A funny story about writing this song is: I was giving my son Jake a bath when he was about one year old (he's 33 now), and suddenly the whole song came to me. I had to keep singing it so I wouldn't forget it. I always tell songwriters to be ready whenever inspiration strikes! Regarding this video, I always wanted to play this song with both Justo and Abraham Laboriel, two of my biggest heroes, and now here it is. What a joy! I have had the privilege of going on many pilgrimages there, and while there, I always visit the Dead Sea. Let me tell you, the Dead Sea is completely dead! There is nothing living in it, and any object, such as a boat or bridge, that would go in that water would soon corrode to the point of total destruction. So why does this happen? Well, water flows into the Dead Sea, BUT no water flows out of it. I remember when I was young, my dad talked about this in one of his sermons, and when I was finally able to go see it for myself, wow, was it obviously true! SOOO, the point of this song is - as Godâ€™s love and blessings keep coming to us, let's make it our prayer that His love and life will continually flow out of us! Musically speaking, I have always loved the sound of the 2 and 6 chords in a key repeating back and forth; it creates a dark tone. So, that's why when this song goes to the chorus, I made it all major chords so it would sound bright and happy as we sing about God's love flowing out of us. Bryan Taylor, our drummer, and TWM Director had the idea of using a trumpet to make the song celebrative and festive. ··· ··· ··· ··· This song was written from Psalms 113:3. The groove was inspired from a song Justo Almario wrote entitled, "Abrazos y Besos." Through my many blessed years of playing worship music with Justo at our church, Christian Assembly, I learned many Latin rhythms which I did my best to incorporate into my songwriting. A funny story about writing this song is: I was giving my son Jake a bath when he was about one year old (he's 33 now), and suddenly the whole song came to me. I had to keep singing it so I wouldn't forget it. I always tell songwriters to be ready whenever inspiration strikes! Regarding this video, I always wanted to play this song with both Justo and Abraham Laboriel, two of my biggest heroes, and now here it is. What a joy! And yes, Bryan Taylor did an incredible job on percussion as always. Our tours often start in Jappa, a city overlooking the Mediterranean Sea, where the Apostle Peter had a transformative vision. According to Acts 10:9-16, Peter's vision revealed that salvation through Jesus Christ is for everyone. Early Christianity was initially thought to be exclusive to Jews, but this vision emphasized its universality. Additionally, Revelation 22:17 states, "And the Spirit and the bride say, ‘Come!’ And let him who hears say, ‘Come!’ And let him who thirsts come. Whoever desires, let him take the water of life freely." This verse beautifully illustrates that Jesus, who declared He is the only way, is indeed the all-inclusive God to those who profess him as Lord. Creating this song was an unspeakable honor and joy, especially because I had the privilege of collaborating with two of my heroes, Abraham Laboriel and Justo Almario. ··· ··· ··· ··· This song was inspired by a trip I took to Israel. I have had the privilege of going on many pilgrimages there, and while there, I always visit the Dead Sea. Let me tell you, the Dead Sea is completely dead! There is nothing living in it, and any object, such as a boat or bridge, that would go in that water would soon corrode to the point of total destruction. So why does this happen? Well, water flows into the Dead Sea, BUT no water flows out of it. I remember when I was young, my dad talked about this in one of his sermons, and when I was finally able to go see it for myself, wow, was it obviously true! SOOO, the point of this song is - as God’s love and blessings keep coming to us, let's make it our prayer that His love and life will continually flow out of us! Musically speaking, I have always loved the sound of the 2 and 6 chords in a key repeating back and forth; it creates a dark tone. So, that's why when this song goes to the chorus, I made it all major chords so it would sound bright and happy as we sing about God's love flowing out of us. Bryan Taylor, our drummer, and TWM Director had the idea of using a trumpet to make the song celebrative and festive. It’s not your typical worship band instrument, but I love broadening what the sound of worship can be, and our good friend Knox Summerour did a fantastic job! I actually wrote this song in the 80’s, and I have been discovering that when I go back and listen to some of my earlier songs, when I was a young writer, I hear bits and pieces of the original core sounds God was giving me at the time. This is one of those songs! Rearranging and recording this piece felt like an exercise in returning to my first love (Revelation 2:3-5). P.S. ··· ··· ··· ··· This song, and the concept for this video, were born out of an experience I had one evening in 2021. So many discouraging things were happening to me and many others during the pandemic. I had personally experienced the loss of friends and family members, my congregation and I were unable to meet in our church building, and there seemed to be no end to the negative news stories, political hate, and culture wars. I also kept hearing the media announce how the Church around the world was shrinking. It was a hard time for all of us! Then one night after speaking to some vibrant Bible college students on a Zoom call, I went online and began watching some live Christian worship services that were happening in different parts of the world. I thought to myself, “Bad news is what sells, but God is yet on the move and the sounds of worship are yet being heard all over the Earth!” I decided to write a song that speaks to this truth and invite worshipers from all over the world to join me. I wanted to ENCOURAGE AND REMIND millions of people that joyful, hope-filled, worship expressions (like you will see in this video) are indeed happening every day all over the Earth! So, after writing the song, recording it, inviting hundreds of people to be a part, traveling to Europe, and getting my incredible team to put it together… here it is!
