If you listen to the original disco mix and instrumental neither had an intro or outro. Plus the Disco mix had so much guff in the middle it meandered all over the place. So what I wanted to do was make it DJ friendly and tighten up the mix and make it punchier. Locked to the original 131 bpm in Cubase and then tightened up in Ableton. After importing both mixes back into Cubase I set about manually building a DJ friendly mix that kept the spirit of the original but without the fluff and guff of the original! If that makes sense! With some additional digital re-editing for drama and FX. Some of the edits and cross fades were insane but they made the edits work and flow better. I hope you will enjoy the result! In my opinion none of the original mixes were structured well and they were highly "UNDJ Freindly" ! Well now using a drum sample from another Bobby O production for authenticity I present you with a now completley DJ Friendly mix and pumped up slightly to give it a lift to 122bpm. I hope you like it! Some background information. The longer epic remix is what I based most of the mix on. However there were parts of the original mix, especially on the intro and outro. But I cut it all up in bits and ran different parts from the two mixes along with a drum loop from Calling All Boys (which is present throughout the mix) to create the DJ friendly intro and outro. The heavy bass riff that finished the long remix gave me the opportunity to create a dropout just before the mix out point. This made it feel a bit more "modern"! A few backward beats here and there and repeated choruses where there was only one on the original mix made sense to me too. Oh and what on earth was Bobby O thinking when changes that would normally fall on the bar were half way through or just a beat late! She’d previously released I Need A Man twice but this is equally memorable! If you listen to the original disco mix and instrumental neither had an intro or outro. Plus the Disco mix had so much guff in the middle it meandered all over the place. So what I wanted to do was make it DJ friendly and tighten up the mix and make it punchier. Locked to the original 131 bpm in Cubase and then tightened up in Ableton. After importing both mixes back into Cubase I set about manually building a DJ friendly mix that kept the spirit of the original but without the fluff and guff of the original! If that makes sense! With some additional digital re-editing for drama and FX. Some of the edits and cross fades were insane but they made the edits work and flow better. I hope you will enjoy the result! The original (listen to the video above for reference!) was vocal heavy at the beginning with a meandering instrumental later on around the middle of the track. What I wanted to do was break up the vocal parts and flesh out the missing instrumental parts to let the lyrics breathe a little. I have to give props to the re-editor from Hot Tracks as even doing this digitally was a head scratcher at times due to a lot of the special edits having to be made midway through the bar! I can imagine it was a real head masher with reel to reel tape! I hope you like it!

··· ··· ··· ··· This took me simply ages to beat correct in Ableton Live! In my opinion none of the original mixes were structured well and they were highly "UNDJ Freindly" ! Well now using a drum sample from another Bobby O production for authenticity I present you with a now completley DJ Friendly mix and pumped up slightly to give it a lift to 122bpm. I hope you like it! Some background information. The longer epic remix is what I based most of the mix on. However there were parts of the original mix, especially on the intro and outro. But I cut it all up in bits and ran different parts from the two mixes along with a drum loop from Calling All Boys (which is present throughout the mix) to create the DJ friendly intro and outro. The heavy bass riff that finished the long remix gave me the opportunity to create a dropout just before the mix out point. This made it feel a bit more "modern"! A few backward beats here and there and repeated choruses where there was only one on the original mix made sense to me too. Oh and what on earth was Bobby O thinking when changes that would normally fall on the bar were half way through or just a beat late! Normally I use the arranger track in Cubase to structure the mix but this was all edited and put together painstakingly by hand!
