13:: Feral Kitten Pistachio's First Week After Rescue

··· ··· ··· ··· Pistachio was rescued out of the engine of a diesel truck. Feral, filthy, starving, he was taken in by Kitten Associates, a non-profit cat rescue in Sandy Hook, CT. Documenting his journey is foster mom and President of Kitten Associates, Robin AF Olson. Olson began posting images of Pistachio on Instagram, noting that his rescue was to honor a fellow Instagram friend: BrunoandBoop. Their cat, Frida passed away the day before Pistachio's rescue and Olson wanted something good to come out of something so heartbreaking. You can follow Pistacho's antics on FB: KittenAssociates and IG: RobinAFOlson JULY 2018 UPDATE: Pistachio got very sick. Pneumonia. It took months of tests and $$$ to finally determine he had lungworm, which is rare in the northeastern USA. Treatment worked well and last month Pistachio finally stopped coughing. Now Pistachio faces another challenge. Though it may at first seem funny, Pistchio's testicles never dropped. It's another rare problem-because he needs exploratory surgery to find them in his abdomen. It's causing him discomfort and urinary problems because we know one testicle is pressing on his bladder. We're trying to raise funds for his procedure. Thank you for loving this little guy. He's a sweetie. Feb 2019: Pistachio has had a number of setbacks, but I'm glad to say he is doing well. He still coughs so we're going to do another fundraiser so we can do what's called a Tracheal Lavage, which will take a sample of his lung fluid and figure out if there's anything funky in it. 'Stache-cheese may have scar tissue or permanent lung damage from the lungworm infestation he had. He's just turned 1-year old and is very very sweet and chatty. We also trapped his tiny sister last February. Her name is Catshew (she has a 1/2 moustache pattern on her face) and she recovered quickly from the lungworms and is doing great. Because the cats are so bonded, we will be looking to adopt them out together once we know for certain what health issues Pistachio will be facing or if we can cure them. Thank you for caring! ··· ··· ··· ··· Belle's brother, Buddy, was depressed and needed surgery when we rescued him but as you can see, this adorable 6-yr old still has a few tricks up his sleeve! Buddy has just been adopted (with his sister) YAY!

··· ··· ··· ··· Former foster kitty, Belle, once was quite overweight from a steady diet of junk kibble. Almost a year later, Belle's been adopted and has slimmed down to a more appropriate weight. She'll be able to fly much higher now (and has a better belly flap, too)
