In 1965, he changed his name from Moshe to Mike because it sounded more international. At age 19, he was discovered by the Israeli impresario Yonatan Karmon and left The Chocolates to join Karmon's dance troupe. He toured internationally with Karmon's troupe, participating in shows in the United States, South Africa, and Australia, performing as Michael Sela. His repertoire included Israeli and French songs as well as some American songs, especially by Frank Sinatra. He also gave performances mimicking Charlie Chaplin and Laurel and Hardy. After two years, he left Karmon's troupe and returned to Israel. He performed as a solo artist at the Tel Aviv Hilton and gave shows abroad. In May 1969, Brant performed at the Baccara Club at the Hilton Hotel in Tehran, Iran. A young French singer, Sylvie Vartan, also on the bill, was impressed and urged him to come to Paris. Brant arrived on 9 July 1969. It took ten days to find Vartan but eventually she introduced him to the producer Jean Renard, who had turned Johnny Hallyday into a star. Under Renard's guidance, he changed his surname from Brand to Brant, and recorded his biggest hit, "Laisse-moi t'aimer" ("Let Me Love You"). The song was a success at the Midem music festival in January 1970. "Laisse-moi t'aimer" sold 50,000 copies in two weeks. By 1973, he was giving 250 concerts a year, some attended by 6,000–10,000 people. This went on for two years. He suffered from depression and loneliness, and from the Second Generation Syndrome (family history of the Holocaust), and would alternate, sometimes enjoying life and at other times slipping back into depression. On 22 November 1974, he attempted suicide, jumping out the window of his manager's hotel room in Geneva. He suffered fractures but survived. ··· ··· ··· ··· ~ 溫馨提示 : 觀看文字時請按 "停" 一次、然後再按一次，或調教去片速度，以方便閱讀。~ 🌼 . 一代宗師留給我們的香港心事：四十年前失明藝人杜煥 "唉！世人不能半站中途將人拋棄呀，故此同到香港。 幾多，幾多艱苦咁至捱得有幾個月長。" 瞽師杜煥，自小被同行稱「阿拐」，或尊稱「拐師傅」，是粵廣府方言地水南音的一代宗師，香港的文化瑰寶，二十世紀突出的民間藝人。他1910年出生於廣東肇慶，1979年在香港逝世。今年(2019)是他辭世四十週年。 地水南音：瀕臨失傳的廣東說唱曲藝，上世紀流行於珠江三角洲，於2017念列入「香港非物質文化遺產代表作名錄」，演唱者一般為盲人，多數邊彈琴邊唱，瞽師杜煥是南音一代宗師，其逝世後，南音成為絕響。 煙斗與茶：1975，上環現場 杜煥一生際遇坎坷，三個月大時失明，因家境貧寒，年幼就被雙親送去學藝，隨師傅流浪。十六歲輾轉經石岐和澳門來到香港賣唱，在妓寨和煙館都很受歡迎，生活過得不錯；可惜近墨者黑，染上鴉片毒癖。他在香港雖曾遇上紅顔知己，但不久妻子和四名子女相繼逝世；到日本人佔據時期，杜煥歷盡艱辛；光復後，雖曾短暫恢復賣唱生涯，但大眾娛樂急速轉變，南音已變成曲「古」和寡，使他的生活頓成問題。幸好從1955到1970年，杜煥被邀在香港電台唱了十五年南音，生活稍為安定。但是現實的電台，最終還是取消了杜煥的南音節目，逼得他晚年要在街頭賣唱。 自傳式的〈憶往〉不單在文獻上罕有地記錄了一位民間藝人的一生事跡，也是香港1920到1970年代的寫照，從日據、光復，到經濟發展成熟的歷史見證。而更特別之處，〈憶往〉是一位失明藝人「眼中」的香港故事。 我1974至1975年間在香港研究粵劇，認識了杜煥，為了能全面保存他的南音藝術，我(榮鴻曾)安排他在香港上環富隆茶樓演唱及現場錄音。從1975年3月11日至6月26日，每星期二、四、六午膳時間演唱一小時，總共完成了四十二節錄音，共十六首歌曲。曲目除了知名的短曲如〈客途秋恨〉，〈男燒衣〉，〈霸王別姬〉外，也有長篇故事〈梁天來〉和〈武松〉的片段，及中篇的〈失明人杜煥憶往〉、〈大鬧廣昌隆〉和〈觀音出世〉。除此之外也請他唱了幾段龍舟及重唱幾段南音作為以後研究之用。另外在好友西村萬里兄大埔家中杜煥亦唱了兩段板眼。 當年在富隆所錄的短、中篇南音，龍舟，和板眼大部份已面世, 從2007年起，香港中文大學音樂系推出了一糸列名為「香港文化瑰寶」 的唱片，迄今已出版了七集光碟。轉眼今年已是第八集，兩張光碟收錄了尚未發表的中篇南音〈大鬧廣昌隆〉，而出版杜煥說唱藝術的工作到此也告一段落，希望這些資料能引起各界對廣府話說唱藝術和方言文學的注意和欣賞。 (來源 : https://theinitium.com/article/20190216-culture-artist-blindness-to-wun/) .

··· ··· ··· ··· "In the Year 2525" is a 1969 hit song by the American pop-rock duo of Zager and Evans. It reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100 for six weeks commencing July 12, 1969. It peaked at number one in the UK Singles Chart for three weeks in August and September that year. The song was written and composed by Rick Evans in 1964 and originally released on a small regional record label (Truth Records) in 1968. It was later picked up by RCA Records. Zager and Evans disbanded in 1971. Zager and Evans were a one-hit wonder, never releasing another charting single. This occurred in both the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 and the UK Singles Chart and as of 2022, they are the only recording artists ever to have a chart-topping number one hit on both sides of the Atlantic and never have another charting single in the US or the UK for the rest of their career. Their follow-up single on RCA Victor, "Mr. Turnkey", reached number 48 in the Canadian pop charts and number 41 in the Canadian AC chart. Another single, "Listen to the People", managed to make the bottom slot of the Cashbox chart at number 100 and number 96 in Canada. "In the Year 2525" opens with an introductory verse explaining that if mankind has survived to that point, they would witness the subsequent events in the song. The following verses jump the story approximately with 1000-year intervals, specifically 3535, 4545, 5555, 6565, 7510, 8510 and finally 9595. In each succeeding millennium, life becomes increasingly sedentary and automated: thoughts are pre-programmed into pills for people to consume, eyes, teeth, and limbs all lose their purposes due to machines replacing their functions, and marriage becomes obsolete because children are conceived in test tubes. The song ends after 10,000 years. By that time, humans have finally become extinct. But the narrator notes that somewhere "so very far away", possibly in an alternative universe, the scenarios told in the song have still yet to play out, as the song repeats from the top (but in the same key, tone, and speed as the previous verse) and the recording fades out. The overriding theme, of a world doomed by its passive acquiescence to and over dependence on its own overdone technologies, all while neglecting the unchecked exploitation of the Earth, struck a resonant chord in millions of people around the world in the late 1960s. The song has been covered at least 60 times in seven languages, including a Jewish parody recorded by Country Yossi, and an Italian version recorded by Zager and Evans called "Nell'Anno 2033". It was included in a Clear Channel memorandum, distributed by Clear Channel Communications to every radio station owned by the company, which contained 165 songs considered to be "lyrically questionable" following the September 11, 2001, attacks. Two lines of the song are sung by the inmate Murphy in the 1992 film Alien 3 immediately prior to his death. Brief snippets are played in "The Time Is Now", the second-season finale of the TV show Millennium, which depicts an apocalyptic event. The song was rewritten and used as the introductory theme for the 2000 TV series Cleopatra 2525. In 2010, it was parodied as "In the Year 252525" in the seventh episode of Futurama's sixth season, "The Late Philip J. Fry", as Fry, Professor Farnsworth and Bender travel forwards through time to find a period in which the backwards time machine has been invented. The song acts as an aesthetic theme to the film Gentlemen Broncos. The BBC Radio series 2525, a sketch show set in the year 2525, featured a cover of the song with its first lyric as its introductory theme. ··· ··· ··· ··· MacGregor was born May 6, 1948, in St. Paul, Minnesota, United States. She began studying piano at age six, and was singing with bands by the time she was a teenager. After graduating from Saint Joseph's Academy in 1966, she briefly attended the University of Minnesota, and later began to tour the country with various acts and, in the process, catching the attention of Peter Yarrow from Peter, Paul & Mary. She soon joined Yarrow, singing backup on a solo tour, and made an appearance on his Love Songs album. Signed to Ariola Records America, MacGregor released her debut single, "Torn Between Two Lovers", in late 1976; it became a smash hit by February 1977. The new year saw the single top both the pop and adult contemporary charts and was certified as a gold record. In addition, it reached #3 on Billboard's Country chart and also reached No. 4 on the UK Singles Chart. Two further singles from the album of the same name, also written and produced by Yarrow, charted but were overwhelmed by the success of the title track. MacGregor admitted in The Billboard Book of Number One Hits by Fred Bronson that she hated her own chart-topper, chiefly because she had little sympathy for the narrator of "Torn Between Two Lovers", a woman who confesses to her husband that she is having an affair, but pleads with her husband to stay with her and accept the situation. MacGregor also said that the song indirectly led to the breakup of her own marriage, because her career kept her away from home so often that her relationship with her husband strained, and they decided to separate. She did acknowledge that the song was successful because it appealed to listeners who had found themselves in the situation described in the lyrics. She released several more albums, and had three more minor chart singles (including the song "Good Friend" from the 1979 Bill Murray film Meatballs). "Good Friend" was later added to her third and eponymous final album. In 1980, MacGregor won best song and best performance at the World Popular Song Festival in Tokyo, Japan with "What's the Use" which she had co-written with David Bluefield. For the 1981 Japanese anime film Adieu Galaxy Express 999, MacGregor wrote and performed two songs. They were "Sayonara" and "Love Light". In 1983, Mike Love (of The Beach Boys) and MacGregor performed "Do You Hear What I Hear" from Scrooge's Rock N Roll Christmas. In the mid-1980s, MacGregor performed in nightclubs around the Central Coast of California with Mary and the Blue Jays, a trio composed of MacGregor, James Royce on bass, and Jim Kennedy on guitar. In 1999, she teamed up with fellow musician friends, Joe Ghiglia and John Holt to form The Mary MacGregor Band. The result was an album called Perfect Yellow House. She is also mentioned in the liner notes of 1976's The Steamboat Album as doing vocals for one of the tracks, "Rabbit Ears". The album was recorded by Yampa River Records in Steamboat Springs, Colorado. She now lives in California, has remarried, has two children and is retired.

··· ··· ··· ··· Jean-Michel Delpech (French pronunciation: [26 January 1946 - 2 January 2016), known as Michel Delpech, was a French singer-songwriter and actor. He was born in Courbevoie, France. In 1963, Delpech released his debut hit "Anatole" on Disques Vogue. In 1964, Delpech met Roland Vincent, and a long singing songwriting partnership ensued, with Delpech being signed to Festival French record label. In 1965, he took part in the music comedy Copains Clopant that had a six-month run and made him popular, particularly through his interpretation of "Chez Laurette". He was the opening act for Jacques Brel's goodbye concert at the Paris Olympia. In 1967, he collaborated with Johnny Stark. In 1968, he won the "Grand Prix du Disque" award for "Il y a des jours où on ferait mieux de rester au lit". Then he left Vogue to sign with Barclay Records. At the peak of his success, he recorded "Wight Is Wight" in tribute to the Isle of Wight Festival, a famous rock festival on the Isle of Wight that became his best known song. It sold over one million copies in Europe, and was awarded gold disc status. 'Pour un Flirt' was a second smash hit. It charted in the French-speaking countries around the globe as well in the Netherlands, and a version in German brought him charts success in West Germany, Austria and Switzerland. An English translation, Flirt, made the Top 20 in the UK. The early 1970s brought separation from Johnny Stark for two years, and the end of the long collaboration with Roland Vincent, his first-ever writer. He had some new releases but with limited success. In the 1980s, he enjoyed a comeback and released the album Loin d'ici. A compilation album followed in 1989. He continued releasing albums and making concerts. In December 2006, he released an album of duets Michel Delpech and that topped the French Albums Chart for one week (week of 21–27 January 2007). He also engaged on a French tour. In 1966, he met Chantal Simon whom he married. Later on the couple divorced, and Delpech suffered depression. He searched for relief in religions, mainly Buddhism and later the Catholic faith. In the 1970s, there were also many rumours about attempted suicides, but he denied these rumours in a later biography. In 1983, he met Geneviève Garnier-Fabre, a French artist and they married in 1985. In 1990, he had a son, Emmanuel. He became a talented guitarist and joined his father in his concerts since 2007. In 2007, Pascal Louvrier wrote a biography about him titled Michel Delpech - Mis à Nu published on Editions Perrin. In 2011, he played the role of Françoit Gouriot in Beloved (French title: Les Bien-aimés) In 2011, he was a guest of honor for the sixth season of Âge tendre et Têtes de bois broadcast in France, Belgium and Switzerland. Delpech had long been a heavy smoker, going through a pack of cigarettes daily starting at the age of 18 and quitting only after his diagnosis to throat cancer in 2013.
