··· ··· ··· ··· Xiaopei Chinese Dance ended their 2022-2023 School Year with a splendid showcase on Saturday May 13, 2023. The Showcase featured 33 dances in a variety of dance genres including Chinese Classical, Chinese Folkloric, Ballet, and Modern, as well as 9 lovely and talented soloists. What made this year’s Showcase extra special was that not only were we able to recognize another year of excellence for Xiaopei Chinese Dance, but we also were able to celebrate Mother’s Day with all Xiaopei Chinese Dance families and friends! We are so proud of the efforts and progress of our amazing and hardworking students! They were so beautiful on the stage, even the little ones who were on stage for the first time! We truly appreciate the talent and dedication of our wonderful teachers, and recognize the contributions of our extended family of devoted and enthusiastic parents and volunteers! ··· ··· ··· ··· In 2020 the world was tossed upside-down, and we were shut down 10 days before our 2020 showcase. Along with the world we have experienced the most challenging time. But we remained united as a studio! We learned from one another, we grew together, and we came back stronger. Here’s a glance at what we have been up to since 2020: ZOOM dance classes for all ages and levels, and we completed 14 short dance routines. 人间月,山鬼, 扇伶, 月鸣沙, 繁花, 牧羊姑娘, 云间路, 芳华, 九儿, 滚滚红尘, 红莓花儿开, 人生若只如初见, 阿里郎, 茉莉花. We lost our old studio and looking for a new studio was a very difficult journey. We almost gave up, but we didn't. We borrowed studios and kept our solo classes and, more importantly, kept our spirits up. We recorded dances for many online events, especially for the Spring Festival Performances. We completed four successful and productive Summer Camps in 2021. We finally re-opened for in-person classes in August 2021 in our new studio. We continued to contribute to community cultural events and celebrations. We harvested our hard work with awards at many dance competitions. And now, it's time to celebrate!

Host Andre Senior said, “Members of US Chinese Dance Association, Huaxing Arts Group San Francisco, are some of the most well known ambassadors of Chinese culture, their performances encourage Chinese and Asian Americans to be proud of their cultural identity, traditions and values, and wish you joy, prosperity and good fortune in the Year of the Ox! Here now is the US Chinese Dance Association, Huaxing Arts Group San Francisco!" The red ribbon leading dancer is Ms. Eva Xin Wang, the newly promoted Artistic Director of Xiaopei Chinese Dance, and the two Kung Fu masters are Zhenglong Yu and Li Xiao from Kung Fu Dragon USA. 13:: WeShine World Dance Competition 2020 Highlights

··· ··· ··· ··· The USCDA “2020 WeShine” Dance Competition was a success as we took the event online due to COVID-19 pandemic. We received numerous entries from dancers and dance groups from far and wide, who ordinarily would not have been able to bear the expense to attend and compete in person. Almost 600 amateur and professional contestants from all over, including China, Germany, Brazil, Singapore, Russia, and many US states, sent in videos of their performances. Some were previously recorded (pre-Covid-19), including at other dance competitions, and some were recorded this year in “safely distanced” studios or homes. With so many videos to review, the judges — renowned professionals in the US and China — needed weeks to review and evaluate and score. Here are highlights from some amazing entries. The mission of Xiaopei Chinese Dance is to provide professional and authentic dance classes and programs; to showcase and promote the splendid Chinese culture through dance; and to develop and train talented, strong, graceful, and confident students and dancers.
