This cool event took place in the famous @ORWOhaus here in my home district Berlin-Marzahn. First I played my own and still not released composition "The Silence of Truth". Second I played one of my crazy funny long medleys. 😁 Thanks for organising this event to Alex Lohse and Pascal Matheja for bringing me here. DEUTSCH: Alles Gute dir Bernd zum 80.! Anlässlich von und zu Bernd Höhnes großen Jubiläums veranstalteten junge Bands und Musiker hier in der Region explizit für Bernd einen ganz eigenen und besonderen Bandabend im @ORWOhaus hier in Berlin-Marzahn. Also bei mir um die Ecke, in dem Bezirk, in dem ich auch lebe und aufgewachsen bin. Auch ich bekam einen Slot von etwa 15 Minuten und kostete ihn super aus. 😁 Zuerst spielte ich meine eigene, aber noch nicht veröffentlichte Komposition "The Silence of Truth". Als Zweites dann eines meiner beliebten und bekannten Medleys. Der legendäre WEIHNACHTSZUG 🚆 der Berliner S-Bahn des Vereins Historische S-Bahn e.V. @historisches-bahn-e.v. konnte nach 15 Jahren Stillstand wieder fahren. Und wie! Durch viele, enorm viele fleißige Hände besonders in der Instandhaltung und Pflege des Zugs konnte dieses rein ehrenamtliche Projekt überhaupt erst existieren und zum Erfolg gebracht werden. Alles aus eigener Kraft. Sowohl physisch als auch finanziell. "Das Gelbe Klavier" – The Yellow Piano 💛🎹 is a piano installation for the pianist Alon Ohel, who was abducted and kidnapped from the Hamas terrorists. Nobody knows if he's alive or not. The absurdity: it could have been me – me as a human and pianist, who has been there at that same horrible time. Because I WAS there too (from October 3rd to 13th) in Israel with my mother and just made holidays in Tel Aviv and Jerusalem. And visited some people of my also Jewish family.. Also fhe famous pianist Igor Levit played here at the first day, when the piano opened for just some days. Everybody can play and set an example for the liberation of Alon Ohel and for the condemnation of the barbaric act of terror by Hamas, which unfortunately many Palestinians supported in retrospect. I find that sad, and also that open anti-Semitism is increasing around the world and again here in Germany and is being shown without inhibition. So, I decided to play something personal. And played one of my newest and emotional compositions: DRIED TEARS. So auch bei der noch in diesen letzten Tagen verkehrenden Berliner S-Bahn-Baureihe der @sbahnberlin GmbH: die noch in der DDR gebaute Baureihe BR 485. Die von ihren Fans auch liebevoll "Coladose" genannt wird, durch ihren Wagenkasten aus Aluminium (ähnlich wie bei einer Coladose eben), aber noch viel mehr aufgrund ihrer vergangenen anthrazit-roten Farbgebung, die sie noch bis 2008 hatte und die stark nach der eines Brauseherstellers glich. Eben jene Baureihe BR 485 (ET 270) wird am 12. November zu ihrem letzten Dienst hier in Berlin antreten zu einer dann nochmal großen Sternfahrt auf mehreren Streckenästen, wo sie vormals ihre Haupteinsatzzeit über 35 Jahre verbracht hat. Und weil ich viele viele Jahre in diesen Zügen verbracht habe und unterwegs war, mit ihr zu Auftritten gefahren bin – denn ich vorwiegend alles mit der Bahn und dem ÖPNV erledige – wollte ich mich mit meinem ersten und auch letzten S-Bahn-Konzert in diesen Fahrzeugen ganz persönlich verabschieden. ♥︎ Danke für viele Begegnungen und schöne Stunden in diesen Zügen, die hier in Berlin von 1987 bis 2023 verkehrten und ihre Dienste leisteten. Ein Triebwagen (Kopf des Zuges) wird dem Verein 'Historische S-Bahn e.V.' erhalten bleiben. Ein weiterer steht schon im @DeutschesTechnikmuseum und wird dort in Zukunft in die Ausstellung integriert und dort zu sehen sein. Am 12. November findet nun die Verabschiedung mit einer Abschiedsveranstaltung statt. Ab diesem Tag werden die letzten Züge ausgemustert und leider verschrottet. Sie sind dann nicht mehr im S-Bahnnetz anzutreffen und durch neuere Bahnen ersetzt. In diesem Beitrag ging es neben meiner Person und mein Tun und Machen mit den Open Pianos auf aller Welt auch um das Thema Nachbarschaft und soziale Projekte hier bei mir im Bezirk Berlin Marzahn-Hellersdorf. In dem ich ja bekanntermaßen aufgewachsen und sehr eng verwurzelt bin. Als Botschafter für den oft immer in Verruf geratenen schwierigen Bezirk bin ich jedoch selbstbewusst und gerne für meine Heimat hier unterwegs und stehe dafür auch ein, dass das Stigma, welches dem Bezirk leider oft widerfährt und erleidet, eben nicht immer stimmt. I was from October, 3th to 13th in the holy land of Israel 🇮🇱 and Palestine 🇵🇸. Exactly in this moment and days, where the war starts and the terror organisation Hamas did the terrible attack to kill a lot of people in Israel and a music festival with a lot of young people. But also, I found in these days a lot of nice free open and public pianos here. First day after the terror attack (October, 7th) I had such a wonderful walk on October, 8th through the old city of Jerusalem and also East-Jerusalem on the famous Mount of Olives. There was a little church. ⛪️ The Catholic "Dominus Flevit Church" where we get in and look: there was an E-Piano. So I started to play with a guy who played there before. Torbjørn Lending. Together we played "Time" from the movie Inception, composed by Hans Zimmer. And afterwards I played Hallelujah. And then... all the guests here sang this song with me. ❤️ Maybe you saw also my last published videos from Israel in this time. 🎹 Hope for better times. Now, the situation has unfortunately changed dramatically for the worse. Israel and Palestine cannot get their decades-simmering conflict under control. Am 24. September 2021 heiratete mein Schulkumpel Sebastian Bäsche seine Freundin Lisa, die den Wunsch hatten, ihre Trauung in dieser schönen brandenburgischen Dorfkirche Wulkow, was zur Gemeinde Neuhardenberg gehört, durchzuführen. Gewünscht wurde sich unter anderem All of me von @johnlegend. Dieses Stück liegt mir wirklich sehr am Herzen! Als ich es in Wien an einem Open Piano das erste Mal gespielt und improvisiert hatte, ist es einfach wie aus mir herausgeflossen. Die Improvisation war nahezu eine fertige Komposition. Es war verrückt, denn so etwas hatte ich noch nie, dass gleich beim ersten Versuch einer Improvisation etwas so Magisches entsteht. Und man meinen konnte, das Stück wäre schon vor diesem ersten Mal Spielen geschrieben worden. Ich fand meine Idee so gut, dass ich nur wenige Monate später ins Tonstudio, die Emil Berliner Studios, ging und meine Idee für immer gefestigt hatte. Ich habe die russische Hymne früher oft und gerne gespielt, weil sie rein von der musikalischen Komposition und Sichtweise eine unfassbar schöne Melodie hat. Unabhängig davon, für welche politischen Systeme sie schon stand, ergeht es ihr ähnlich der Hymne der Bundesrepublik Deutschland, die ebenso auch Hymne des Deutschen Reichs in der Zeit der Weimarer Republik und der Nationalsozialisten des 3. Reichs unter Adolf Hitler war, wo ihr Text missbraucht und nicht dem, wie der Urheber es gedacht hatte, umgedeutet wurde. Es ist schade, dass so schöne Musikwerke immer im Zeichen politischer Ausnutzung und Kontroversen stehen und damit oft die Kraft der Schönheit der eigentlichen Musikalität verlieren bzw. selten beachtet wird. Die Melodie und Komposition der sowjetischen und russischen Hymne stammt aus dem Jahr 1943 vom russischen Komponisten und Chorleiter 'Alexander Wassiljewitsch Alexandrow', der 1946 in Berlin gestorben ist. Hier seht ihr mich beim 'Open Piano for Refugees' in Stuttgart am öffentlichen Piano spielen. Ich spiele diese Hymne hier nicht zur Unterstützung eines russisch-faschistischen Angriffskrieges eines Diktators auf seine Nachbarländer – sondern gegen! There was in summer 2023 the public piano project KlangRaum Dresden. A very nice socio-economic project without borders for having and making music in a free space. What an incredible achievement! I watched the End of the final show on Saturday night and I felt the winning song "Tattoo" really, really strong and amazing. So it was immediately in my head – Thomas, you have to play this song on the piano immediately! So I had to play this great song at the German street music festival "Buskers Braunschweig – das Straßenmusikfestival der Löwenstadt" 2023 in Brunswick! For what I was here. 😊 So crazy..
