Il giovane Roberto è più volte sul punto di abbandonare Bruno, ma sia il caso, sia una certa inconfessabile attrazione, mascherata da una certa arrendevolezza, tengono unita l'assortita coppia di amici occasionali, in un viaggio che diventa per Roberto anche un percorso di iniziazione alla vita. Egli infatti si allontana dai miti e dai timori giovanili e inizia la rilettura delle proprie relazioni familiari, dell'amore e dei rapporti sociali, sino alla tragica conclusione che si materializza durante l'ennesimo sorpasso avventato: per evitare l'impatto frontale con un camion, Bruno sterza violentemente e finisce per urtare un paracarro. Nell'impatto, Bruno viene sbalzato fuori dall'auto riuscendo così a salvarsi, mentre Roberto perde la vita finendo in una scarpata. Agli agenti intervenuti Bruno confesserà , dato il tempo limitato trascorso con il ragazzo, di non conoscerne neppure il cognome.

Der Originaltitel des Spielfilms bezeichnet wörtlich „Das Überholen“. Am ursprünglich von Ettore Scola und Ruggero Maccari verfassten Drehbuch schrieb auch der Regisseur des Films, Dino Risi, mit. Vittorio Gassman und Jean-Louis Trintignant spielen zwei charakterlich grundverschiedene Männer. Aus ihrer Gegensätzlichkeit erwächst ein Humor, der mit einer tiefen Tragik grundiert ist. Das Werk porträtiert Italien auf dem Höhepunkt des Wirtschaftswunders in der Nachkriegszeit, seinen Wandel zu einer Konsumgesellschaft sowie das Bröckeln althergebrachter Vorstellungen von Ehe, Familie und des Patriarchats. Dopo la telefonata, Bruno chiede a Roberto di fargli compagnia: i due, sulla spinta dell'esuberanza e dell'invadenza di Bruno, intraprendono un viaggio in auto lungo la via Aurelia, a velocità sostenuta, che li porta in direzione della Toscana, a Castiglioncello, raggiungendo mete occasionali sempre più distanti. Durante il viaggio verso il nord e verso il mare, arrivano anche a far visita ad alcuni parenti di Roberto, prima, e alla figlia e all'ex-moglie di Bruno, poi.
Il giovane Roberto è più volte sul punto di abbandonare Bruno, ma sia il caso, sia una certa inconfessabile attrazione, mascherata da una certa arrendevolezza, tengono unita l'assortita coppia di amici occasionali, in un viaggio che diventa per Roberto anche un percorso di iniziazione alla vita. Egli infatti si allontana dai miti e dai timori giovanili e inizia la rilettura delle proprie relazioni familiari, dell'amore e dei rapporti sociali, sino alla tragica conclusione che si materializza durante l'ennesimo sorpasso avventato: per evitare l'impatto frontale con un camion, Bruno sterza violentemente e finisce per urtare un paracarro. Nell'impatto, Bruno viene sbalzato fuori dall'auto riuscendo così a salvarsi, mentre Roberto perde la vita finendo in una scarpata. Agli agenti intervenuti Bruno confesserà, dato il tempo limitato trascorso con il ragazzo, di non conoscerne neppure il cognome.

Mit seinem vierten Film begründete er seinen internationalen Ruhm, machte seine Ehefrau Giulietta Masina bekannt und schuf den Begriff Zampano. Es ist Fellinis letzter Film im Genre des italienischen Neorealismus und ist zugleich eines seiner wohl angesehensten Werke. La strada hatte Premiere am 6. September 1954 in Venedig
Zampanò, ein grobschlächtiger Schausteller, zeigt auf Marktplätzen immer dieselbe Nummer: Kraftvoll sprengt er eine Eisenkette, die seinen Brustkorb umschließt. Für diese Vorstellung braucht der Zampanò eine Assistentin, doch seine Frau Rosa – die bisherige Assistentin – ist gestorben. So kauft er Rosas bettelarmer Mutter für 10.000 Lire die naive Tochter Gelsomina ab und nimmt sie mit auf seine Tournee. Gelsomina tritt als Clown auf – mit Gesten, die an Charlie Chaplin erinnern. Doch Zampanò behandelt seine Assistentin schlecht. Dennoch bleibt sie bei ihm – schließlich ist sie ja auch völlig von ihm abhängig. Das ungleiche Paar nächtigt entweder in Zampanòs motorradgezogenem Planwagen, in Ställen oder unter freiem Himmel. Gelsomina hat zu warten, während Zampanò sich ab und zu mit Frauen vergnügt.

In pre-Revolution Paris, the Marquise de Merteuil plots revenge against her ex-lover, the Comte de Bastide, who recently ended their relationship. To soothe her wounded pride and embarrass Bastide, she seeks to arrange the seduction and disgrace of his young virgin fiancée, Cécile de Volanges, who has only recently been presented to society after spending her formative years in the shelter of a convent.
Merteuil calls on the similarly unprincipled Vicomte de Valmont, another ex-lover of hers, to do the deed. Valmont declines, as he is plotting to seduce Madame de Tourvel, the wife of a member of Parliament away in Burgundy and a current houseguest of Valmont's aunt, Madame de Rosemonde. Amused and incredulous at Valmont's hubris in pursuing the chaste, devoutly religious Tourvel, Merteuil ups the ante: if Valmont somehow succeeds in seducing Tourvel and can furnish written proof, Merteuil will sleep with him as well. Never one to refuse a challenge, Valmont accepts.
Tourvel rebuffs all of Valmont's advances. Searching for leverage, he instructs his page Azolan to seduce Tourvel's maid Julie and gain access to Tourvel's private correspondence. One of the letters intercepted is from Cécile's mother and Merteuil's cousin, Madame de Volanges, warning Tourvel that Valmont is nefarious and untrustworthy. Valmont resolves to seduce Cécile as revenge for her mother's accurate denunciation of him.

One year later, Dexter helps Emma move to London to become a writer. Finding little success by 1990, she ends up a waitress in a Mexican restaurant, where she meets Ian, an aspiring comedian. Meanwhile, Dexter travels the world, staying in touch. He visits her on 15 July 1991 and suggests they take a holiday. They go to France in 1992; despite their mutual attraction, Emma turns down Dexter's advances. By 1993, Dexter is a successful television presenter with a raucous late-night show.

When a flying saucer lands in Washington, D.C., the United States Army quickly surrounds it. A humanoid emerges and announces that he comes "in peace and with good will". When he unexpectedly opens a small device, he is shot and wounded by a nervous soldier. A tall robot emerges from the saucer and quickly disintegrates the Army's weapons. The alien orders the robot, Gort, to desist. He explains that the now-broken device was a gift for the President of the United States that would have enabled him "to study life on the other planets".

Months later, he discovers that he appears to be shrinking. By the time Scott has reached the height of a small boy, his condition becomes known to the public. When he learns there is no cure for his condition, he lashes out at his wife. As Scott shrinks to the point he can fit into a doll house, he has a battle with his family cat, which leaves him lost and alone in his basement, where he is now smaller than the average insect.
