looking back at the muddy San Francisco Supercross was actually quite an amazing experience. After all...we got to see Chase Sexton's first win on a KTM, what could easily be the worst finish of Jett Lawrence's season, Shane McElrath's best 450 finish thus far, and 44 grown men playing in the mud like a bunch of kids! The abbreviated schedule left us lots of down time, so we captured some of what we did for the LOTW Vlog! Enjoy.

··· ··· ··· ··· The San Francisco Supercross is set to be a muddy mess, but thankfully the pits are protected from the inclement weather by the pier sheds that the teams are parked inside, right on the San Francisco bay. The mood is high in spite of the dark skies, though, and the racing tonight should definitely be interesting. Check out some of the scenes in the pits and a couple minutes of action from the single afternoon qualifying session.

51:: Supercross Is Back In San Francisco & It's Gonna Be Wet | Pre-Race News Break

01.01.1970 · 01:00:00 ··· 13.01.2024 · 19:09:55 ··· ···
··· ··· ··· ··· After a sunny start to the season in Southern California, the Monster Energy Supercross Championship has headed north for what’s set to be a very wet second round, the 2024 San Francisco Supercross. Racing returns to Oracle Park after 14 years on the east side of the Bay, and everyone is excited to be in the city, even with the high odds of a mudder. Supercross has only raced in this venue eight times before today, and no visit was as early as round two. Yamaha’s three 450 Class Main Events wins are the most of the OEMs, including two with Chad Reed in 2004 and 2008 and one with James Stewart in 2009, but a blue bike has never been on the top step of the podium here in the 250 Class. 105 riders are on the entry list, with 58 signed up for the 450 Class and 47 in the 250 West Coast Region. This is the same dirt that was used for the Oakland rounds in years past, and it was trucked across the Bay Bridge and dumped on the baseball diamond for a Monster Jam event that happened last Saturday. Weather has been a factor all week. The Dirt Wurx crew booked it here straight after A1 and started to re-shape the soil on Sunday, then put it two long days to get the bulk of the course built and covered before a rain front came through midweek. Although the rest of the week was dry but cloudy, the dark dirt was still wet and heavy in spots, and the decision was made to cancel press day. That isn’t the only adjustment that’s been made to the schedule, though, as the AMA pushed track walk back to noon and scrapped Saturday’s Free Practice. Riders will still get two Timed Qualifying sessions to learn the track and set their place in the field, and current forecasts show a break in the weather happening around this time. Unfortunately, a second round of showers is slated to come through around 5PM, just as the night show begins, with the heaviest happening from 7PM to 9PM, around the time bikes and riders will be on track for the Main Events. The total rainfall amount for Saturday is expected to be just over half an inch.

52:: Ken Roczen: Bar Bendin', Utah Chillin', and Having Fun

01.01.1970 · 01:00:00 ··· 13.01.2024 · 15:07:33 ··· ···
··· ··· ··· ··· Ken Roczen didn't have the series kickoff he would have wished for at Angels Stadium, but the popular German made the most of a bad situation and left Anaheim with 10th-place points and - more importantly - his health intact. We chatted with Kenny about his A1 comeback, as well as the week he spent in St. George, Utah, immediately afterward.

53:: San Francisco SX is Gonna Be a MUDDER!

01.01.1970 · 01:00:00 ··· 13.01.2024 · 06:54:28 ··· ···
··· ··· ··· ··· The SML team is in San Francisco for round two of the Monster Energy Supercross Series, held inside Oracle Park, home of the MLS's Giants. Sadly, the weather has not been - and is not scheduled to be - kind to Saturday's event as rainfall earlier in the week has already left the track a soggy mess. Heavy rain is predicted to fall at a couple of different times on race day, with a significant chance of precipitation throughout the daylight hours. The normal afternoon free practice sessions have been canceled, and the schedule pushed back two hours to 1:00 p.m.  While the thought of a mud race strikes fear into the hearts of some but excitement into others, one thing is for sure: the better prepared for the wet conditions teams and riders are, the better their chances of success are. We worked the indoor pit area outside Oracle Stadium today to find out just how everyone is preparing for a sloppy day in the Bay Area. "It's all in your attitude," Ken Roczen told us. "I can't wait! It's the same for all of us, so you might as well have a good time." What other subjects and topics would you like to see in Inside SML? Comment below and let us know!

··· ··· ··· ··· Honda HRC's Jo Shimoda had a slow start in the Anaheim One main event and worked up to fourth, but that was hardly what the rider from Japan is capable of on his new CRF250R. We logged this footage several weeks ago but were asked to hold it because Shimoda was actually trying out the new Fox Speed Suit for the first time and it was under embargo until the season opener.

55:: RAW Supercross with Maximus Vohland

01.01.1970 · 01:00:00 ··· 11.01.2024 · 23:06:47 ··· ···
··· ··· ··· ··· We caught up with Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki's Maximus Vohland at the K4 Kawasaki Supercross track a couple of weeks ago and he was looking smooth and confident as he worked on sprints with his training partner Jason Anderson. Maximus certainly showed some great speed last weekend at Anaheim One, but the second-generation rider was a little too cautious as he passed the red-cross flags and was thus knocked from a podium position back to fifth. We expect to see Vohland on the podium soon enough...is this weekend's San Francisco mud race gonna be the day?

01.01.1970 · 01:00:00 ··· 29.07.2023 · 18:18:43 ··· ···
··· ··· ··· ··· Colt Nichols has always been one of the easiest pro racers for us to work with, and when he came in for the SML Show a couple of weeks ago, he mentioned that he might try to put together a private effort for the Washougal MX National in order to stack some points for the SMX Playoffs this Fall. Having raced the Monster Energy Supercross Series for Honda HRC, Nichols headed to the UK to start the World Supercross Championship with Rick Ware Racing aboard his Kawasaki KX450. Contracted to race WSX only with RWR, any effort he put into the MX Nationals would be on his own time. That said, knowing how amazing the 2023 Kawasaki KX450SR test bike we had in our shop was, we offered our test bike up to our friend Colt, should nothing else materialize. Lo and behold, Colt called us up a few days before the race and asked if the offer was still on the table. Long story short, he pulled swap's 48s off and after a couple days of testing, headed to the Pacific Northwest to race his first-ever 450 MX National. Foggy Llama films was there to document the day with Colt and the Kawasaki KX450SR. Enjoy!

Following up with our first installment in 2019m we got together this evening for our (now) traditional Live Tequila Podcast. Both McGrath and swap went live on Instagram to field some questions from viewers, and it was a good time - albeit somewhat more controlled and in control than the second installment (which was never aired and archived, by the way). Jeremy and Donn talk about everything from Jett Lawerence's dominance, to two-strokes making a comeback, to MC dislocating his hip on his KTM, to nearly dying in an off-road truck, and more! Enjoy!

··· ··· ··· ··· The Pro Motocross Championship wraps up its July run with the 2023 Washougal Motocross, the eighth round of the outdoor nationals and the twenty-fifth race in the SuperMotocross extended series. The Washington State track has been a staple of the summer since 1980, and this weekend will be the forty-second time the gate has dropped here for the 250 Class and the thirty-third time for the 450 Class. Washougal is unlike the three previous stops in Pro Motocross, and its technical terrain of hard-packed clay with a loose top layer will reward riders that are precise with the throttle, can carry momentum, and are willing to go for passes in the tight tree-lined sections.
