01.01.1970 · 01:00:00 ··· 19.05.2024 · 12:09:41 ··· ···
··· ··· ··· ··· The Medicine Show is on the road and heading to Dunfermline (where I was born) for a Home town gig with rising roots star Kirsten Adamson (daughter of Stuart Adamson, Stuart was 2 years behind me in school ) Kirsten Adamson and The Tanagers. Award-winning singer/songwriter Kirsten Adamson (daughter of rock legend Stuart Adamson of Big Country & Skids) a rising star in the UK Americana circuit described as having the same heart-stopping purity as Sandy Denny, by way of Emmylou Harris and Kate Bush. Much of her astonishing talent can not only be attributed to her genes but also to soaking up the atmosphere in Nashville with her dad, where she sang on Big Country’s Driving To Damascus album, Kirsten has been steadily developing her own voice and song writing, with indie folkers Aberfeldy, country rockers The Gillyflowers and Americana duo The Marriage. iMTV is delighted to showcase her talent with her full band The Tanagers at Belladrum Festival Moose Hollow in July in what we now call The See Sick Steve spot 15:00 - 15:45 Saturday afternoon July 27 where Steve made his UK festival début with us in in 2006 I predict a similar trajectory for Kirsten, this will be special to see her with a home town audience https://www.facebook.com/kirstenadamsonmusic Subscribe to iMTV at www.youtube.com/robellen - hit the notifications bell to be notified when we go live www.facebook.com/kirstenadamsonmusic Support the Moose at www.patreon.com/moosemobile Speed donations www.paypal.com/paypalme/sihcfest Help us help the music we love! 16:: Clive Carroll live on iMTV from The Moose Mobile with Rob Ellen

01.01.1970 · 01:00:00 ··· 04.02.2024 · 01:37:19 ··· ···
··· ··· ··· ··· Clive is a stringed instrument phenomenon, he already was before I meet him at the age of 18, on that occasion he was engaged by the 1rst Ullapool Guitar Festival along with Adrian Byron Burns the late John Renbourn, and Isaac Guillory to perform a John Renbourn piece in celebration of that inaugural event. Since then he has worked with more guitar greats such as John Williams, Tommy Emmanuel, Xuefei Yang, Ralph Towner, D'Gary, and Vishwa Mohan Bhatt. He has toured across Europe, Australia, the Middle East, and North America. To date, Clive has released four solo albums; “Sixth Sense”, “The Red Guitar”, “Life in Colour” and "The Furthest Tree". Clive has also written, performed, and conducted music for television and film, most notably collaborating with John Renbourn again to compose the music for the film “Driving Lessons”, which features Julie Walters and Rupert Grint of Harry Potter fame. So who best top pay tribute to his friend John at Celtic Connections than Clive Carroll, I'll talk about all of that and of his quest to walk the entire UK coastline (true story) and of other friends and family no doubt. Cant wait. www.clivecarroll.co.uk www.facebook.com/clivecarroll www.medicinemusic.me

··· ··· ··· ··· The Countess of Fife - Insurgent alt country outfit led by legendary Rezillos’ frontwoman Fay Fife. Think of the Cramps meeting Johnny Cash. Fae and the legend that is Brian McFie are coming for a couple of tunes and some chat Urban grit combined with a touch of punk and soulful, tender melodies, taking the genre to the warped frontiers of a previously unheard terrain. Fay’s authentic, original lyrics, mellifluous vocals and out-there stage presence combine in an unholy alchemy of alt country, punk and a touch of gospel. Songs about life, sadness and badness, as well as hope and spirituality. https://www.facebook.com/countessoffife https://www.medicinemusic.me

56:: Talking to Liza Mulholland about In The Wake of The Metagama

01.01.1970 · 01:00:00 ··· 20.04.2023 · 07:39:13 ··· ···
··· ··· ··· ··· Right then! WARNING!! the first 5 minutes are corrupted a bit and are difficult to make out, I suggest you switch on subtitles I'm broadcasting this again even though the first 5 mins is garbled please stick with it as it does settle down. My "Hame in The Heelands" Stravaig has taken an amazing twist of fate. I’ve been invited to go cover "In the Wake of Metagama" for iMTV - international Moose TV in full on a wee Hebridien Island hop this weekend and next. And as providence would have it, i picked up a publicity gig for £200 that pays the ferry's, (any help with the diesle would be apprecaited as ever) this is i feel providence and intuative travel at its very very best. On a personal level i have to go do this don't I? It has all the elements of all my passions, Scotland, history, travel and music, it's been 15 years since I visited Harris and Uist and ive never been to Barra (bucket List # 198 ) I'll be posting photos with my dispatches (you know that) in this weather those alone will be breathtaking (can you tell I'm excited) I love Willie Campbell as i do Liza and my old pal Charlie MacKerron is on the tour. This tour in itself is a piece of history and its story started 100 years to the day, that the show opens in Stornoway. It all started with the departed on The Metagamma heralding the mass migration of young gaels for the new world and new lifes, taking the music, language and culture with them, leaving a hole in the community that still echo’s down to today. As you will hear from Liza when these 1200 young people left to look for a better life, Liza Mulhollands grand parents were among them, though they did not know eachother then, they married in Detroit and Liza's mum was born there. The family did returned to The Highlands and Liza was born a Scot, many many more decendents were born Canadian and American, some of those are returning now to the islands for the first time for this commemoration. I hope to seek those folks out as well as other islanders who's family storys are linked with this event. Running this again as its an important story told so well by her and I can only imagine and look forward to just how well, in story music and song, by this ensemble. This migration, though never stated as such was in this pilgrims opinion, the last Highland Cearance! Though not near as brutal, it was sold to the fragile island communities on a very nefarious premise and it was in effect as damaging as any of the earlier forced evictions, these communities still reeling from those only 50 or so years earlier (within living memory of some) and of course reeling in their time from the great losses of the great war and the tragedy of HMY Iolaire which sank only 4 years earlier with loss of 201 retuning WW1 surving soldies and sailors, in sight of where The Metagama left from so soon after My adventure starts there on that spot with the embarking morning Ferry from ullapool on Friday, this Stavaige will take me to the places all these events effected, I also hope to follow up this story in Canada in August when i rejoin the Merican Moose and the “Looking for Canada Sravaig” The movement of people is forever traced out in the songlines and this show is sympathetic to this eternal fact, featuring as it does songs writen by those that said farewell on the day and by the Emirates who enevitabley longed for their Island hame from the very alien great plains of Canada What a story what an adventure! (stay tuned) #thankfull #moosemobile https://www.facebook.com/events/607535581052540/

60:: tRYING FOR lIZA mULHOLAND AGAIN

01.01.1970 · 01:00:00 ··· 17.04.2023 · 22:01:09 ··· ···
··· ··· ··· ··· Musician Liza Mulholland is in rehearsal for ‘In the Wake of Metagama’ at Eden Court Theatre Inverness, she'll be joining me in the Moose to tell the story of the Highland & Island mass emigration to Canada 100 years ago onboard the Metagama, Marloch and Canada. Liza's family come from Colonsay and were caught up in the Canadian government scheme, which persuaded the emigration of hundreds of islanders from Lewis and Uist in 1923, looking for a better life and causing a a demographic seismic event that the Islands have yet not recovered from, coming hard on the heels of the tremendous loss of life in the First World War as it did. Their journey is being brought back to life a century later in song, music, dramatic snippets and narration. Much of the recreation is based on factual stories of Liza's maternal grandparents left on the Metagama and settled in Detroit and Chicago and she ilustrates the story in music. Inspiration for ‘In the Wake of Metagama’ came when Liza and writer Donald S Murray were pounding the streets of Toronto, Detroit and Chicago in the footsteps of the 1920s emigrants. Taking the opportunity to speak at various literary events in Toronto, Detroit and Chicago. https://eden-court.co.uk/.../in-the-wake-of-metagama-an... www.medicineshowontheroad.me
