The Subbuteo World Cup is taking place in Royal Tunbridge Wells, which is where the game was invented back in 1946 by Peter Adolph. Popular in the 1970s and 80s, the table-top game sees competitors take turns to flick miniature models of football players around a replica stadium in an attempt to push a ball into a goal. More than 26 nations are expected to be represented at the event and hoping to impress from Derry City Table Football Club are Martin Óg Bradley, Oisín Mór and Lawrence Watson./media:description> media:community> media:starRating count="9" average="5.00" min="1" max="5"/> media:statistics views="704"/> /media:community> /media:group> /entry> entry> id>yt:video:X4Bq28O9XS0/id> yt:videoId>X4Bq28O9XS0/yt:videoId> yt:channelId>UCNaWa-jK5ehH0od-KiGNeDw/yt:channelId> title>It's 'crazy' to use sunbeds - skin cancer expert/title> link rel="alternate" href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X4Bq28O9XS0"/> author> name>BBC News NI/name> uri>https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCNaWa-jK5ehH0od-KiGNeDw/uri> /author> published>2024-06-14T14:24:54+00:00/published> updated>2024-09-24T10:03:18+00:00/updated> media:group> media:title>It's 'crazy' to use sunbeds - skin cancer expert/media:title> media:content url="https://www.youtube.com/v/X4Bq28O9XS0?version=3" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="640" height="390"/> media:thumbnail url="https://i1.ytimg.com/vi/X4Bq28O9XS0/hqdefault.jpg" width="480" height="360"/> media:description>An Australian dermatologist has warned sunbed users that they are paying money for a service that will significantly increase their risk of developing skin cancer. Anthony McCormack, chair of the Glenavy Conservation and Anglers Club, told BBC News NI the "normally sparkling clear" river turned brown on Wednesday evening. He said the fish were "struggling to breathe" in the effluent and he fears for the health of the river which stretches to Lough Neagh. Sinead Buckley's mother left her home in the Republic of Ireland in 1972 to have her baby in Northern Ireland, due to the fear and stigma of being recognised as an unmarried mother. After the birth, an Irish adoption agency arranged for Ms Buckley to be adopted by a Dublin family and she grew up in the Irish capital, never meeting her mother nor knowing much about her birth family. This week, the Irish government will begin the process of compensating former residents of mother and baby homes. But it only applies to women and children who spent time in homes in the Republic of Ireland - Irish residents who were sent to homes in Northern Ireland are not eligible for payment. Dr Neill, who works at Daisy Hill Hospital in Newry, said it was "difficult to hear" stories from colleagues about how they wished to leave the profession. The Department of Health said industrial action "will inevitably exacerbate the already severe pressures on our health service". It said it is committed "to further engagement with the BMA Junior Doctors Committee on pay, contract reform and other issues". He told the House of Lords there has been an "abject failure by state officials and agencies" to release information on killings despite orders from a coroner. The new law will replace Troubles inquests with investigations into deaths by the Independent Commission for Reconciliation and Information Recovery (ICRIR). Perpetrators who co-operate with the ICRIR will be offered immunity from prosecution which critics have said is a denial of justice for bereaved families. The government introduced the law in a bid to an attempt to draw a line under the events of the past. But Lord Hain asked if families denied proper inquests will "have to make do with a vastly inferior process on the cheap?" Marjorie and Michael Cawdery were killed in their Portadown home in 2017 by Thomas Scott McEntee, shortly after he walked out of Craigavon Area Hospital. McEntee, who was suffering from paranoid schizophrenia, had been taken to hospital after his behaviour caused police concern for a number of days in Belfast, Newry and Warrenpoint. Charles Little, who led the family's campaign to expose the failings of the health service and PSNI response, has consistently pointed out that McEntee had tried to access mental health services several times without success.
