This album literally changed my life and I have listened to it countless times, each time feeling like the first again. And for DLR to drop this album on our lap, in Spanish??!! Dude, cmon now- EPIC!
With the guitar howling by Vai, the bass notes dancing on Billy’s fretboard, Gregg’s blasting of the heavy artillery, to the Greatest Frontman of All Time giving us pure rock with that iconic rockstar voice and persona. This album is LEGENDARY!
To myself and all DLR fans, it would be a dream for this incredible debut solo album to be remastered and re-released. Can’t tell you how much I love this album, so, in typical fashion of me, I decided to create a possible concept of what could be an incredible re-release/remaster on Vinyl. This album and incredible band deserves the recognition!
P.S.- I claim dibs on the very first one off the lot, Heck, maybe even signed too. Hey, you never know…

However, it is the end result from that invested time that pays off in the end. Some say that it takes 10,000 hours to become a Master at a skill. So get after it!
This short animation is based off David Lee Roth’s first Sumi-e “training” lesson he experienced while studying the art form abroad in Japan. It was first mentioned on the Joe Rogan podcast a few years ago and its quite hilarious. The music is also a recording DLR did several years back with the Kabuki Orchestra.

7:: David Lee Roth - “Let’s Take A Ride”

This song is a vibe, so you know I had to pair it up somehow with David Lee Roth’s 51’ Mercury, which I absolutely love. Its a chill and laid back short animation to this gem of a song by the Diamond.
In addition, the bass line needed just a bit of a touch up, so I played and added in some minor fills to the already existing bass line to give it a bit more “groove”. Some hammer-ons and small bits here and there if you listen closely ;)

8:: David Lee Roth - Custom Funko Pop (Demo)
01.01.1970 · 01:00:00 ··· 06.04.2023 · 16:58:43 ··· ··· ··· ··· ··· ··· Funko Pop- These little figures are quite popular these days, having a wide array of characters in their library ranging from Pixar, TV and Movie characters, to Famous Rockstars. But there was something missing from the entire Funko library. Something that is well deserving to be in there: The Legend himself- David Lee Roth.
So of course, I took it upon myself to make a version (California Girls).
This involved kit bashing 5 different figures, modifying/sanding the head sculpt and body, custom bow-tie, shoe gems, etc. The skin tone was a pain to get right, but it came out good. Once I got the first version (white) right, I made a second (orange).
A couple more of these are in the works, Van Halen Era Dave, Solo Era Dave, etc.

01.01.1970 · 01:00:00 ··· 09.09.2022 · 18:35:13 ··· ··· ··· ··· ··· ··· The famous “Piper Club” incident, where David Lee Roth went face first into a Mirrorball that was accidentally lowered more than usual while doing his splits in Rome, Italy (1980).
I decided to bring this incident to life by animating it since there is no footage yet to be seen of it. The illustrations and animation took about 2 or so months to make because I only do this on my spare time a few hours a day here and there, and I wanted to portray the story just right, with just enough of Dave’s humor alongside his voice as the narrator of the incident.

As a type of personal toast to an incredible career, I wanted to keep the original feel of David’s art style, while adding my own original illustrations and style in it as well. This setting takes place at none other than the “TheMojoDojo”.
You will notice some notable “Dave” faces, ranging from the Van Halen days, to EEAS, and even the DLR Band/Diamond Dave times. Can you spot them all?

To look at a single frame image and try to figure out the possible potential movements of a character(s) is something that is challenging yet fulfilling. When adding motion and music, it brings the scene to life. You also have to think like the original artist(David Lee Roth) so that there is a smooth and original flow of the imagery being portrayed. It’s all about keeping the same feel.
