16:: 2023 Volvo XC90 | Review & Road Test

01.01.1970 · 01:00:00 ··· 31.07.2023 · 14:00:24 ··· ···
··· ··· ··· ··· For the latest Volvo XC90 Recharge pricing and information: https://www.kbb.com/volvo/xc90-recharge/ If you’re not quite ready to jump full on into the EV market then a plug-in hybrid is a great tweener solution. The Volvo XC90 Recharge is one such example. Let’s dive in. The three-row XC90 is available as a pure gas-powered SUV also, but for our purposes we’re going to focus on the Hybrid model, makes 455 hp and 523 lb ft of torque. By comparison, the gas-powered version makes a max 295 horsepower, so you can see why I wanted to just review this one. The powertrain combines a direct injection turbocharged 4-cylinder with an electric motor and a 14.9 kWh battery). How does the acceleration feel? Rocket like? Then throw it into Power mode and the XC90 truly takes off. Again, doesn’t feel like you’re hauling around a family hauler. There are other modes like Pure, which goes pure EV mode, and for the record the transitions between hybrid and gas are seamless. There’s even an off-road mode or you can go full-time AWD. If you’re interested in fuel economy numbers they’re worth looking at. (Pure EV Range: 35 miles; 58 MPGe; 26 MPG). Even using the engine only if you’re on a longer road trip that MPG number isn’t horrifying. The XC90 Recharge is going up against players like the Land Rover Range Rover and Range Rover Sport PHEV, Audi Q5 PHEV. BMW X5 gets a plug-in option so does the , Porsche Cayenne, Lincoln Aviator PHEV, There are three trim levels of the XC90 Recharge eAWD starting with the Core with a base price of just around $73,000. That’s more than just a little lose change. Your hard-earned cash includes a portable charger, a moonroof, Google Assistant built in, which is great because it will help you find a charging station if you’re in need. It also gets an air purifier, AC for the third row, a 12-inch instrument panel and 9-inch display that’s Apple CarPlay compatible as well as heated power seats, and advanced driver safety functions including lane keeping assist, cross traffic alerts, Pilot Assist, which is a dynamic stop and go cruise control and emergency braking. The Plus only adds $1,700 to the bottom line and adds a heated steering wheel, 360-degree cameras, fancy interior ambient lights, rain sensing wipers, and heated rear seats among other things. That seems like a lot of extras for less than two grand. If you’re going there, I say pony up the extra 2 and get all the things. On the Ultimate trim you do get even more like an upgraded sound system, head up display, ventilated front seats and heated steering wheel, but you’re paying another $7500 on top of that extra $1700, so I say stick with the Plus and that’s a sweet spot with lots of goodies. Incidentally, if you’re the kind of person who likes to go places, you can tow up to 5,000 pounds with the XC90 Recharge. When it comes to exterior styling, I’ve always been a fan of Volvos. I think this one is reminiscent of their wagons, which I think are next level. They have great proportions, the grille isn’t massive, but understatedly European. The wheel options are cool, but never overdone and Volvo has a knack for great paint color. When it comes to the interior, it’s definitely a reflection of the restraint shown on the outside. The less is more approach is appreciated and you’ll find great color and materials like wood and leather. Not a lot of shiny chrome to distract. Even the shifter is sculptural. Plug-in hybrids are a great transitional vehicle to the EV world or perfect if you are someone who drives lots of miles a day and isn’t able to charge between trips. The Volvo XC90 Recharge eAWD helps you do all that driving stylishly and safely. 00:00 2023 Volvo XC90 Recharge 0:50 Powertrain 2:05 Driving Impressions 4:20 Competitors 4:36 Trims and Pricing 6:12 Exterior 6:37 Interior

01.01.1970 · 01:00:00 ··· 11.07.2023 · 13:00:46 ··· ···
··· ··· ··· ··· For the latest Buick Envista pricing and information: https://www.kbb.com/buick/envista/ The Buick Envista a five-passenger crossover from the company that some folks may be wondering if they were even still around. It’s got a sporty shape, see that slopped roofline, that means sporty. This is actually the first vehicle that wears what will be Buick’s new design language so take it all in. It’s got a new face, which if I’m honest I don’t dislike. Those squinty headlamps look like they could be on a proper performance SUV. The rear thee-quarter angle gets a bit complicated for me, lots of pointy shapes and what looks like long brushstrokes, which do give the Envista a feeling of movement when it’s standing still. But, hey, what do you think? When we get inside it’s pleasant, but it’s not something that feels ground-breaking, if that even is possible anymore. It gets large screens on high trim grades, which if it’s premium it should, and leather do dads everywhere. I can see what Buick did with the shapes in here, they’re not completely sharp angles but again look elongated giving everything a soften and elegant feel, less, German. Total that’s 19-inches of screen up front and even the base model gets an 11-inch screen, which is according to Buick the largest in the segment. Of course you’ll get wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capability as well as wireless charging – at this point those features are a must on anything that wants to call itself premium. When it comes to cargo space you get 20.7 cu-ft behind the second row, and when that goes down you’re looking at 42 cu-ft. That first number is more than the Lexus UX, Acura MDX and the Volvo XC40. Since, we’re on it, the Buick Envista counts all those as competitors. As well as the Mazda CX-30. Under the hood you’ll get a 1.2-liter Turbo 3-cylinder. Yes, that’s right. It makes 136 horsepower combined with 162 lb-ft of torque. Acceleration? Zip? Pep? Does it feel underpowered since that seems like such a small number? Regardless of what you might think about that engine it does check off boxes in the efficiency department (graphic: mpg: 28 city/32 hwy). Gas engines are becoming so much smarter, I feel like we’re just getting to the good stuff with them. The Envista comes standard with the Buick Driver Confidence package that includes automatic emergency braking and lane keep assist with lane departure warnings, but you can also opt for more features such as side blind zone alerts, adaptive cruise control and rear cross-traffic alerts. But something Buick really wants you to know about is pricing. The Envista has a starting price of $23,500 for the base Preferred trim. The top Avenir trim starts under $30,000 and $29,600. In a world of high-pricey vehicles, that’s actually at the level of a comparably equipped mid-priced vehicle like the Hyundai Kona, Kia Seltos, Toyota Corolla Cross and Honda HR-V, only those are all demonstrably less sporty and European looking than the Envista. Will we be hearing a ton more about this vehicle? That remains to be seen, but it’s doing its best to make at least a compact splash. It’s got nice design, good interior space, a comfortable ride with an efficient powertrain and some good tech. Overall, solid. Do we need it? I think a better question is what else are you looking for? 00:00 2024 Buick Envista 0:32 Exterior 1:34 Interior 4:40 Competitors 4:50 Engine 5:11 Driving Impressions

01.01.1970 · 01:00:00 ··· 04.07.2023 · 23:01:00 ··· ···
··· ··· ··· ··· For the latest Aston Martin DB12 pricing and information: https://www.kbb.com/aston-martin/db12/ The Aston Martin DB12 doesn’t look like it messes around, so I’m sure not going to with some drawn out intro. Imagine if the DB11 and the DBS Superleggera had a baby. I feel like this is it. There’s a lot of DNA from both vehicles and I think Aston picked the best of both and I think this is looking like a beast that you can still take to the opera. The gaping mouth that looks like it’s eating pavement even before it moves comes from the DBS. The DB12 is slung lower than its predecessor, that’s a bit of Vantage in there, looks like. If the hips are wider than on the 11 but don’t take it quite to the extreme of the DBS. Yes, it’s a stunner and I love it, but with its new more aggressive nature and the Aston moniker of Super Tourer – yes, they’re shooting for more of a performance bent on this car – there was something pure GT I loved about the DB11. That was a pure touring car and this one pushes that boundary toward sports car. The DB12 gets a crispy 4.0-liter twin turbo V8. This heart in the DB12 pumps out 671 horsepower and 590-pound feet of torque. Those are incredible numbers – and actually, they end up being best in class and 34% more than the DB11. Want another big number. Top speed of 202 mph. and a 0-60 number. They managed to squeeze all this out by making very Aston modifications on the AMG engine including using larger turbos, increasing cooling, modified cams, and improved compression ratios. And yippee-kiy-yay, wow. This thing smokes. This thing has guts, chuzpta, balls, gumption, however you want to say it, it’s here. It gets moved around by an 8-speed automatic transmission, which I think shifts quickly. I’ll echo my sentiments about the DB12’s looks moving away from the GT world. It’s the same with the way the throttle mapping feels, that’s aggressive and punchy – again rather un-GT like. It’s not a negative but it’s just moving away from a smooth operating powerhouse and acting more like a great gut punch. 80% of the hardware is new and 100% of everything has been touched by new software. When it comes to what underpins the DB12 there’s a lot that’s similar with DB11 but it’s been reworked, reinforced and retooled. They’ve stiffened up the chassis and made improvements to elements like the engine cross brace, the front crossmember and the bulkhead and that’s improved lateral stiffness and tortional rigidity. All of those elements add up to being able to fling the DB12 around turns with more fervor. Another reason the nice folks at Aston are going to enable you to do that is because this GT gets an e-diff on the rear for the first time. You also get stiffer anti-roll bars and adaptive dampers that have 500% increase in force distribution. I’d love to say I got a solid chance to push this car to its limits or even mine, but it was raining for much of my drive on the super twisty bits. Suffice to say, even as I pushed this car as far as conditions allowed, I could feel it encouraging me to do more. It’s got a lot to give a driver and will make you feel very secure about driving it hard. The DB12 also gets 21-inch wheels wrapped in bespoke Michelin Pilot Sport 5 tires (275/35 front and 315/30 rear) that use compounds unique to Aston. They’re the first OEM to use these tires on a production car and even in the rain the grip felt solid. Aston’s put together a car that’s more aggressive now than assertive and pushes the GT limit. So, when you’re doing all that fancy driving, interacting with the vehicle here is something that I’ve been traditionally underwhelmed by. While the design has always been top notch the user interface has always left me a bit cold. Aston also uses tech from Mercedes and it’s always been previous generation. Aston’s got a new system that they’ve done all by themselves, no hand me downs here, and I’m really eager to try it out. When it comes to interior craftsmanship Aston Martin always jumps to the head of the line for me. And it should. It’s all handmade. In a world of conveyor belt slap-it-together-and-churn-it-out cars, this is a rarity. Some optional bits on the DB12 include metallic paint, carbon fiber details, privacy glass, colored brake calipers, and smoked taillights. Pricing starts at around $250,000. And for that you get a well-rounded car that gives you great power, agility, performance, elegance and stature. I’d say that’s very worthy of my number 12. It’s new, it’s beautiful, it’s finally got a new user interface that’s great. If I were in the market for a luxury performance car, DB12. 00:00 2024 Aston Martin DB12 0:24 Exterior 2:01 Competitors 2:28 Engine 3:30 Driving Impressions 8:51 Interior 12:29 Price

01.01.1970 · 01:00:00 ··· 28.06.2023 · 07:01:00 ··· ···
··· ··· ··· ··· For the latest Kia EV9 pricing and information: https://www.kbb.com/Kia/EV9/ The Kia EV9 is a big deal being the first non luxury 3-row electric SUV coming to the U.S. market for seating up to 7 passengers, and it moves Kia towards their commitment to become a future leader in sustainable mobility and their goal of achieving carbon neutrality by 2045. From the look of the EV9, the future is NOW. It rides on Kia’s E-GMP platform and utilizes Kia’s fourth generation battery technology. Its boxy shape, big wheels, short overhangs, and 7.8 inches of ground clearance give it a brawny look, and the vertical tail lights and digital pattern lighting on the tiger nose grille give it some sci-fi vibes. The EV9’s wheelbase is 7.87 inches longer than the Telluride’s which should translate to some good interior space for occupants. Despite its blockish appearance, the EV9 has a drag coefficient of just 0.28 which is achieved through a 3D sculpted underbody cover, air curtains integrated into the front bumper, and aerodynamic wheels. The EV9 will be offered in rear wheel or all wheel drive. A standard and long range RWD model will be offered with a 76.1 or 99.8 kWh battery and will have 215 and 201 hp respectively. No, that’s not a typo, the model with the bigger battery gets less power but that long range battery is good for up to 300 miles of driving while the smaller standard RWD battery only gets up to 223 miles of range. The Long Range AWD model has the same 99.8 kWh battery with a dual motor setup that delivers 379 horsepower, and 443 lb-ft of max torque. That’ll get the EV9 to sprint from 0-60 in around 5.3 seconds and will have about 270 miles of range. The AWD GT-line model get’s a bump in torque and will have 516 lb-ft. The EV9 will have fast-charging capabilities of up to 218 kW, and 15 minutes of charging can provide up to 148 additional miles, and that fast charge capability can get a 10-80% state of charge in around 25 minutes. If there’s no where to go while charging, you can position the seats in relaxation mode so you can sit back, relax, and watch all the KBB videos you desire. The EV9 will also have an integrated Charging Control Unit which includes vehicle to load functionality. This lets customers use up to 3.68 kW of power from the EV9 to power things from laptops to electric grills. As heavy as the EV9 is, it still has some fun potential as if you were driving a high powered Kia Telluride which is great. If you’re looking to tow with your EV SUV, the max tow rating for the AWD models is 5,000 lbs and for RWD it’s 2,000 lbs. Some standard safety tech on the EV9 will include forward collision avoidance assist, blind spot warning, lane following assist, and Highway Driving Assist. The North American debut of the EV9 will have available advanced Highway Driving Pilot which will support level 3 autonomous driving that will use 15 sensors, including 2 LiDars, and this will give the EV9 a full 360 degree field of view for obstacle and collision avoidance. Keep in mind this system only supports level 3 autonomous driving, but still needs to be approved by the U.S. government. Driving is important but what about the inside? Well, the interior of the EV9 looks and feels great, ingress is easy with wide opening doors, plus there’s plenty of space. Kia’s pledge for sustainability is shown through their use of recycled, bio and sustainable materials throughout the cabin, and the thoughtful use of space and flat floors which is made possible thanks to that longer wheelbase and low mounted battery pack. Along with comfortable seats, there’s also a massage function which could help for those long hauls. There are various storage spots around the cabin, a wireless charger, 12 inch digital gauge cluster and 12 inch infotainment screen, but there’s no available wireless apple CarPlay and Android Auto. However, charging won’t be an issue because all 3 rows have USB-C charging outlets. As far as cargo, behind the 3rd row there’s 20.2 cu-ft of space, and with the 2nd and 3rd row folded, cargo volume increases to 81.9 cu-ft. If you’re curious, there is a frunk. There's no exact trim breakdown yet, but great options like 21 inch wheels, 360 degree camera, remote smart park assist, panoramic roof, Meridian sound system, head-up display, and 2nd row captain's chairs will be available options. The EV9 is expected to debut in the states towards the end of 2023, and will be the first Kia EV to be assembled locally in West Point, Georgia at the beginning of 2024. 00:00 2024 Kia EV9 00:56 Exterior 02:04 Powertrains 03:31 Driving Impressions 09:30 Interior 12:17 Frunk 12:27 Interior Details 13:08 Swivel Seats 13:35 Your Car's Value 13:54 EV9 Available Options 14:10 Final Thoughts

29:: 2023 Toyota Highlander | Review & Road Test

01.01.1970 · 01:00:00 ··· 26.06.2023 · 14:00:02 ··· ···
··· ··· ··· ··· For the latest Toyota Highlander pricing and information: https://www.kbb.com/toyota/highlander/ Yup, I’m pretty sure you’ve seen these things everywhere, but this 4th gen Toyota Highlander receives a few changes for the 2023 model year. So strap in, sit back and relax with your favorite cup of Joe while I drop off this relaxed review… that isn’t about a midcycle refresh so relax on the graphics mr. editor. For those who have growing families and are looking to avoid that minivan life, the Highlander is a viable option. With bold, muscular styling, seating for up to 8 passengers, and a hybrid option, you can haul the crew in style. There’s no huge changes to the exterior for this model year… …BUT Toyota added a new color. Cypress Green. That’s this! Hmmm… I kinda like it, and if you don’t, relax. You can voice that in the comment section. Opening the large doors of the Highlander reveals it’s modest but functional interior. Ingress and egress are simple, and soft materials line the cabin with plenty of spots to store small items. Comfortable and supportive front seats make it easy to find a relaxed position and the second row provides good legroom and headroom, even for tall guys like me, with standard USB ports. You’ll notice our tester has the bench seating arrangement, but captains’ chairs are available on higher trims. I want to point out that the 3rd row doesn’t have any USB ports on any trim of the Highlander, so plan accordingly. Behind the third row there’s (16 cu-ft.) of cargo room which is a little smaller than the Honda Pilot and a lot smaller than the Chevy Traverse, but if no one is riding way out back, fold the third row for (48.4 cu-ft.) and 2nd and 3rd row folded yields (84.3 cu-ft.). A couple things back here that may ruin a relaxed day is that there should be an easier way to fold down the seats. And second, there’s no close & lock button for the rear hatch. I think almost every SUV could use that. To get my mind off of the rear let’s go to the front where Toyota finally brings their new multimedia system to the Highlander with an available 12.3 inch screen. A 12-inch digital gauge cluster is also available, and wireless charging has been moved from the center console box to under the center dashboard for easier access. While trying to realign my chakras thanks to that volume knob, I’ll continue to focus on the new. Like this new 2.4L turbo 4-cylinder linked to an 8 speed automatic transmission (graphic: Turbo 4-cylinder 265 hp/ 310 lb-ft, Outgoing V6 295 hp/ 263 lb-ft) that now replaces the outgoing V6. Horsepower takes a ding but relax, torque gets a big bump which allows this 4 banger to tow up to 5,000 pounds, and this new powertrain is more environmentally conscious with an improvement in CO2 emissions. Along with added torque, this new powertrain improves fuel economy (2023 4-cylinder 22 city/ 29 hwy. 2022 V6 21 city/ 29 hwy). Yeah not by MUCH but adding AWD only penalizes efficiency by 1 mpg, so let’s count the small wins. These numbers are on par with this segment but if you’re looking for more efficiency, the Highlander Hybrid will put out a combined 36 mpg, with the same 1 mpg ding if you opt for AWD. This is definitely an easy vehicle to drive. Visibility outward is good, the seats are comfy, and the cabin doesn’t have much road noise coming in. Driving around town the Highlander carries itself well and doesn’t feel like a heavy SUV. Brakes are a little squishy but you get used to it. Steering is light which is just fine because driving this should be a relaxing experience. One way to change that is the drive modes. All Highlanders come with Toyota Safety Sense 2.5+ which includes pre-collision with pedestrian detection, dynamic radar cruise control, lane departure alert with steering assist, and lane tracing assist. Blind spot warning is also available on all but the lowest base trim. Pricing for a base Highlander starts at ($36,420) plus destination, and that includes 18-inch wheels, LED headlights, smart key access with push button start, cloth seating for 8 passengers with power adjustable driver’s seat, 8-inch touchscreen with wireless phone connectivity, tri-zone climate control, and 5 USB ports. Competitors in the midsize 3-row SUV segment are vast and include the aforementioned Honda Pilot and Chevy Traverse, the new Mazda CX-90, Ford Explorer, Dodge Durango, Kia Telluride, Hyundai Palisade, Nissan Pathfinder, Subaru Ascent, and if you’re in need of more 3rd row space the Toyota Grand Highlander will be available soon. So, so many midsize 3-row SUVs to choose from. But Toyota gives the Highlander a way to stand out with different powertrains, practicality, and that Toyota reliability and resale value that may help ownership be… a relaxing experience. I’m out of coffee. 00:00 2023 Toyota Highlander 0:40 Exterior 1:07 Interior 4:50 Engine 5:10 Driving Impressions 9:15 Competitors

31:: 2023 Ford Super Duty | First Drive

01.01.1970 · 01:00:00 ··· 21.06.2023 · 10:00:22 ··· ···
··· ··· ··· ··· For the latest Ford Super Duty pricing and information: https://www.kbb.com/ford/super-duty/ We love trucks, you love trucks, Ford loves trucks so much they barely sell cars here anymore. This is the Super Duty. That means it’s anything from the F-250 to the F-600. These are the big chonks and I’m going to talk about as much as I can in the few hours I’m here at the Ford Proving Grounds. And there’s a lot to talk about. I could spend an hour just discussing the model options, trim levels and pricing. But let’s start out with all our options. There’s the F-250 and the bigger F-350 those are both available in all the trim levels, The XL, XL-Off-road, SLT, Lariat, King Ranch, Platinum, Limited and Tremor. The duly 350 doesn’t come in the XL off-road or Tremor versions. There are four engine options available, too. Standard is now a 6.8-liter V8 (405 hp/445 lb-ft torque). It’s naturally aspirated. The 7.3-liter V8 is higher output (430 hp/485 lb-ft torque) gets more in the torque department. There are two diesel options in a 6.7-liter power stroke V8. (475 hp/1050 lb-ft torque). That gets a single turbo and the high output turbo diesel (500 hp/1200 lb-ft torque) gets a sick amount of torque that does some serious heavy lifting. Some of those max numbers mean you’re towing with a gooseneck hitch, so make sure you come properly prepared. Towing is the main reason you buy one of these and we’ve got some opportunities here. But here’s a quick snapshot of max towing capacities by model. The duly 450 40,000 pounds. If you opt for the Tremor on either the 250 or 350, you’re looking at 18,200 pounds max. Cargo capacity maxes out at 8,000 pounds depending on model and engine variant. The Super Duty gets a new system called the Ford Pro Upfit Integration System and lets you hook other hardware like a snow plow or crane into the truck electrical system so you can use the truck’s digital display to operate the equipment. Those engine options aside, the Super Duty series gets some upgraded looks both inside and out. There are seven new grille options all maximized for cooling. They get the C-clamp lighting and available LEDs on all trim levels. There are also new appearance packages with the STX, Sport, and Black that offer up wheel options and paint choices that give you the opportunity to give your truck some personal flair. Where it’s available the Tremor off-road package gives you a front end lift, and off-road tuned suspension that will eat up whoops and allow you to increase speeds over washboard. You also get a Dana front axle and 35-inch off-road tires from Goodyear. You have terrain control, which allows you to select different terrain like mud, sand, snow and the like and you also get Trail Turn Assist which is on the Bronco and is a great system for making your monster truck feel smaller around turns. Inside the Super Duty you get a standard 8-inch touchscreen but on anything higher than the XL you’re looking at a 12-inch screen. There’s a 12-inch digital gauge cluster that you can customize, wireless charging and this cool slot for a tablet for work stuff. You can also opt for a max recline seat which comes close to laying completely flat in case you need some shut eye. You can make upgrades to your Super Duty that include a Bang & Olufson sound system, heated and ventilated front seats and other luxury amenities. Check out the King Ranch, Platinum and Limited trims for those extras. There’s a Blind Spot information system you can use with the gooseneck, or fifth wheel set up. You put in on your trailer and you can see when you’ve got company next to you. There’s also a Tailgate Down feature that lets you know when the tailgate is down, wow, that was well-named, and can even help you back up onto a loading dock with it down. Okay pricing on the Super Duty F-250 XL starts around $44,000. If you get the F-250 XLT (graphic: $50,105) you get the bigger gas engine and can upgrade to the Tremor Off-Road package (graphic: Tremor Package: $4375). The F-250 Limited, which is the highest base price with this model starts at around $96,100. The 350 XL starts around $45,100 and maxes out with the Limited at $97,300. The 450 base model XL starts at $58,500 and tops out on the Limited at, yes, you guessed it over six figures with a base price of $103,100. The Super Duty is big truck. Capable, durable, heavy-duty stuff for heavy duty work. There’s a reason why the F-Series is the best-selling vehicle in America, and Ford’s just made it even more compelling with some insane tech and power upgrades. Dig in. 32:: 2024 Acura Integra Type S | Review & Road Test

··· ··· ··· ··· For the latest Acura Integra pricing and information: https://www.kbb.com/acura/integra/ If you’re wondering why Acura didn’t call it a Type R, it’s because Rs are made for the racetrack. The Integra Type S is made for “sophisticated street performance”. Though crafted for public roads, the Type S is very much a racier Integra. Total width has grown by 2.8 inches thanks to fender flares. Elsewhere, an overhauled front fascia increases cooling airflow, the aluminum hood sports a functional vent, and the rear fascia features a gloss black diffuser above a trio of exhaust finishers. Interior enhancements are simpler and include a perforated leather steering wheel, a color-matched lower dash, and a Type S shift knob. Heated 12-way front seats add firmer side bolsters, Ultrasuede inserts, and an embossed Type S logo on the headrest. For infotainment, there's the same 9” touchscreen found in most Integra trim. The 10.2” digital gauge cluster display adds brake force, boost pressure, and G meter readouts. And in Sport+ mode, the yellow needles are an homage to the 3rd gen JDM Integra Type R. Shifting to the mechanical side of the equation, the suspension employs adaptive dampers, thicker front, and rear stabilizer bars, and a range of other tweaks. Credit for the Type S’s enhanced grip goes to its 19-inch Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires. For power, there's a 2-liter turbocharged engine making 320 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque. A standard mechanical limited-slip differential gets the power to the ground. And, miraculously, under hard acceleration, the Type S stays pointed in the direction you intend. The only transmission offered is a 6-speed manual. If you want an Acura Integra Type S, it'll cost $50,800 plus destination charges. Acura identifies the Mercedes-Benz CLA35 AMG, Audi S3, & BMW M235i as the Type S’s prime competitors. And versus that squad, the Integra delivers more horsepower but at a higher base price than all three. Countering that, equip the Germans to match the Integra’s robust mono-spec equipment list and the Type S’s price premium essentially disappears. Meanwhile, the similarly powerful but less fancy Honda Civic Type R starts under $43-grand. 00:00 2024 Acura Integra Type S Review 01:08 Exterior & Interior Details 2:46 Performance & Handling 3:53 Engine, Manual Transmission, & Acceleration 5:49 Exhaust Sound 7:18 Brakes 8:31 Price & Competitors

··· ··· ··· ··· For the latest Audi Q8 e-tron pricing and information: https://www.kbb.com/audi/q8-e-tron/ Two body styles are still available in the Audi Q8 e-tron and the e-tron Sportback. They both get a redesigned grille, I’m not sure I like it, but it’s got new aero elements like wheel spoilers and these intakes and curtains all designed to redirect air away from the tires all of which decreases the drag coefficient by 6%. You let me know what you think. Some other newbies include refreshed lighting elements, and updated wheel options but most importantly is a larger 106-kWh battery, which engineers have miraculously crammed into the same packaging. Clever. Yes, now the Q8 e-tron gets up to 285 miles per charge, which feels very in line with the luxury EV SUV segment. And if for some reason that isn’t enough for your road trip to Montana, then as an Audi owner or lessee, you can use the Audi on Demand program and get any car you want for a longer trip at no charge. Uh, RS3 for me, sil vous please. You can fast charge your e-tron with a max 170 kW fast charging capability. And that’s 170 all the way to 80% where some max charging capacities drop after hitting around 20%. The Q8 e-tron either the regular body style or the Sportback gets two motors, one on the front axle and the second on the rear. Combined those are good for 355 horses and 414-pound foot of torque. Not bad. But if you shift into Sport mode you can get a goose of power to 402 horsepower and 490 lb-ft of torque. But don’t be disappointed because this car does not feel underpowered at all. Do not forget, this is an Audi with its Quattro. So, you’ve got stability at four corners when you need it. The cabin feels quiet and luxurious as you’d expect. And visibility? As this is a utility vehicle you can tow up to 4000 pounds. That’s almost as much as it weighs. Yes, the Q8 e-tron weighs in at 5600 pounds. When it comes to the interior, Audi does not pull any punches as usual and delivered a complete knock out. Materials, design, color palate, none of this disappoints. And when it comes to comfort and roominess, the Q8 hits. Even in the second row there’s plenty of leg room and space for your gear And yes, there’s a frunk here for your storage pleasure but manage your expectations because it’s tiny. Dual touchscreens run the user experience in here. With a 10.1-inch screen up top, which displays your Smartphone interface and the audio system functions. The lower screen does climate duty. You also get wireless charging, but that’s only as an option. Not standard. That’s kind of a bummer. Audi’s MMI system uses haptic touch without sound. It’s easy to use, intuitive and not incredibly layered. The buttons are large enough that your fingers won’t miss. It’s quick and graphics are excellent. And of course, there’s the Audi digital gauge cluster, which, yes, I know other folks are doing it now, but I can remember when Audi was a ground breaker in this arena, so I still think they get extra kudos. It’s super customizable and graphics are also crystal clear. Audi offers up a lot of standard safety equipment for the drive on both body styles which now includes adaptive cruise control and lane keeping assist. That’s a great feature to have on an entry level luxury car. Audi’s system feels? You can expect to pay about $74,400 for the base Premium Q8 with the regular body style and about $77,800 for the Sportback option. But even on that base trim you’ll get some great standard features, like 20-inch wheel, that air suspension I mentioned earlier, heated leather power front seats, heated steering wheel, LED headlights, and four-zone climate control, that’s a lot of zones. If you feel the need to hit the Premium Plus level on either body type (graphic: Premium Plus $78,800/Sportback Premium Plus $82,200) Added features include wood trim inlays, ventilated front seats, a top view surround camera system and an upgraded Bang & Olfsen audio system. You can also opt for a package that gets you charge ports on both sides of the car. The Prestige and the Sportback Prestige both go up after that with the Sportback hitting around $88,200. There’s also a launch edition of both styles available that tops out at $91,950 and gets 22-inch wheels, black trim including mirror caps and the grille comes in body color. Those things might all be nice, but truthfully, they might be diminishing returns and the Premium could get you going just fine. But if you’ve got the duckets spend away, because it’s quite beautiful. 00:00 2023 Audi Q8 e-tron 0:24 Exterior 1:16 Range & Charging 2:34 Competitors 2:44 Powertrain 3:05 Driving Impressions 7:13 Interior

··· ··· ··· ··· For the latest Lucid Air pricing and information: https://www.kbb.com/lucid/air/ For a luxury electric vehicle, yes, aerodynamic is the word of the day and the Lucid Air achieves that and then some, besting Tesla in the category, but it does it with so much style. It’s all elegant shapes and subtle but sexy curves. Its hood extends out like the arms of a ballerina and it cinches in at the waist. The LED head and taillights are delicate but powerful and elegant. There’s nothing it lacks and isn’t more than it needs. In a word, gorgeous. Going inside proves that the Air is more than just a pretty face. On getting in you’ll notice that the front of the cabin features dark materials and colors. That’s because designers wanted to achieve a focused space for the driver, something akin to the cockpit of an airplane. But in the second row, where your delighted passengers are fortunate enough to luxuriate, colors are light, giving their space an airy vibe. There is more room back here than you could possibly fathom. The seats feel great and of course are heated. You’ve got an electronic console to turn those on and do other functions like raise and lower their rear shades. The tech in the Air levels up to the color and material design. While comprised of mostly touchscreen, there are buttons for HVAC and volume. Incidentally, this switchgear was designed to emulate piano keys and have a great feel. Some highlights of the system, which was actually just got a massive update, include a navigation system that will quickly locate a charging station for you, it integrates with your phone well. It’s currently got Alexa functionality, but Apple CarPlay is coming soon, followed by Android Auto. The lower infotainment screen moves to reveal a cubby for storage. There are four trim levels on the Air. The base level Pure ($87,400/$92,900 AWD) which comes as a two- or four-motor drivetrain (480 hp/410-mile max range). VO: Both the Grand Touring ($154,000 819hp/516 mile max range) and the Grand Touring Performance ($179,000 1050hp/118 kWh- 446 mile max range) get 22 battery modules with a 118 kW capacity. Can we just take a second and look at those horsepower numbers again, please. (819 hp/Grand Touring Performance 1,050 hp). Those are nuts. You might think the pricing is, too, and because this is a luxury car it no longer qualifies for that $7500 tax credit, though Lucid has offered that to customers themselves, so check with the the company to find out if they’re still honoring it. The instrument cluster gives you feedback on regen, speed and also for Lucid’s DreamDrive system, which is basically an advanced lane keeping assist. No, not quite up to Mercedes or Super Cruise levels yet, but something tells me they’re working on it. But the system does operate smoothly – not super jerky or noticeable. Driving around town in Smooth mode the Air still exudes confidence. The regen even in standard is aggressive and takes a bit of getting used to but then you put it in high regen and you’ve got true one-pedal driving. After about a day or two learning to modulate the throttle you’ll stop feeling like you’re in the back of a rickshaw being pedaled uphill. The system is incredibly smooth and it’s quite fun to drive. When you engage Swift and Sprint mode, look out. The instant torque, even on this “sedate” 600 hp version will snap your neck back in the best way possible. This is a flipping rocket and he’s not light at a minimum of 5,200 pounds. I promise you, though, you do not feel it when you’re driving. It’s agile, comfortable, absorbs even the worst street bumps, which I’m absolutely finding all of, and turns with poise and balance, then explodes of said turn with gravitas. I’ve got the larger 20-inch wheels which are wider and reduce the range somewhat, so not sure how it does on the narrower meats that give you more range. When it comes to charging your Air, you get one free year in the Pure and Touring (max charging 200 kW) models and two years in the GT and GT Performance (max charging 350 kW) through Electrify America. On the GT trim I plugged in and got over 100 miles of range in less than 10 minutes. The Touring will take a little longer, but not much, which is likely only a few minutes shy of a normal gas station stop if you’re looking for a bump before getting back on the road. A full charge overnight should take less than 13 hours on a level two charger. I managed 100 miles in 4 hours on one. Gorgeous, smart, funny, kind, and yeah, expensive. But if I was looking for a daily luxury EV and had the cash, this would be at the top of my list. I’d love it if the folks at Lucid made a smaller one, but the Air here, it’s rarified. 00:00 2023 Lucid Air 0:35 Exterior 1:41 Interior 5:10 Powertrain options 6:43 Driving Impressions 9:25 Charging and Range

39:: 2024 Volkswagen ID. BUZZ | First Look

01.01.1970 · 01:00:00 ··· 02.06.2023 · 07:01:00 ··· ···
··· ··· ··· ··· For the latest Volkswagen ID.Buzz pricing and information: https://www.kbb.com/volkswagen/id-buzz/ Introducing the ID.Buzz. After an almost 20 year hiatus, VW decides to bring back this icon to the US and electrify it. Inspired by the VW minibus, which looks like this, the ID.buzz has short overhangs, nice long wheelbase, these “air vents” on the d-pillar which is a nod to the original Microbus’ cooling slots, and a large illuminated VW badge on the front. Even with its boxy dimensions, it still has a drag coefficient of 0.29. The two tone paint gives it a retro vibe, the large 20 inch aerodynamic wheels give it some style, and the LED light treatment in the front and back give it some modern flare. Let’s sit back and gaze for a second. The ID.Buzz that we’ll be getting here in the states will be the 3 row version which is almost 10 inches longer than that of the 2 row European version that debuted back in 2022, and will have more horsepower and a bigger battery. This bus rides on Volkswagen’s MEB platform with a low mounted battery pack that not only saves space, but also give it a low center of gravity. Like the original microbus, the powerplant is out back giving it standard rear wheel drive and has a 91 kWh battery and 282 hp, which is more than the 2-row euro spec bus’ 82 kWh battery and has 201 hp. Opting for available AWD with a dual motor setup in the 3 row ID.Buzz bumps up output to about 330 hp. The ID.Buzz actually looks much larger in person, but doesn’t seem overwhelmingly huge which should be good when maneuvering around tight spots. It’s 192 inches long and it’s as wide as the 2-row VW Atlas, but stands 5 inches taller. All that to say the inside is plenty roomy. Seating for seven is standard, and available 2nd row captain’s chairs make seating for six. The high seating position up front gives drivers great visibility outward, and there’s standard 12-way power adjustable driver and passenger seats with memory settings, ventilation, and massage functions. Oh, and don’t forget these fun ‘Pause and Play’ brake and acceleration pedals. Apart from the center console, there’s also a storage spot in the dash, a wireless charging slot next to the steering wheel, and 8 total usb-c outlets around the cabin including one near the rearview mirror, and on the passenger door. With a removable console and a flat floor, you and your friend can compare socks or whatever the kids are doing nowadays. But let’s see how a tall drink of water like myself fits in the other 2 rows. 2nd row occupants will also have a USB-C port on both sliding doors and a control switch that opens up a small square window which is a modern take on the classic sliding windows. It’s not the biggest window, but if your rear passengers want to adjust the temperature, those controls are located above the doors, and each row has their own dedicated air vents. But now, I know you’re dying to ask “what about cargo space”? The second and third row provide some good flexibility when hauling people and cargo. The 3rd row can slide forward for more cargo space, and the flat floors help maximize cargo capacity. And for those who don’t even need that third row, the ID.Buzz has another trick up its sleeve. Along with practicality, this EV wouldn’t be complete without some good, modern tech. There are 30 ambient light colors, outboard second row heated seats, 5.3-inch digital gauge cluster that displays important driving information, and a 12.9 inch touchscreen with wireless apple CarPlay and android auto. Available features for the ID.Buzz include an electrochromatic sunroof, heated windshield, 14 speaker Harmon Kardon audio system, and that flexboard with 2 fabric storage bins. Standard safety tech worth mentioning is Volkswagen’s IQ.Drive, which includes blind spot monitor, rear cross traffic alert, lane assist, adaptive cruise control with stop and go, and additional features like 360 degree camera, head-up display, and park assist with remote parking. I have to admit, the ID.Buzz has charm. From its many easter eggs to the functionality of the interior, you can tell a lot of thought went into reinventing this VW icon, and will definitely look to spark up some interest with older and younger buyers. 00:00 2024 Volkswagen ID. 41:: 2024 Toyota Grand Highlander | First Drive

01.01.1970 · 01:00:00 ··· 30.05.2023 · 21:30:06 ··· ···
··· ··· ··· ··· For the latest Toyota Grand Highlander pricing and information: https://www.kbb.com/toyota/grand-highlander/ The Toyota Grand Highlander is a 3-row midsize SUV. Even though it’s built on a different platform than the existing Toyota Highlander, the Grand Highlander is kinda the same thing …but with more room for people and cargo. Starting in the front, there are independent armrests with a separate console lid. There’s a passenger-side dashboard tray with an adjacent USB port. There are also 3 cupholders for front occupants including a big one that can house hefty water bottles. Poke around and material quality is fine, but this is not a premium product. If you want premium vibes, look to the upcoming Lexus TX, whose underpinnings are shared with the Grand Highlander. Maximum occupancy for the Grand Highlander is 8 though that drops to 7 in higher trims thanks to 2nd-row captains’ chairs. For cargo space, the Grand Highlander offers a healthy 20.6 cu-ft behind the 3rd row. Nearly matching the Kia Telluride’s 21 cu-ft figure and exceeding the standard Highlander by 4.6 cu-ft. If you need more cargo space and fewer seats, dropping the 3rd row can be frustrating. I swear I’m not trying to make this look harder than it is. Finicky 2nd and 3rd-row seat operation is a trait the Highlander and Grand Highlander share. On a more positive note, we have infotainment. The Grand Highlander offers a standard 12.3” touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android auto, over-the-air updates, and voice control via the “Hey, Toyota” prompt. It’s the same system we’ve seen in other modern Toyotas and I find it easy to operate. Front-wheel drive comes standard with the base and hybrid models. All-wheel drive adds $1,600 to the price tag. Move to the most powerful Hybrid Max powertrain and all-wheel drive comes standard. That hybrid Max option is the same powertrain I drove in the Toyota Crown, which I described as “Spunky”. Beyond simply being more powerful, I enjoy the familiar acceleration feel delivered by the Max’s inclusion of a traditional 6-speed automatic transmission. Regarding price, the base XLE trim costs $43,070 plus destination and includes power heated front seats, smart key access with sensors on all the doors, a power liftgate, plus blind spot monitoring, lane keeping assist, full-speed dynamic cruise control, automatic emergency braking with pedestrian, bicyclist, and motorcyclist detection, and a feature that’ll bring the Grand Highlander to a safe stop if the driver is incapacitated. Unlike the smaller Highlander that’s offered in cheaper L and LE trims, the Grand Highlander has ditched those lower trims, skipping right to the well-equipped XLE. For perspective, the regular Highlander XLE starts at about $42,000. So, depending on which trim you're comparing, the Grand Highlander is anywhere from $1,000 to $4,000 pricier than its OG Highlander equivalent. Roomy 3-row midsize SUV alternatives include the Kia Telluride, Honda Pilot, Hyundai Palisade, Chevy Traverse, and perhaps the Jeep Grand Cherokee L. The nagging question for me is whether the Grand Highlander can justify its elevated base price versus the competition. Sure, the Grand comes well-equipped. But for buyers who want a comparatively simple yet roomy 3-row SUV, there are cheaper choices. 00:00 2024 Toyota Grand Highlander 0:30 Interior 4:11 Engine Options 5:05 Driving Impressions 7:46 Exterior 8:09 Cost 9:28 Competitors

42:: 2024 Alfa Romeo Tonale | First Drive

01.01.1970 · 01:00:00 ··· 29.05.2023 · 14:00:17 ··· ···
··· ··· ··· ··· For the latest Alfa Romeo Tonale pricing and information: https://www.kbb.com/alfa-romeo/tonale/ The Alfa Romeo Tonale starts out in the compact luxury crossover segment with a huge advantage. It’s gorgeous. But it also gets brains to go with its stunner good looks. Right off the bat you’re looking at a base price of $42,995 for the Tonale Sprint. And here’s what you get for the money. The PHEV powertrain, the only one that’s available in the US incidentally, pairs a 1.5-liter inline 4-cylinder turbo engine with a 90 kW motor that uses a 15.5 kWh battery. That combination is good for a pure electric range of 30 miles, which will get most drivers where they need to go and back every day. Replenishing they charge will take about 5 or 6 hours, the Italians were a bit vague on which, on a level 2 charger. But if you’re commute is far or you’re a road tripper you’re looking at 320 miles of range on a full tank. Combined horsepower is a robust 285 horses with 347 lb-ft of torque. For a compact SUV those are solid numbers. Basically, in Dynamic mode, this little thing is a rocket. It gets a 6-speed transmission that’s tuned to be pretty sporty in my opinion. Shifts are smooth and the gears, especially the lower ones feel long so you can really get good torque out of them. Paddle shifters are an option on the Ti, which is the middle trim level , so you can downshift if you’re looking for even more of that low end torque, and on the top Tonale Veloce you get the paddles standard. The Tonale is only coming to the US as an AWD vehicle. I’m not thrilled about the lack of choice, but that’s what it is. As far as its turning ability, the steering makes for precise turns even if it does feel a bit light and heavy on the electronic assistance. It feels planted and stable, with only a little bit of lateral back and forth and body roll if you’re really digging into turns. Torque vectoring differentials do their best to mitigate understeer if you’re accelerating into turns too quick. For more performance driving, upgrade your tires. The brakes feel sure-footed at the top of the pedal and you’ can adjust regen how you like it. You get more in efficiency mode, naturally. They’re not terribly natural feeling as they’re brake by wire, but they are very confidence inspiring. Whichever trim you get it has a 10.25-inch infotainment screen comes standard. That screen comes with the Stellantis Uconnect system, which has long been one of the best for its ease of use. It’s customizable, you can pick which apps are most used and put them close to you. Graphics are sharp. The processor is quick. And the layers are not vast. You get plenty of buttons for oft used functions. Of course, you’ve got standard wireless AppleCarPlay, Android Auto and Alexa available to interface your phone with. One thing that drove me nuts all day was the wireless phone charging cradle. If you drive aggressively around turns and the phone shifts position once it settles in it tells you it’s charging again. If you’re trying to follow nav instructions, through narrow Italian streets, it’s very distracting. There’s a 12.3-inch digital instrument panel that gives the driver a ton of helpful information and looks great pulling from Alfa’s history from cars like the Tipo 33 gauges. If you move up to the Ti trim, ($45,655) you have to add the High Performance Driving Package: $1500, to get paddle shifters and gloss red brake calipers, the Premium interior + sound package ($2500) which gets you memory seat position, Harmon Kardon audio system, and heated and ventilated front seats, the Premium Interior package by itself without the sound bits, ($1500) gets you perforated leather, ventilated front seats and the Active Assist Package ($1850) with Active driving assist, park sense front, rear, side and surround view camera system. The Veloce trim, that’s the highest one comes in around $50,000 and that gets you 19-inch wheels and a 9-way adjustable seat, but you still have to purchase some of those additional packages, so my recommendation is to get the Ti and add on what’s important to you. A lot of safety features also come standard and include adaptive cruise control, traffic sign recognition, intelligent speed assist, and lane departure warnings with lane keeping assist. Now, remember, this is an Alfa Romeo, but it’s still from the Stellantis group so all of those systems are shared among the flock. Alfa’s betting a lot on this little firecracker and hoping to double their NA sales, so they’ve put a lot into making sure it delivers. Do I think they were successful. Well, if a great looking luxury car that’s also fuel efficient and gets some excellent features even on the base model, then yes. Or should I say, si? 00:00 2024 Alfa Romeo Tonale 0:32 Powertrain 1:46 Driving Impressions 6:33 Interior 10:57 Exterior 12:36 Competitors

45:: 2023 Lamborghini Huracan Sterrato | Review & Off-Road Test

01.01.1970 · 01:00:00 ··· 22.05.2023 · 14:00:25 ··· ···
··· ··· ··· ··· For the latest Lamborghini Sterrato pricing and information: https://www.kbb.com/lamborghini/sterrato/ This is the Lamborghini Huracan Sterrato; a supercar transformed into a off-roader. As arguably the silliest cars I’ve ever driven, I do not feel compelled to offer practical insights. All I plan to do in this video is talk about what the Sterrato is like to drive in 3 places. Street, track, & dirt. First, some context. The Sterrato is an Huracan that’s been lifted 1.73 inches, widened a bit more than an inch front and rear, and restyled as a rally car dream machine. The nose has been reworked for a better approach angle. Plus, who doesn’t love rally lights? Lower, there’s aluminum front underbody protection. The fenders received cladding as the off-road gods command. Up top there are adorable little roof rails. And there’s a high-mounted air intake, which should help minimize ingestion of dusty air by the engine. The Sterrato employs a 5.2-liter V10 (602 hp, 413 lb-ft) whose output is directed through a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission to an all-wheel drive system with a locking rear differential. For tires, Bridgestone developed 19-inch Dueler AT002 run flats exclusively for this weird, supercar all-terrain application. Here’s the 0-60 time (0-60 MPH: 3.4 sec). Here’s the top speed (Top Speed: 161 MPH). And here’s the price tag (Base Price: $273,177 plus dest). That’s probably enough details for now. I’m sure you’re wondering what the Huracan Sterrato is like to drive. To be clear, the ride is objectively firm, especially over chattery tarmac. But among supercars, the Sterrato’s road manners are perfectly tolerable. Still feels like driving a Huracan…a Raptor this is not. But exuding supercar vibes at comparatively casual street speeds is the easy part. Does the Huracan Sterrato fall apart on a racetrack? No, it does not. You might not expect it but, on tarmac, the Bridgestone Dueler tires offer plenty of grip for a good time. Even better, when you exceed their limits, the tires slip in a very controllable way. Some supercars are scary to drive quickly. The Sterrato is not. Sure, an Huracan on race tires would be faster around a racetrack. But would it be more fun? I’m doubtful. The Sterrato might be dirt-capable, but it still does all the things you’d like an Huracan to do on a track. It corners swiftly, it brakes hard, and it sounds brilliant. By the way, I kind of expected the track and dirt drives to be separate events. They were not. Like a proper rally stage, Lamborghini combined multiple surfaces into a single event. Let’s carry on. Rally mode smartly apportions torque via the all-wheel drive system to help sustain power-on drifts both mid-corner and when exiting. And the mode allows plenty of slip angle on corner entry, for those of us who use a rally-style left foot braking technique to set up our turns. Do you think I’m having fun? You guys, I’m having fun!!! And this is the moment, it all came together for me. If you feel differently that’s ok but I’ve been reviewing cars for a long time and, honestly, the concept of “automobile as status object” is dead for me. For better or worse, my sense of self-worth isn’t going to improve with Lambo keys in my pocket. okk But using a car to facilitate fun, novel experiences…oh, now we’re talking. You’re leaving a lot of joy on the table if buy an Huracan Sterrato just to inspire envy in strangers. Recasting a super car as rally car is a ludicrous idea…and I adore it. The Sterrato isn’t just fast. It is fun. Like…stupid fun. In the interest of objectivity, I should dig up some criticism. Uh…let’s see. Oh, the position of the drive mode selector makes it hard to quickly change modes while driving. One more…uh…got it. They’re only making 1,500 of these things. Around 500 are coming to America. And they’re pretty much already sold out. Also, even if the Sterrato weren’t sold out, I still couldn’t afford one. With those manufactured complaints lodged, I’m going to wrap with this. Admiration is fleeting. But deeply engaged play, like what you can do flinging the Lamborghini Huracan Sterrato around on dirt…that’s the kind of joy that endures. I will never have the funds to buy a Lamborghini Huracan Sterrato. But if I did, I’d buy one in an instant. And I would drive the piss out of it. 00:00 2023 Lamborghini Sterrato 0:14 Exterior 1:07 Engine 1:28 Price 1:35 Driving Impressions
