I just love the sound of those synths, David Sylvian's vocals and the late great Mick Karn's bass playing.
It was intended to be the title track of Japan's third album and Sylvian intended to record it with disco producer Giorgio Moroder. However, this did not happen as Moroder preferred the song Life in Tokyo.
It was first released in Japan as the B-side of the single "I Second That Emotion" and on the Canadian Special Edition EP. In 1981 it was released as the B-side of the UK single "Life in Tokyo" and was included on the album Assemblage.
Later on in January 1982 a version remixed by Steve Nye was released as a single and became a hit reaching no 31 in the UK Charts.
It's a shame there was never an official video for the song so I decided to make one simply using a clip of the band performing the song live in Japan in 1979. It wasn't easily syncing the clip up with the studio version of the song I had to speed up and slow down the video a little especially with the chorus parts as in the clip David Sylvian was singing it a little differently.

In addition to being issued as a 7-inch single with a live version of the Cure’s earlier single "Killing an Arab" on the B-side it was also released in a deluxe edition known as A Single, formatted both as a gatefold double pack of 7-inch singles with a total of four tracks, and also as a 10-inch EP including a live recording of “Killing An Arab” and the studio version of "A Forest" from the group’s second album.
Whilst recording the album the sessions saw the band on the brink of collapse, with heavy drug use, band in-fighting, and frontman Robert Smith's depression fueling the album's musical and lyrical content.
It reached no 34 in the charts but I think it's a cracking single I love Robert Smith's distinctive vocals and Simon Gallop's bass playing.
Here's a clip of the band performing or should I say miming the song on French TV Show Generation 80' in the 1982 I synced up to the full stereo track.
I like Robert Smith's mad looking makeup in this appearance.

After walking the Alice ride I got treated to exclusive ride time on my favourite ride ever The Ghost Train.
Here's an updated POV of the ride with the new scenes in action which are absolutely fantastic! Compared to my previous POV in 2022 it certainly has changed a lot now especially the facade looking all painted up and the old Tangerine Dream track "Impressions of Sorcerer" with sound effects that used to play inside the ride that had been replaced with much scarier music.
I do miss the exterior music that used to play outside the ride beckoning the riders to come inside for a journey into the unknown!
I cannot wait to see what they're going to do the ride next? Maybe more new scenes maybe added?

media:description>On Saturday 14th September I attend Pleasure Beach Resort's 2nd Fan Club event for this year Curiouser and Curiouser which involved walking through their historic and iconic ride Alice In Wonderland.
It was really interesting seeing all the beautiful and colourful scenes inside the ride upclose and even spotting some bits that I never noticed on the ride before.
Throughout the winter period this year they have given the ride a lot of TLC by repainting and restoring some of the scenes in the ride making them much more vibrant and better.
At the end of the tour we were also given exclusive ride time on the Ghost Train and we were also treated to some tea and cakes at the bar underneath the Flying Machines.
Here's some photos I took whilst walking through the ride apologies if some don't come out as great it was hard walking and taking pictures at the same time.
I also added the soundtrack that plays inside the ride which is I've Got A Golden Ticket from Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory and the Cuckoo Waltz that plays outside the ride to give you a little experience.

It was such a fantastic day despite the weather being so wet and rainy that didn't ruin it though. I'd say the highlights for me were seeing Paul Heaton, Gabrielle, Sister Sledge and the Pet Shop Boys who were awesome!
I sadly didn't get as much footage due to how bad the weather was but I enjoyed filming some of it.

My mum loved him as Terence Trent D'Arby back in the eighties he had some really good songs from his back then best selling album Introducing The Hardline According To like If You Let Me Stay, Wishing Well and the funky sounding Dance Little Sister.
The fourth single Sign Your Name I admire the most as his soulful sweet voice really stands out on this song and it's a nice song to chill to.
It reached number two on the UK charts in early 1988 and number four on the US Billboard Hot 100.
Here's a Top Of The Pops appearance of him performing the song I had noticed in the original clip the mix of the song sounds a little different I think it's mainly the backing vocals must have been re-recorded for that performance?

If anyone could tell me what tune the organ is playing that would be grateful I know it’s hard to hear due to the ride in action plus they pause the organ when the safety announcements start as well but they seem to now let it carry on playing.
One of the only three in the world the ride is essentially a large carousel with 56 horses in four rows the outside row being the fastest.
As the ride rotates the horses move up and down simulating an action packed race.
The organ is a 72 Key Verbeeck which plays on an endless book of music.
I sadly didn't get any footage of the other Verbeeck a small 52 key at the Gallopers ride over near the Big One./media:description>
