It aims to build a world in which conflicts are resolved without resorting to violence. Nine German peace and development organizations run the CPS together with local partners. The Civil Peace Service (CPS) is funded by the German Government. CPS experts support people on the ground in their commitment for dialogue, human rights and peace on a long-term basis. Currently, more than 330 international CPS experts are active in 45 countries.
The Civil Peace Service supports projects aimed at non-violent conflict resolutions in various countries worldwide. It seconds experts to assist local partner organisations. Its objectives are the prevention of violent conflicts, the reduction of violence, and the long-term securing of peace.
CPS cooperates with local partner organisations that
- build structures of cooperation and dialogue across lines of conflict (in doing so also strengthening traditional conflict resolution),
- create meeting points and safe spaces where parties to a conflict can meet,
- strengthen information and communication structures that trace the causes and consequences of violent conflict (including the promotion of peace journalism, the networking of peace-building organisations, and monitoring the development of conflicts),
- provide assistance to groups that are particularly affected by violence and ease their re-integration into society (e.g. by providing counselling and social support for, or working with, traumatised survivors),
- provide assistance and training in methods and concepts of civil conflict resolution,
- devise courses in peace education and in dismantling enemy stereotypes,
- restore confidence in local law and order, and campaign for human rights.
A number of development and peace organisations have joined up to form the Civil Peace Service Consortium. Members of the consortium include non-governmental as well as governmental agencies. The programme is being financed by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ)./media:description>

Letzte Woche fand die sechste jährliche Camel Caravan in den Counties Isiolo, Laikipia and Samburu in Kenia statt. Vier Gruppen von Freiwilligen und Anliegern wanderten über 300km entlang des Ewaso Ng'iro Flusses, um dann gemeinsam in Archers Post zu feiern. Die Caravan brachte über 100 Freiwillige und Anlieger aus über fünf ethnischen Gemeinschaften zusammen. Es wurde über die schwierige Lage entlang des Flusses informiert sowie das friedliche Zusammenleben der ansässigen ethnischen Gruppen gestärkt. Der Fluss Ewaso Nyrio ist die Lebensader für mehr als 3,6 Millionen meist pastoral lebende Menschen im Norden Kenias. Die Karawane wurde unterstützt vom Träger des Zivilien Friedensdienstes Weltfriedensdienst und mitorganisiert von dessen Partnern #IMPACT und #Isiolo Peace Link. Der kenianische Umweltminister Keriako Tobiko, der ansässige Parlamentarier Hassan Odha, der Leiter der kenianischen Umweltbehörde Mamo B. Mamo und VertreterInnen der Countyregierungen von Isiolo, Laikipia und Samburu County nahmen an den Feierlichkeiten teil und versprachen ihre Unterstützung in einem weiteren gesetzlichen Schutz des Ökosystems.
Last week the sixth annual Camel Caravan took place in the counties Isiolo, Laikipia and Samburu in Kenya. Four groups of volunteers and local residents walked over 300km along the Ewaso Ng'iro River to celebrate together in Archers Post. The Caravan brought together over 100 volunteers and residents from over five ethnic communities. They were informed about the difficult situation along the river and the peaceful coexistence of the local ethnic groups was strengthened. The river Ewaso Nyrio is the lifeline for more than 3.6 million mostly pastoral people in northern Kenya. The caravan was supported by the Civil Peace Service World Peace Service and co-organized by its partners #IMPACT and #Isiolo Peace Link. The Kenyan Minister of the Environment Keriako Tobiko, the resident parliamentarian Hassan Odha, the head of the Kenyan environmental authority Mamo B. Mamo and representatives of the county governments of Isiolo, Laikipia and Samburu County participated in the celebrations and promised their support in further legal protection of the ecosystem./media:description>

It aims to build a world in which conflicts are resolved without resorting to violence. Nine German peace and development organizations run the CPS together with local partners. One of them is the World Peace Service (Weltfriedensdienst e.V.)
The Civil Peace Service (CPS) is funded by the German Government. CPS experts support people on the ground in their commitment for dialogue, human rights and peace on a long-term basis. Currently, more than 330 international CPS experts are active in 45 countries.
The Civil Peace Service supports projects aimed at non-violent conflict resolutions in various countries worldwide. It seconds experts to assist local partner organisations. Its objectives are the prevention of violent conflicts, the reduction of violence, and the long-term securing of peace.
CPS cooperates with local partner organisations that
- build structures of cooperation and dialogue across lines of conflict (in doing so also strengthening traditional conflict resolution),
- create meeting points and safe spaces where parties to a conflict can meet,
- strengthen information and communication structures that trace the causes and consequences of violent conflict (including the promotion of peace journalism, the networking of peace-building organisations, and monitoring the development of conflicts),
- provide assistance to groups that are particularly affected by violence and ease their re-integration into society (e.g. by providing counselling and social support for, or working with, traumatised survivors),
- provide assistance and training in methods and concepts of civil conflict resolution,
- devise courses in peace education and in dismantling enemy stereotypes,
- restore confidence in local law and order, and campaign for human rights.
A number of development and peace organisations have joined up to form the Civil Peace Service Consortium. Members of the consortium include non-governmental as well as governmental agencies. The programme is being financed by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).
5:: KENIA Camel Caravan Campaign at Ewaso Ng'iro

Letzte Woche fand die sechste jährliche Camel Caravan in den Counties Isiolo, Laikipia and Samburu in Kenia statt. Vier Gruppen von Freiwilligen und Anliegern wanderten über 300km entlang des Ewaso Ng'iro Flusses, um dann gemeinsam in Archers Post zu feiern. Die Caravan brachte über 100 Freiwillige und Anlieger aus über fünf ethnischen Gemeinschaften zusammen. Es wurde über die schwierige Lage entlang des Flusses informiert sowie das friedliche Zusammenleben der ansässigen ethnischen Gruppen gestärkt. Der Fluss Ewaso Nyrio ist die Lebensader für mehr als 3,6 Millionen meist pastoral lebende Menschen im Norden Kenias. Die Karawane wurde unterstützt vom Träger des Zivilien Friedensdienstes Weltfriedensdienst und mitorganisiert von dessen Partnern #IMPACT und #Isiolo Peace Link. Der kenianische Umweltminister Keriako Tobiko, der ansässige Parlamentarier Hassan Odha, der Leiter der kenianischen Umweltbehörde Mamo B. Mamo und VertreterInnen der Countyregierungen von Isiolo, Laikipia und Samburu County nahmen an den Feierlichkeiten teil und versprachen ihre Unterstützung in einem weiteren gesetzlichen Schutz des Ökosystems.
Last week the sixth annual Camel Caravan took place in the counties Isiolo, Laikipia and Samburu in Kenya. Four groups of volunteers and local residents walked over 300km along the Ewaso Ng'iro River to celebrate together in Archers Post. The Caravan brought together over 100 volunteers and residents from over five ethnic communities. They were informed about the difficult situation along the river and the peaceful coexistence of the local ethnic groups was strengthened. The river Ewaso Nyrio is the lifeline for more than 3.6 million mostly pastoral people in northern Kenya. The caravan was supported by the Civil Peace Service World Peace Service and co-organized by its partners #IMPACT and #Isiolo Peace Link. The Kenyan Minister of the Environment Keriako Tobiko, the resident parliamentarian Hassan Odha, the head of the Kenyan environmental authority Mamo B. Mamo and representatives of the county governments of Isiolo, Laikipia and Samburu County participated in the celebrations and promised their support in further legal protection of the ecosystem.

Flucht und Vertreibung gehört zum Alltag der Menschen in der Region im Senegal. Die Frauenorganisation USOFORAL setzt sich für Frieden und das Ende des bewaffneten Konflikts ein. in Zusammenarbeit mit dem Weltfriedensdienst e.V. ist dieses Musikvideo entstanden.
