The article states that Tatsuo Shimabuku studied with Miyagi Chojun for 3 years before he founded Goju-Ryu. The article states that Tatsuo Shimabuku studied with Miyagi Chojun for 3 years before he founded Goju-Ryu. It's quite possible that the version we do of Seiunchin Kata is the way Miyagi Sensei was teaching it at that time.
